Labour to make one-off payment to compensate Waspi women for their disgraceful treatment re the State Pension.

Brilliant. Vote Labour.

Labour have a lot of money.

Actually it's the Conservatives who have a lot of money. But it's money owned by the WASPI women but the Conservatives, unfairly, have kept it from them for the last 6 years or so.

Labour are just righting a wrong which started being applied during their previous time in office (albeit first brought forward as a plan by the Conservatives).

The basic concept of equalising the pension age is correct but the application of the policy was dreadful. They are rightly accepting that and looking to put that right.

Labour didn't cost this because it's something McDonnell only just decided to say having looked at the last set of poll results.

A good decision. These women have lost out on a serious amount of money because they were born sometimes days and weeks after the goalposts were changes by those assholes in blue.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Essentially problematic, the pension changes came via an EU directive on equality, it could be argued that Labours plans would effectively retire these women at 60 and so men of a similar age are being discriminated against. This one has a bit more to go.

It's amazing Labour have magically come up with this today having not mentioned it previously.

Of course, in last leaders "debate", BoJo was attacked over this issue :-

"“It is very expensive to come up with the solution that you want,” he said. “I cannot promise that I can magic up that money for you tonight.”"

Of course, this wonderful pledge was caveated that the money would have to be found if court case lost... so not quite the pledge McDonnell wants reported.

Yes, one of the considerations was sex equality, hence my earlier comment about men of a similar age being entitled to similar payments, if it could be argued that Labour would effectively retire these women at 60.

And the 10k plus jobs ( direct and indirect ) caused by Trident being present?

As for giving up a nuclear deterrent unilaterally, lmfao.

He is definitely voting for Santa this Christmas.

Well i am damn sure that £205 billion would create far far more jobs in the new renewable energies, say information technology, and the public services, like care...?

NATO is realistic.

Unilateral nuclear is simply bollox.
None of our European friends has this - and ourselves and France should give it up.
Post war maybe, now clearly a shite idea.
The terrorists don't care as we have it now and they still attack.
Better to spend more on our conventional forces.

Its a fecking nonsense from every single angle.
Open your mind.

Well, inviting foreign regimes set to destroy us to HoC for a cup of tea is less of a deterrent.

Plenty of jobs with Trident.

Right, so you're damn sure but can't say how jobs would be created; given jobs don't magically appear from nowhere, you're happy for thousands of people to lose their jobs immediately, have thousands of small business affected in turn...

None because they know we'd nuke them into oblivion.

Therefore the deterrent works.

What about all the men who no longer get their pensions at 65 will corbyn compensate them?

It seems equality for women only applies if it is to their benefit.

Why should women get their pension at 60 and men get theirs at 65. Women also live 2 years longer than men so get extra 7 years pension than men. This is despite men having to work and pay NI contributions for an extra 5 years.

Does Jeremy have any views on how labour will fun, borrow the extra £54 billion it is going to cost.
