Season Preview 21/22 – Contenders
by Northernr at 08:31:37

As ever mate, we fancied 15 teams to go down and maybe one or two to do alright. Picking a top six is impossible. It's a terrible league.

Great as usual Clive. I will bow down to your expertise usually but Bournemouth look mid table at best to me. If they finish in the top 6 I'll send you a case of your beloved Peronis.

Thanks for your report.

I am not sure if anyone saw that one coming. The great thing was that all of our goals were quality goals.

Odubajo completes QPR’s summer – Signing
by stevec at 08:59:46

Having once had a serious knee injury I can never understand why any club would sign a player who’s had a serious knee injury. Whether the knee recovers or not the head seldom accepts it.

I like Moses, wanted us to sign him from Orient, so hope he’s one of the few who can get over it. Amos and Field already two men down we can’t afford too many others.

Cheers Clive. If Moses stays fit he will be a very useful addition. Another possible solution (double solution actually) to the space behind Moses and our over-loading of left-footed players is to play Dunne on the right of the three and leave out Jorgi. Dunne would cover across behind Moses quicker than Dickie and give us more balance overall

Ultimately, we now have excellent cover in the wing back positions. It was the area that, without exception, everyone agreed needed sorting.
Shame about Field, but let’s be honest, who is not licking their lips and raring to go. I have not been this excited and expectant since……..ever.

Also, I think Faysal Bettache has looked almost faultless so far. I expect he'll get farmed out on loan a la our previous conversations on Conor Masterson (or Ilias Chair and Ebere Eze) for example, but to me, Bettache already looks very comfortable and confident at this level, either playing as a 4 or an 8.

I think the answer to the issue will be Luke Amos, Clive, assuming he doesn't have any understandable lingering doubts about his knees holding up. (What is it about this club and dodgy knees??)🤢

That last paragraph reminded me of Di Canio's tenure when it didn't matter if we conceded 3 as we'd score 4!

Thanks Clive, as always. Love the boron rod analogy.

Obviously cannot read too much into Friendlies but with last season's form and the close season signings, can't help but be optimistic this year. What a far cry from those miserable days not recently past. We have an exciting crowd of committed professionals now at the R's, whilst Barton beats up his wife.
Am I dreaming or is this a top 6 team?

Thank you so much, Clive, for such an incredibly entertaining and moving reminder of Saturday. Especially loved the snow coming down! My son and I both agree it was (ridiculously?) our happiest ever time @ Loftus Road… and I’ve been coming hundreds of times for over 50 years!?
Could hardly decide on our MotM… Dykes, Duke-McKenna or Odubajo; reminded me of seeing Marsh, Bowles or Tarrabt the first time… Can hardly wait to 7th… although suspect it will feel like they’ve taken the safety net away under the high wire! Feels right now like I’ve lucked-out in buying my first ever season-ticket this year, despite living in Hastings…

great report Clive; couldn't make it as on the piss in Manchester of all places; but homeward bound before having the chance to find any of their fans to take the piss out of.

will have to follow the first 2 homes from afar due to holidays too; look forward to your thoughts on those.

Endfarleigh - Not quite ALL of it - Clive was in the pub, so missed the classically misinformed "QPR have had a quiet transfer summer"!!!!!!!

The north east Norway origin certainly explains the tash. Obviously a tribute to the local marine mammal population, one of whose number has kept me amused all summer as a series of boaters tear their hair out while another dinghy goes under. Wally has like Stef decided there are better places to live than the coast of north Norway in wintertime. Welcome both!!

Thanks Clive. Easily the best friendly match I’ve been to.

Fantastic write up Clive and you got in all the bollux we had to listen to on MUTV in the build up.

Didnt go as collecting brownie points but not dead yet so see you Saturday week.

I feel the love.

Shame the R's faithful couldn't have a chorus of Morning Glory, insert Rangers

Excellent Clive. Just like the game itself, I hope the line ' Lee Wallace, a cross shaped like the curved spine of a Brazilian porn star' doesn't count as the real thing as it's 'only' a friendly write up. Otherwise you have set yourself a ridiculously high standard for the months ahead.

Magnificent Clive. Love it. Thank you.

I couldn’t make Saturday so watched on all sorts of devices and channels…I still can’t believe that this was the Superhoops looking this good!

Covid has f*cked my career in travel, so I’m unemployed and broke…but have renewed my season ticket anyway, and simply cannot wait for Millwall on Sat week. We’ve all sat through the rubbish, both in that final Prem season and everything since - maybe this is the season that it all turns around.

Your writing has massively helped through the last 18 months Clive. Thank you.

I am going to shout and scream like a kid at Loftus Rd in two weeks time…just as Millwall idiots fight each other and rip the seats out!?!
