Our season has started! Wonderful to get that vital away win after a dismal first couple of results. And with Manure losing at home I wouldn't be surprised to see us take something next week against them.

A brilliant goal from Djenepo and just fabulous to kill it at the end with the Boufal - Redmond move.

Things are looking up... at last. COYS!
Sympathising with a pig and a cow

One day a Jew, a Hindu, and a Scouser all arrived at their hotel to find that there had been a mix-up with the bookings, and that there was only one room left for them to share.

The manager explained that this room only had two beds, but that there was a barn at a neighbouring farm which the farmer, an old friend of his, would let one of them sleep in free of charge.

They complained a bit, but since there was nowhere else to go, the Jew graciously said he’d sleep in the barn.

The Hindu and the Scouser were just settling down to sleep in their room, when there was a knock on the door. It was the Jew.

“I’m sorry,” he said, “but there’s a pig in that barn and because I’m Jewish I feel uncomfortable about sharing the barn with it.” “No problem,” said the Hindu. “I’ll sleep out there instead.”

So off he went to the barn, leaving the scouser and the Jew to share the room.

“I’m sorry,” he said, “but there’s a cow in that barn and because I’m a Hindu I feel uncomfortable about sharing the barn with it.”

The Scouser grudgingly agreed to give up his bed and stomped off to the barn, leaving the Jew and the Hindu to share the room.

A lot of media outlets are suggesting we're keen to sign him. However, £30 million, Fulham's reported asking price, would be an absolutely massive sum and surely a huge gamble for Saints. I can't see him fitting into Ralph's plans either.

I suspect this is all agent-provoked media hype but I may be wrong. What do others think?
Phew.... relax!

At last, we've secured our PL status for next year. None of us would have predicted a a 3-3 draw but it was cracking game despite our frustrating trait of throwing away a lead. Victory would have been sweet. But it doesn't matter. With Cardiff losing we're safe now. Such a relief after a season of so many ups and downs.

We looked like we were certainly heading down under Hughes but Hasenhüttl has vastly improved us. We're still prone to make mistakes, look very fragile defending a lead and don't have the clinical finishing that we all want to see. But with some decent signings we can look forward to a better campaign next season surely! One thing's for sure, we don't want another season worrying about relegation. Not sure I can take the trauma of going through that again!
Massive, massive win!

What a day!

It's hard to overestimate how important that victory was for us. Combined with defeats for Cardiff and Brighton, we are surely looking safe now.

Our prayers were answered!

Burnley well and truly in it now

I'm no lover of Liverpool (what Saints fan is?), but they did us a big favour today in beating 'trumped-up, think they're safe,' Burnley. We stay ahead of them and have a better goal difference.

A real shame that Cardiff, Brighton and Newcastle all won yesterday, but at least this was a good result for us.

Our next match away to Brighton is now truly massive. We simply must avoid defeat there.
Massive win today

What a relief to see that game through after EIGHT minutes of stoppage time and a lot of frayed nerves.

I thought before the game that we'd maybe end up getting a point against a potentially good side (although they rather laboured to their win against Bournemouth last weekend). To get a two goal lead was fabulous although it was classic Saints to concede and make it difficult for ourselves at the end. To hang on and take all the points was tremendous.

It helps us to move on from the disappointment of the Derby defeat and face Palace with a degree of confidence. There's a long way to go, of course, and we could yet slip back into danger. But at the moment I'm feeling (cautiously) hopeful!
