Mercedes F1 and UCL breathing aid approved for NHS use ... 09:43 - Mar 30 with 882 viewstheloneranger

"UCLH critical care consultant Professor Mervyn Singer, UCL Medicine, said: “These devices will help to save lives by ensuring that ventilators, a limited resource, are used only for the most severely ill."

“While they will be tested at UCLH first, we hope they will make a real difference to hospitals across the UK by reducing demand on intensive care staff and beds, as well as helping patients recover without the need for more invasive ventilation.”

Funny that. Plenty of people in the media anda few on here slating this as a stupid idea which will never work or wont be ready on time. Yet looks like they will be rolling out within a week. Private sector being put to good use and proving this wasnt such a stupid move by the Gvernment after all.

Good.

Lots of absolute nonsense posted in the mainstream media as well as social media. Just shows what a load of rubbish we are fed in normal times.

CPAP machines are a lot simpler than ventilators, which we still desperately need.

Sure. More equipment is great. But it's not quite the gotcha Pozuelo's was aiming for. More ventilators are still urgently needed for intensive care cases.

Quite agree, but Italy has said it has cut in half the numbers who need to go on ventilators

Yes, double edged this one; halves the need for ventilation and more efficient than oxygen on its own.
