Leroy Fer 22:03 - Jan 31 with 11902 viewsGaz_M

A player who's come in for a lot of criticism this season - some deserved, most undeserved.

He had a superb game this evening. Sharp in the tackle (embarrassing Cork showing how it's done), good on the ball, and drove forward at times.

He's already been a good signing. Hopefully he continues to improve under a proper manager.

There is certainly a good player in Fer but not as a holding midfielder or one who just plays in the front of the centre halves.
Seems to feed on confidence much more than the average player and at present is playing in his best position, but is he the best player we have capable of playing in that position?
At present, our main focus is staying in this league and Gylfi has to be sacrificed out wide to allow Fer to play that role behind the striker, at present this is working a treat.

I wouldn't say say Fer is playing behind the striker, its more of a 3 man midfield. When siggy was playing central he didn't get back anywhere near as much as Fer does. At the moment the system we use suits what we've got perfectly. Siggys playing some of his best football I've seen from him so leave it as it is.

That second paragraph isn't really "truth" though is it?

Fer's been a decent player since he got here, and was the only one scoring goals during a tough start. Had he not done that we may have been even deeper in the relegation shit than we are.

"Absolute dogshit"? Don't be daft.

Leroy has shown what he is all about, even when the chips are down.
He has never been dogshit in a swans shirt.
He has more about him than JJS who no matter what people say was decent for us.
Fer like Cork , Carrol, even Llorente has proven many wrong.
Let's be fcking happy we have a team taking on the best in the league and winning or coming very close. We have a team that now fights to the end and never gives up. We have character, spirit, passion and desire, all the things I want to see in a team in my city's shirt.
And we now have a manager and staff who are focussed, professional and competent.
There is no reason at all for any swans fan to have any cause to grumble.
Whatsoever.

Fer always used to go missing, but is starting to put in some disciplined shifts under Clement. His quality on the ball has never been in doubt. Looks much more like a box-to-box midfielder than he did when he joined us. His cross for the opener on Saturday was sublime.

Just to bang home why we've reason to be cheerful, this is the form table since Clement was appointed, only 2 points off top. Compared to winning 12 points from our first 19 games - an incredible turnaround.

Very intelligent and versatile player.

Needed some time to get use to life in Swansea. But with grow in confidence he is now the general in the central midfield.
