Romeu - should he play on Saturday? 14:08 - Nov 6 with 1630 viewsPatfromPoole

If fit, it's a no-brainer for me.

We could have done with him last night.

I think if we had not won, there would be an almighty post-mortem now.

A large part of it would centre on our inability to keep the ball in midfield.

I would ditch the 3 CB's, and bring Oriol in, possibly alongside Downes and Jander and dominate the midfield.

Yes and no more 3 at the back, him as holding midfielder, Downes and Jander further forward linking with front 3.

Spot on CB (and Pat as well) one thing I’d add is no more chances for Damion ‘Donkey’ Downs, did he even touch the ball last night?? We have a young striker, Nicholas Oyekunle, who has been scoring for fun at U/21 level and for this coming weekend at least we have his usual manager in charge of the 1st team. It stands to reason that if anyone knows him well then TE does. If TE honestly thinks Donkey Downs deserves a place on the pitch ahead of Oyekunle then the poor lad may as well give up football and join WS on his PlayStation. If anyone should know how to integrate NO into the first team in terms of where to play him and how to best support him it is TE. So, give the lad a chance this weekend ahead of DD please.

Pat it's a no brainer even if he's unfit

There was an interesting interview with him on Early Doors with Le Tiss. Oriol said "as long as you show your passion, as long as you show respect and you do your job properly the fans will support you to the end."

Perhaps the current squad should have that clip played to them before every game

It's worrying that, as the man who knows him best, TE didn't even include Oyekunle on the bench. That suggests he's not ready yet, but as you say it's hard to believe he could be worse than Downs.

I just hope we're not building him up on every forum or whatever as if he is the mesiah and saviour of the club (God we need one though!)
I'm not ssaying he won't be but let's just hope he hasn't lost all that he had in his previous life here as now 34 years old

Oriel said in his interview that he'll need a few days to get match fit & that it's possible that he'd be ready after the international break.
Let's not expect too much from him, he was absolutely brilliant for us when he was here , but the years do take there toll on players, he's never been blessed with speed & can only be slower now, but his attitude & experience would compensate for that.
One thing for sure is that he's a leader & a great example of a pro footballer.

Am i alone in tinking Romeu was ok, but not the 'legend' being portrayed by fans ?

Maybe its overuse of that word and it being diminshed.

It was mentioned a few times that his 'legs had gone' towards the end of his time here. It has given everyone a lift though, and I wonder if a few people may not be ill etc every other week with Oriol breathing down their neck.

He had spells with us where he was superb .

Appreciate he will have dropped off a bit now but really hoping he can give us 20 odds games in the Championship

Probably too early just yet. However definitely get him in the dressing room from start to finish on Saturday. His input could be priceless. Fluked the Win v QPR, hanging on for grim death for the final 20 mins or so. Both of our Goals were great. More of the same Saturday.
We really need to beat Sheff Wednesday.

Yes it's very noticeable how many players go missing with minor knocks & illnesses when the team is struggling.
I'm sure they will all make miraculous recoveries if we start winning a few games.

Just been confirmed that Romeu will not feature on Saturday as he’s not ready , he hasn’t played since May .

Poll: Would you take an Fa Cup win if it meant relegation to the championship ?
