Ive watched some of the Montalbano series on tv, some people don't like subtitles so not for everyone, I thought there was some good story lines but not as good as some of the Welsh noir shows, imo of course.

The Montalbano books are wonderful.

A great writer.

Edit: just read the obit. The Pepe Carvalho novels by Montalbán are terrific too - well worth reading if you’re into great detective characters.

Are all his books translated into English these days ? until recently only some of his work was translated but there again perhaps you read and understand Italian.

RIP to a great author and a brave critic of the Mafia and the Italian right wing.
I love Mobtalbano in print and on TV and knew Camilleri had witten Montalbano's final novel some years ago, to be deliberately published posthumously.
I hope he's been kind to the great detective and allows him a graceful retirement with Livia, but somehow I doubt it.

Oh yes, and a big Swans fan.
