These are all the pubs in and around the Vetch/Sandfields which I can remember since 1978. Each had their own individual atmosphere and many are no longer there but being a Sandfields boy at heart I thought I'd post this to stimulate some nostalgia about the 'good old days'.

Even the alleged away fan friendly pubs were iffy. Back in the early eighties a lot of away fans just didn’t come near the vetch until the game. Obviously Chelsea caused a few problems, for anyone who remembered 1979 when Jimmy scored that superb goal, could have been 1980. Bedlam, beautiful bedlam 😂
I remember thousands of them being marched back to the railway station. I was as the top of Orchard street and swear my heart stopped when I saw them.

Not my era, but those were it seems quite dangerous times. I do have mates who have visited the vetch as away fans, one was chased out of Wales in his car. Now that is mad.

I think the Glamorgan was a designated away fans pub Rich maybe the Seabeach too but don’t think many others were especially the Badminton & The Robin Hood down that end of the Sandfields !!

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Doras was irreplaceable
Along with Martha's the best night out in Swansea.
Some good, weird, scary nights in Doras for an under aged teenager my first introductions to strong warm Breaker lager,Special VAT cider, smoking dope and taking speed it was a phenomenon of a place where everybody claimed to have been to but in actual fact not many people went there for obvious reasons a definite Swansea place with not many outsiders, The Coach & Horses which was a lot sketchier than Doras .
This song seemed to be on a constant loop in there Clint Eastwood & General Saint .
Doras would have no place in this cr@p world now for the cool kids & the snow flakes they would sh!t themselves.
Only went to Doras the once as lanky spotty 17 year old, surprised they let me in, effing sh!t myself in there, the night ended badly with me passing onto the pavement the one and only donner kebab I've ever had, that night will stay with me forever, along with quite a few other memories, most of them good.

Something that I really regret is not being old enough to experience the pubs around The Vetch properly. We moved to The Liberty when I was about 17/18, so despite going to The Vetch for the best part of 13/14 years, I didn't get to experience that side of it. I think I popped into a few bars towards the end with mates for a cheeky pint, but would have loved to have experienced it as an adult.

Same here swervy, I moved away when I was 18 and only sampled them the odd occasion I came home.

Absolutely Keith and as a born and bred Sandfields boy I enjoyed then just as much on a Sunday where we’d ’have a wander’ around the Sandfields pubs, sampling the free bar food which was a traditional gesture at the time, very unique and bloody lovely .... !!
