Just seen this on Twitter. Fee as well would be a nice bonus. Got to be China or Qatar if they're paying a fee? No one in Europe would pay for him, surely?

Hopefully they'll be paying his ridiculous wages then. How many big earners are on loan now? The Ayew brothers, Borja, anyone else?

Who’d pay money for him when he’s out of contract in the summer and on massive wages? Mind you if it’s Qatar who knows what dodgy financing is involved. Didn’t Chico end up there?

Aye, but Chico’s in Russia now playing for Rubin Kazan. Some dodgy money in the Russian leagues as well I’d bet!

Let's hope all wages covered as he's a freebie in the summer anyway. Win win for Bony, massive wages until the summer and a big signing on fee.

It means the same as a free transfer. He's out of contract in the summer anyway.

Nothing like a free transfer, we are obviously still contributing to his wages with this deal...essentially he was a "free agent" anyway as we want him off the books and was "free" to go

No, a permanent contract would mean they can't get rid of him if he's injured for the next 6 months. Unless they signed him on a 6 month contract, which maybe Wilf wouldn't have signed. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes and we don't know what the negotiations identified as best for SCFC and Wilf.

I didn't say they can send him back. He only has 6 months contract left, so a loan is good for them, as they can see how he goes for those 6 months and then decide if he's worth signing. Loan good for us too, as it's exactly the same as him being sold on a 6 month permanent deal. Why would a buying club give him a longer contract with his injury record recently?

That is true. Anyway, main thing is that he's gone (by looks of it) and that must make a huge difference - anything upto £80k/week difference. That's maybe £1m- £1.5m over the rest of the season. I'm hoping that means we won't flog Fer and James. But not holding my breath,,,

Chico had nothing but good things to say about his experience at Al Arabi so a good place for Wilf to be. Not sure about the loan though as it means we get nothing back in transfers. Hopefully the Man City contribution will continue. Because of tax regimes I'm told he can earn less than half of his current wages and still take home more than he can now! Even though UK tax (45% top rate) is one of the most favourable in the senior league countries, tax in Qatar is a flat 10%. Hopefully, negotiating pay based on that can save us more on our contribution.
