What a game it had a bit of everything.
A poor start, a poor Ref, and maybe a poor challenge, but from my seat I couldn’t really see but the player’s reactions either told a story or gave the referee an easy decision to make and poor selection as Dunne was not moving freely though out the game.
That’s the bad covered, now let’s get onto the good.
Never gave up, controlled the game, energy in abundance.
A massive reminder of Derby 2QPR 2 from a few years back when Hamie Mackie got that late goal.
Great goal from Paul Smyth and also from Poku
Adamson was exceptional when he came on
Charles playing so far forward gave out ball from the back which although he did not work in the 1st worked in the second.
Created so many chances.
Madsen dictated the pace of the game today and Edwards was Edwards in the second half bringing the ball out of defence.
Stephen got a call right today in replacing Mbengue with Smyth as we went for it.
Crowd today got behind the team well today.
MOM could of been Madsen, Adamson but I thought Poku deserved some may disagree.
Only a draw but felt like win.

Dominated the game in Midfield with lots of pretty passes without going anywhere as we didn’t seem to be able to make that killer pass and I not sure if that was due to lack of movement.
Kamara was different class and seemed to work well with Madsen.
Lots of positives as we look to have a bit of strength in depth, pretty much controlled the game, but a few negatives as the injuries are starting to mount up.
Adamson did ok, but does not bomb on and cuts back which Mebengue did not do as he went forward and put 3 good balls in.
Maybe being a bit harsh Obikwu looked a little lost.
But in general 1st signs are we are better than last year.

At the end of the day we got the job done!
We seemed to make hardwork of Cardiff who I thought looked poor, but we seemed to invite them onto us and let them play.
Lots of chances were not taken we the normally composed Vale being the chief offender.
We got lucky with the 1st goal, but the second was class with Edwards bringing out of defence and Burrell putting it away.
The rotation policy is working well getting all players upto speed.
Yes the fixtures have been kind to us but 10 out of 12 is better than expected.
Mom today was Lamptey, this boy is class and today was playing out of position.

Wrexham at home all over again.
Today summed up the lack of respect we are showing to end of the season with changes for changes sake, which ultimately ended up with us finishing the game with 10 men.
Yes I do get it is giving the manager the opportunity to blood youngsters to see how they cut it but pre season friendly is the place for that.
The 1st half performance was good with some good performances from players I have been critical of in the past Bennie and Morgan.
It is was it is.
I would say the season has been typical of a middle of the table team with the good being very good and the bad being very bad.
The Madsen injury affected us badly and we naturally dipped a bit then and struggled.
Next week I would imagine will be more of the same and £43 a ticket is a joke.
Has it improved from last season….i think so!

Rangers showed support for the tube workers by failing to turn up for work too.
Second best in on areas.
Swansea likewise had nothing to play for, but where decent worked hard and put a performance on for the fans who pay good money to watch and travel.
Really struggled to pass from A to B tonight.
Some very poor performance tonight Kolli, Burrell, Hayden, Walsh, Vale, Morgan.
They say games are won and lost in Midfield and that was very true tonight.
Madsen looked encouraging when he came on and will make a difference.
I think it will be more of the same in the last 2 games.
New keeper is a must nothing sticks to his gloves.

A really dire game today and probably the worse game I have watched in a long time.
The referee had a go at making interesting with some bizarre petty decisions.
Strange call to bring on Bennie, not sure what value he was going to add.
Crossing practice 1st thing for training on Monday as that was really poor today.
MOM Ronnie gets better every week.

After the last 2 performances the side deservedly picked itself, but we made hard work of getting the job done against a poor side.
On top for 2/3 of the game and let them back in.
The chances we had in the 1st half could have been out of sight.
Would have brought Hayden on at the end to tighten it up a bit or got somebody to sit on the Watford number 10 as everything was going through him.
Some good performances today Norrington -Davies and Smyth but MOM today Edwards as he pretty much read everything.
Maybe being a bit to critical but Walsh should of saved the free kick
Final note Watford number 3 is all that is wrong with football

No complaints today, beaten by the best team that have visited HQ this season.
Boro midfield 3 dominated the game Hackney, Browne and Mcgree.
Boro movement was good and seemed fitter with players always available to receive the ball.
Lots of sloppy short passes today from the Rangers today mainly out of play.
As I have said before the injury crisis on a budget like ours will catch up with you.
MOM Vale today who did alright.
I can see more of the same until 2-3 of the players out come back.
I think Cook needs to start even if it means a back 5.

I think this might be a bit controversial but I believe it was somewhere in the middle.

You are going to struggle.
Sheffield United have a strong team and bench and due to poor management are in a wrong position, but are turning it around.
No surprises today with the result, thought it might of gone to 3 or4
Not sure why Kone’s header was chalked off.
Referee was very poor today missed a load of minor offences.
You can only put what bodies are available and it is clear to see the Bennies need a loan spell to get upto the rigours of English football.
Second half much better than the 1st.
I think next week will be more of the same.
MOM Jimmy Dunne and Kone battled well.

A really bad performance against a really poor side.
Started well and played some lovely football for the 1st 10-15 mins, maybe overplayed a bit for the perfect goal, but unfortunately it is a 90mins games and the rest was poor.
All the goals came from mistakes and poor goals to let in.
Saito, Dunne, very poor, with Bennie looking maybe unfairly out of his depth, but the injury crisis dictates the options and the line up and the changes as the bench looked weak today.
Ending up with a midfield 4 of Vale, Smyth, Morgan, Saito is not going to win you games but it is what it is.
Surprised Stephen did not change it earlier, by bringing in Kolli earlier and go for 2 up to top.
Smyth needs to stop giving away cheap fouls.
Another strange one today was against Coventry when they had a corner we kept 3 up, but when we went 3-1 down we brought everybody back which baffled me a bit
In summary poor performance and a missed opportunity to push for the play offs against a really poor side.
Hope Madsen injury is not serious as that will be a massive miss as most good things go through him.
MOM …can’t honestly pick one.

One of the great afternoon HQ after last weeks disappointment.
Great team performance.
Not sure who did not track the runner for the Coventry goal, but in fairness it was a quality ball into the box.
When you consider how many players we have out it really does hit home what a great result it was.
Some really good performances from the back four, Vale and Kone with a great goal, but my man of the match was Madsen today.
The ball in for Kone’s goal was quality and the calmness to his finish was outstanding.
Madsen has come on so much from last season and is a top performer week in week out this season.

Really poor performance against a very poor side and got what we deserved nothing.
Played like they just rolled from a NYE party, and fair play to Norwich they wanted it a bit more and slowed the game down when it was needed.
I have to say every dead ball hit the 1st man and in general every ball into the box was poor.
Only thing worse than the performance was the state of the pitch.
I do appreciate it is a lot of games in a short space of time but I think it is changes for changes sake at the moment in general, but that seems to be across all teams. |

As close to perfection as you are going to get.It all just clicked together today giving us the bounce back from last week.
Leicester had a 11 good individual players but where shocking as a team..
Madsen gets better every week, Norrington-Davies was solid as was Dunne and Dembele had his best game for a long time.
We have competition for places .
MOM all of them best team performance for seasons.

A solid performance today against WBA today.
Looked really good today going forward although WBA looked very slow and shaky at the back.
Some really good performances today, Nardi has come in for some deserved stick of late but no complaints about his performance today including a fine double save in the second half. I did think hear we go when they equalised but FairPlay to Kone for showing some starting setting up Burrell second.
MOM today was Madsen… tackling winning headers and confident on the ball.

I feared the worse today when we went behind twice, but the team showed real character coming from behind.
Soft goals to let in, Clarke-Salter not showing enough strength for second and Hamer should not of been beaten at the near post.
That’s the negatives out the way as we had far more positives.
Created lots of opportunities, quality balls into the box today.

It is quite strange at the moment as I don’t believe the fans or the manager know what the best 11 are, but we are in a better position now against the last 2 seasons with a stronger squad so something must be right. |

It was going to click for Ipswich at some stage and unfortunately it was today.
The line up today was very attack minded against a team that are poor at the back, but have an embarrassment of talent going forward, so the approach was risky match fire with fire and their flames were more dangerous than ours.
Was it the right approach? … I don’t know, but the result tells us it wasn’t.
In summary
Esquerdinha.. Destroyed for the 1st goal
Centre Half’s .. beaten in the air for 2 goals not acceptable, but something we lack quality delivery into the box
Nardi…probably question his position for both free kicks
Cook…Looks like age is catching up on him and you can’t escape
Vale… Good when it is going well, but today so many misplaced passes.
Kobe… Seemed to be in a sulk all day.
But no complaints about the results as you are going to struggle against a team with 10-15 million pound players in the bench.
I would have personally gone a bit more defensive and played. Varane, Field instead of Burrell in the hope of containing and frustrating and then gone for it by bringing on Burrell, Chance to put things right on Wednesday but that will be tough.

Ipswich going into the match are a team in a false position and it was going to click for them at some stage and unfortunately for us it was today..
Squirting hopelessly beaten on the wing for the 1st goal.

One of those games where you expect 3 points, but didn’t create enough to deserve 3 points and fair play to Oxford as they did what they had to do very well.
I can’t honestly remember either keeper making a save in the game:
The starting line up lacked a bit of creativity with Hayden and Field in the middle a kind of pairing you would go with in an away game against one of the top teams not in a game you are expected to dominate and win.
I will say we did get into some strong crossing positions but the balls never got past the 1st defender.
A bit disappointed tonight in the fact we lacked that cutting edge …MOM …nobody stood out but will go with Norrington-Davies |

I can honestly say for the 1st 83mins it was like Preston on repeat… Started well scored then lost our way and conceded, but step forward Saito who showed a piece of class with his goal and benefits of being two footed as the defender did not know what way to show him and bang goal. Good finish from Kone for the 3rd but at 2-1 I would have hooked for a defensive midfielder.. Die a bit of luck and got it today. MOM today and you can’t knock Madsen today but will go with Mbengue. I also thought Vale was a bit out of his depth, but Norrington-Davies could be answer to a problem.
