Corbyn apologised for anti-Semitism within the Labour Party he didn’t apologise for attacks on the Israeli Government. There was no need to mention the Israeli Government this wasn’t about the Israeli Government.

Lisa, you and I are of an identical age with the leadership of Momentum. We all came of an age and developed an interest in politics as the ‘80s progressed. Not the same interests and not in the same directions, granted, but how much of a bearing do you think that decade had/has on the attitudes you see being struck today?
As regards anti-semitism on the far-left the focus has been on Palestine. Moving some books about this morning I came across a copy of this and it has set me thinking....

I personally believe that a lot of what is wrong with society now had its starting point with Thatcher. Specifics like the housing crisis, but also attitudinal issues - she encouraged a focus on the individual rather than the wider society. Her focus on enabling people who could do so, to amass wealth and 'stuff' has led many of those who did just that, to ignore the impact on those who could not, which has become hugely damaging. The disparity between those who 'have' and those who 'have not' is obscene. That can be traced back to her. That's resulted in the Brexit vote, which more than anything is a vote against those that are perceived to 'have it all' although ironically will largely affect those who most definitely do not.

Genuinely believe a more competent leader with wider appeal would have wiped the floor with May in 17 given her shambolic, passive campaign. He had a good vote share which was largely made up of people deserting the other smaller parties in favour of an anti Tory vote. But the reality is he has more or less the same number of seats as Brown in 2010 and that election was seen as a disaster and Brown was never considered popular. | |

Its only when she was pushed on it that she said 'I don't trust the Tories on anything, so I'm afraid I can't take the Prime Minister's word on this.'
So she did not go out of her way looking for publicity the press was at her parties conference and were going to be reporting on her and her party anyway, she said that it may well be the Russians but there is no evidence yet and then having answered she was then pushed yet again on the point, so yet again not looking for a headline, she like many others doesn't trust them, I don't trust them, they are Thatchers children after all and some of us remember Hillsborough and Orgreave and what went on in Ireland in Thatchers time when she was in charge of the country, its just not the economics of the country she changed for the worse it was the disingenuous way the Tories conducted themselves to manipulate public opinion and get their own way. | |
