There is a lot of lies and lack of understanding worldwide about this virus, when it arrived in countries is something that can be added to the long list for sure.

Then why was such an incredibly infectious virus so slow to take off considering we had months before social distancing and lockdown was even on anyone’s radar? If it was here before Christmas we should have been seeing loads of fatalities long before we did. There were the usual viruses going around in the winter as normal and some of them had similar symptoms.

I think my point was this: I find it somewhat alarming that I found out about the 70% accuracy figure from a doctor, rather than the daily government briefing. When the briefings first started I was surprised by the apparent honesty and lack of self-preening of the spokespeople. Now I am highly sceptical of everything said.
| Deaths 41% higher on 11:22 - Apr 22 with 1543 views | magicdaps10 | Give you an idea, Ireland reported its first case at the end of February when a Northern Irish women flying into Dublin Airport from Italy was confirmed with it.... It was known by gardai in Sligo that there were 3 recorded covid 19 cases of the same family in mid January. Gardai were told to keep quiet as the likely hood of it spreading by the 3 people of the same family who caught it out in Italy as very unlikely. Do the Maths! | |

The information given was not up to scratch, the lack of understanding of a new virus..... Loads of things behind it. There is no question that lots of mistakes have been made towards something we knew nothing about, it is fully understandable without neccesary meaning it is correct.

Every day, the testing number that comes from PHE says that some people have to be tested more than once for clinical reasons (they’ve said before it’s due to inconclusive testing and the6 do it a different way to check). When a colleague of mine was tested early on in this, he had a swab test and a bloody test, and was only confirmed (negative in his case) when both matched up. So the idea that 30% of testing is inaccurate seems unlikely? They rejected the anti body tests due to false results far lower than 30%.

The Australia flu H3N2 was rampant here in Dec/Jan, and has a nearly identical list of symptoms to COVID-19. People are desperate to claim that coronavirus has been here for ages, it's no more harmful than a normal flu, and we've all already had it. Meanwhile the Financial Times is claiming we've now had 41,000 excess deaths linked to coronavirus as opposed to the official confirmed hospital figure of 17,000.

Don’t underestimate the harm of ‘normal flu’. A couple of years ago the excess death from flu was about 50,000 in the UK (2017/18). None of us realise how many it kills because there isn’t a daily count being published. And that’s with a vaccine for flu as well. The only possibility of the virus being here earlier is that, as has happened before in some cases, Spanish Flu being the most well known, there is more than one wave, and this is the second wave and it’s more severe than an earlier, milder, first wave which wasn’t picked up, as deaths were rolled into the flu / pneumonia numbers. That’s possible I guess. There is some talk of three strains, one of which was milder (in China).

So it is quite easy for the both to get tangled up as one or the other. GPS would not have known much about covid19 when Aussie flu would have been known to them. Quite easily could have got passed of as Aussie flu then?

Gp,s wouldn't have known about covid19, But those higher up know that China kept this quiet for about 2 months. That would make it November, and as we know it spreads very easily indeed

It is quite possible that the two could have been confused, all too coincidental and time wise could have been easily in the country when Aussie flu was meant to be strife..... We didn't know enough about covid19 at this point. Lisa has hit it home brilliantly about the second wave(as it is today) possibly being that. This virus is unknown to us all and it seems alot of people are posting "FACTS" when in reality a lot of people are treading in the dark when giving these "FACTS". As to the original post, things are going to be higher, the figures are wrong as is information being given out.... Its a Virus we know little about although learning on it each day but I would not be surprised, as I am sure, that the virus has been around longer than it was forecasted to have been here.

She is genuinely becoming so annoying it’s unbelievable. The FT figure is a bloody estimate. They say so on their graph. They don’t ‘find 41,000 dead’. They estimate 41,000 excess deaths based on an extrapolation which may or may not be correct. It seems about right, but the government are the ones reporting these total figures. Also, the ‘government’ don’t say differently to the ONS, the ONS is the government. There is a time lag of deaths, as every single person who’s ever reported a death knows. You have 14 days to register. There is a difference in daily numbers, which are stated over and over again as hospital only, and total. They’ve explained why. Italy, Spain are doing the same. There’s huge questions about Germany’s reporting. This is sodding ridiculous. There are huge problems with what’s happening. Testing, PPE, anti body testing, care homes in general (which is, by the way a disaster throughout the UK, whichever party is running things). People like her making up crap headlines to get clicks and further her ‘fame’ is sickening. These are actual people who’ve died, not an excuse for people to score points. Some would do well to remember it.

There's no need to official register deaths. Are the registration offices open, are relatives allowed to do so. Docs in hospitals will register the deaths

Of course you have to register deaths. If in hospital it’s done. In a care home, or if someone dies at home, it has to be registered. It’s why deaths at the weekend are lower - the registrars aren’t working. You have to notify the registrar within 5 days (I think) and as I said, it can take 14 days to process (according to reports).

The usual process will be bypassed, as relatives won't be able to register them, but that's right that they can't be done at weekends.Tuesdays figure is always higher
| Deaths 41% higher on 16:36 - Apr 22 with 1327 views | magicdaps10 | So California have announced there was covid19 deaths 3 weeks before the first actual confirmed US death.... Bringing the first death in US to early Feb meaning that the likely hood the virus was there earlier than anticipated. I would say the more autopsies done, the likely hood will be that the virus has been around longer than thought. | |
