| Loughor Bridge & McArthur Glen on 12:07 - Oct 13 by exhmrc1 | The figures I used for timings were the figures of experts not mine.If you look at England just like Wales their figures came down throughout April May and June. When Johnson opened up pubs with his 1 metre plus rule the figures soon started increasing reversing in the wrong direction. This has followed on when Wales opened pubs. Up until Johnson decided to open our borders the figures went down. When he brought in his Air Bridges policy a few weeks later as people returned from holidays the figures started rising and have continued to since. The English scientists and medical advisers just look those in the rest of the UK wanted to keep the 2 metre rule but Johnson decided otherwise. They didnt want to open our borders. Johnson decided otherwise. Mark Drakeford supported Frank Atherton's views. Johnson went against Chris Whitty and Jonathan Van Tan. These medical advisers were right all along. We are now seeing the resuls of the politicians folly and are in a mess because politicians decided they knew better than the advisers. Here is part of an article from Jenny Harries saying the evidence on face masks is not very strong but Johnson still went ahead with the 1 metre rule in order to open pubs Deputy chief medical officer Dr Jenny Harries added: ‘It’s only required in those areas where we can’t maintain social distancing, and it’s school corridors where kids come out of lessons, they’re maybe shouting and excited, bumping into each other — and in areas where there is a high transmission rate. ‘The evidence on face coverings is not very strong in either direction. It certainly isnt as preventive as keeping people 2 metres apart. I don’t think any of that negates anything I say It does not matter whose figures they are, there are too many variables to attribute the variances to mask wearing. Also no evidence that you need to be next to someone at 2 meters for 15 minutes before you catch the virus. Especially if they are sneezing all over you. I am not saying keeping 2meters apart is not good, the further the better obviously (although WHO only dictated 1 meter) but people need to go shopping and even before the recent introduction of masks here, people were not maintaining social distance. As far as scientists are concerned it is very interesting how a number who thought there was little case for masks quite radically have changed their minds. Like I say if someone actually in a shop does maintain 2 meter distance (which they quite often did not, even before we introduced masks) , and potentially is an asymptomatic / low symptom carrier (and given the viral load is normally highest in the early stages) and coughs or sneezess faster than a speeding car (so you cannot possibly get out of the way). Would you 1. Not prefer they were wearing a mask to suppress the sneeze so you were not getting a face full of potentially infected droplets 2. That even if they were not wearing a mask would you not prefer to be wearing one yourself or would you prefer them to discharge their viral load directly into your face? | | | |

Well there are other ways, but I won’t be pedantic But in truth 2 meters does not guarantee protection (and we know lots of people were not adhering to that even before masks introduced ) People often have no option but to food shop themselves Also the virus cannot only be picked up directly from people, but also via food and packaging etc.

I thought the consensus was it is extremely unlikely you’ll catch it from food or packaging. Viruses die very quickly outside of the body on most surfaces, they can survive a bit longer on hard surfaces or metal like door handles but most transmission is from direct human to human contact.

The experts say t doesnt go through food packaging. This was made clear over the outbreaks in Angelsey, Wrexham and Merthyr. They also have evidence from Track, Test and Protect that people brought it back from outside the UK and passed it through pubs and private houses where people hadn't socially distanced correctly. They dont have evidence of it being passed on in shops and the figures showed clear reductions when shop re opened and only increased when pubs were reopened and people came back from abroad.

Maybe this is worth a read, https://apps.who.int/iris/bits Covid than apparently survive up to 72 hours on stainless steel and plastic and up to 24 hours on cardboard. That's why handwashing/sanitising is so important. Yet again with the masks, it contains viral load when you exhale by up to 80% which means a mask protects others but not really the wearer. Wearing masks is an altruistic act to protect other people.

At the time of the incidents at the plants in Wrexham, Angelsey and Merthyr Tydfil it was made clear on many occasions that there would be no danger to pubic health. There were also similar comments about plants over the border. At around the times of these incidents there was no rise in figures so this supports this. On a couple of occasions public health advisers in Wales have made it absolutely clear that it is very unlikely you will catch it from people you dont know. It is spread through people you know in private homes and meeting up with others in pubs where social distancing hasnt taken place. That is why it spreads through families, in pubs and lately in students who live closely in halls of residence and houses of multiple occupancy. Proper social distancing prevents it as far as possible away. Keeping borders closed prevents it. There is clear evidence that countries who have kept their borders closed have very few cases. Good hand hygiene helps to stop it spread. The truth is that there is very little evidence using masks prevents it and that is supported by scientists and medical advisers on both sides of our border. When we followed the 2 metre rule, proper hand washing and keeping our borders closed the amount of virus reduced. Since we decided to put business before tackling the virus cases have returned with a vengeance. People need to look at what works and what doesnt and ensure we follow the correct policy which was used initially and which sadly our government decided against doing and we are paying for their folly and going against our medical and scientific advisers advice.
| Loughor Bridge & McArthur Glen on 20:47 - Oct 23 with 741 views | britferry | The police are loving the lockdown... Police stopped 130 vehicles from crossing over a bridge linking Swansea and Llanelli in just a single afternoon. Officers from Dyfed-Powys set up a checkpoint on Loughor Bridge on Thursday, October 22, before telling motorists to pull over. Drivers were then questioned about their journeys during the operation, which also involved the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Natural Resources Wales. Swansea and Llanelli have been local lockdown rules, meaning that residents should not leave the areas unless their journey is essential. The force said that out of 130 cars, officers" issued a number of drivers with advice" on lockdown rules and journeys as well as: - 11 driver warnings - Four vehicles seized after drivers were caught without insurance or licenses - 13 "other" motoring offenses reported for summons - Two vehicles not having an MOT - Two prohibition notices for unfit vehicles - And one vehicle issued advice regarding waste carriers license https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ | |

| Loughor Bridge & McArthur Glen on 10:31 - Oct 12 by exhmrc1 | Laws are Laws and many are brought in for public safety. Just because you dont agree with one doesnt give you the right to break it. Perhaps there is nobody getting killed by drunk drivers so we shouldnt have that law either and let people get killed because of it. A law has been brought in and we have to obey it just like I have to wear masks. The law in Wales is absolutely clear. You are not meant to leave your county expect for things like work or education. You shouldnt be travelling outside your county for shopping. People travelling from Carmarthenshire to Swansea or vice versa or travelling to a shopping centre if they are outside Bridgend are breaking the law just as much as people speeding, robbing the bank or drink driving and deserve to be punished, These policies are introduced to keep us all safr. |

Good to see the officers of Dyfed Powys are keeping their communities safe. Especially good to see vehicles with no insurance taken off the road. Their colleagues from Gwent had quite a few motorcycles parked up on the M4 just after the Severn Bridge when I was returning home earlier today. They seemed to be focussing on camper vans coming in to Wales.

"Civil liberties taken away"...fecking minge bag, get a grip! I dread to think what would happen to this country if WW3 broke out, it's full of moaning little pussies with no spines...embarrassing windbags. |
"Do as they are told" one small statement there. I caught a quick clip on TV of what looked like Tesco's taking non essential things OFF the shelf....Unbelievable now we are being told what we can buy and what we can't. Yes civil liberties are being taken away!

Yes, and wear masks when it's not possible to avoid other people like public transport or supermarkets

That was done under lab conditions. A Belgian virologist went to supermarkets and found it wasn't really on surfaces. Masks do reduce the viral load, and if they protect other ppl, then by their very nature they must protect the wearer. They are a barrier and a filter Everyone wearing masks and keeping their distance , should give virtually 100% protection
