How many different pubs did we 15:09 - Apr 10 with 7886 viewsTNT

frequent on the way to watching The Mighty Swans at The Vetch Field? The pubs may well not have been in the Swansea vicinity, if you travelled from further afield, and had a sneaky one en route, or may have been regular matchday jaunts.

I'll start with an obvious one, and await the more obscure:

(1). The Builders

Was there a pub on the Kingsway called the Hanbury? 2 floors if I remember correctly wasn’t a bad pub on the way down to vetch.

Brian (Grey I think?)

An absolute whopper of a man.

That's the man, a clever inside forward for the Swans, late sixties early seventies.

Always frequented the Clarence, but the last couple of years at the Vetch, used to call in the Orange House first

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

A few times in the old White Rose but several hundred times in The George on Walter Road - I used to love in there and a cracking pint of Bass.

Proud to have been one of the 231

Correct, also played for the Swans:

BRIAN GREY
Former Welsh Schoolboy midfielder Brian Grey played for Swansea in the 1969 Welsh Cup final. Locally born, he signed professional at the Vetch Field in September 1966 and made his League debut in Swansea's 1-1 draw at home to Exeter a year later. He was a member of Swansea's 1969-70 promotion winning squad and netted eight goals in 30 League games prior to joining Yeovil Town in July 1970. Helping them win the Southern League title and reach the FA Cup third round in 1970-71, he joined Folkestone in July 1972, then played for Merthyr Tydfil.

The Queens without saying plenty of lively times in there...

late 80's early 90's Anyone remember about 100 of us barricading ourselves in there when the Police wanted us out and dispersed out of the city? think it might have been after a Bolton game, we just all randomly barricaded ourselves in there for no reason the police then phoned the landlord in the pub telling him to stop serving us and he told them to feck off!!... We then all left a bit at a time out of the side door and all got taxis to Neath during the fair to meet cardiff fans coming back from an away game ! totally random weird day/night

Are any of the pubs around the vetch still open?

Continuing the thread we used to go to the Badminton when we were youngsters as well.

Great little pub, especially for afters, The Badminton. I had a few slurps in there with Terry Williams, drummer with Dire Straits and many other bands.

He played cricket for them, excellent wicketkeeper.

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

And Wallis robbed one of the Bolton players shoes when their bus stopped outside Macari's chip shop.

Do you remember the Rangers fan who ran the Builder's about 15 years ago?

Nasty little fooker he was.

You might think I've forgotten, but one day, when you least expect it, my time will come.

Potters wheel was the Prince of Wales wasn't it?

The three pubs I remember rolling down the Kingsway were the Hanbury, New Swan and Prince of Wales. Sometimes with a stop off in the Park.

The Potters Wheel was Welsh water offices. And before that car showrooms, but prob going back to the 70's for that.
