The judges must have read planet swans and realised we are beyond redemption culture-wise, despite Lohengrins interventions.

Perch is deciding

Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.

If we apply often enough they may eventually award it to us.

BANO
BBC this week are featuring all the towns and cities up for it .

Coventry feature showed how it was decimated in the eighties and has now been regenerised.

Apart from Dylan Thomas and Copper, I'm struggling as to what the BBC could highlight.

Sunderland too, has no chance and is as run down as Swansea. Stoke on Trent no better and PAISLEY?

I'm wondering how these cities are finalised

You can't think of any culture associated with Paisley? Doesn't the name give a clue? And Stoke-on-Trent? Doesn't ring any bells?

Personally I think Liverpool should be awarded this every time it comes up. I know that I, for one, can never hear enough about the Beatles.

The competition is about regeneration so it's about run down places that need investment and not about places that have had fortunes thrown at them.

Is that an opinion Lisa or simply nasty shuite again

Don't tell me, Swansea is wonderful ,vibrant, and has the lovely Gower

Liverpool s regeneration was not wholly funded by the British public . It's carrying on at a relentless rate and it's why millions visit the fookn place ,the City that is .

Stoke on Trent is six towns once preeminent in pottery ,pits and heavy industry

Swansea NEEDS this more than anywhere and it would revolutionise the place

Coventry will get it

Perch. I don't care about Liverpool.

Every week you make posts slagging off Swansea and how sh*t it is in comparison with Liverpool.

Well it's relative isn't it. Because from where I live, Liverpool is a sh*thole. A complete dump.

Chelsea fans sing 'we pay your benefits' to a Liverpool fans. Because they think it's a dump where no one works.

Give it a sodding rest will you. We get it. You have to convince yourself daily that you made the right decision to move away. But you are insulting virtually everyone on this board by doing so.

You don't even live in bloody Liverpool anyway. You do exactly what you accuse people on this board of doing when they live in the Swansea Valley or Neath and visit Swansea - you pop there from time to time.

Liverpool is fine - I like it as a city. But it's not Rome is it. So for the love of God, stop going on as though it's some sort of Utopian ideal. It just sounds stupid.

I d have thought you were above the usual suspects

I do not do as you say.

I do care about the way it's been allowed to decay . I don't care what outsiders say .

This spat is regular occurrence . Many on here love it ,just watch this thread develop.

Truth hurts and it's why we see much of this on here

It's not personal ,or shouldn't be

If there was one thing I would guarantee on this thread, it'd be that you would slag Swansea off on it. I would have bet my house on it.

Seriously. Think about that.

It’s got very little to do with actual culture. Liverpool and Hull past winners with Coventry current favourites is testament to that. They just can’t really call it ‘city most badly in need of regeneration’ award.

I hope we win it, but if we do, it will have nothing to do with Dylan Thomas, copper mines or Rhys Ifans

With all due respect Liverpool s history of Arts luminaries is pre eminent . Hull has Larkin and huge historical significance .

Culture,to me ,means the Arts, music, theatre and the written word and Swansea can stand toe to toe with Paisley ,Stoke and Coventry .

Maybe so, but this award is cultural in name only. They were both also shit-tips in need of regeneration.

It’s like Andy Murray and Lewis Hamilton winning sports personality.

Aye, Jimmy McGovern and Carla Lane outshine Dylan Thomas and Martin Amis any day of the week.

Hull was chosen over Swansea for political reasons.

You said earlier that you couldn't think of any reason why Swansea should be featured.

You can't see what culture the BBC could highlight about Swansea?

Mumbles railway is the worlds first passenger railway.
Swansea University campus was the first campus based university in the UK.
St Helens was the venue of the first six sixes in a six ball over in the world.
The nickel carbonyl process was invented in Clydach which is now in the city of Swansea

we probably wont get it like the rail electrification and probably the city deal and the tidal lagoon. this will go to the west midlands. lots of marginal constituencies there. no real chance of the tories winning much around swansea

Zero chance.

Seems class war alive and kicking

Swansea ,like a lot of Labour strongholds was effectively left to die during the eighties .

It's still suffering as its seen as a nonentity which is why this bid is so vital

Talk about the Grand Theatre being closed for a month to help meet the budget deficit hardly sounds like something a prospective city of culture would do.
