Swansea City come into this game following a 2-0 win over 10-man Luton Town on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium. An early first-half goal from Welsh right-back Connor Roberts and a late second-half goal from Ghana international Andre Ayew secured the win for the Swans against Luton Town, who had defender Matt Pearson sent off in the second half. Bournemouth, on the other hand, beat Barnsley 4-0 on Friday at Oakwell. Goals from Denmark international Philip Billing, striker Dominic Solanke, Spanish left-back Diego Rico and young forward Sam Surridge ensured a comfortable victory for Bournemouth. The two clubs last faced each other in 2018 in the English Premier League, with Bournemouth beating Swansea City 1-0. A first-half goal from winger Ryan Fraser, now at Newcastle United, secured the win for Bournemouth. Swansea City form guide in the EFL Championship: W-D-W-L-W Bournemouth form guide in the EFL Championship: W-W-D-L-W THEY PLAYED FOR BOTH CLUBS Yes, they probably did. WHAT IS A BOURNEMOUTH ? Its an odd stat but the club that is Bournemouth is called the cherries, and everyone from Bournemouth still hasn't actually had some cherries and lost them. It may well be that this could happen in the future, but as it hasn't happened yet its a real Bournemouth fact. Bournemouth has a pier, it was set on fire by the IRA by all accounts and in the summer of 2020 twenty eight thousand morons or indeed non morons all sat on the beach together and passed on a variety of illnesses including the ficticous Covid-19 which isn't real unless you die from it. Then it all of a sudden becomes very real. SO, WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW ? Between August 1963 and October 1964 the Beatles played more live gigs in Bournemouth than anywhere else in the UK, outside of London. This may well have had a detrimental effect on the local populous. John Lennon bought a house for his Aunt Mimi in neighbouring Sandbanks and spent a lot of his time with her there. The identity of Jack the Ripper is still unknown to this day. One of the men who the police suspected at the time was Montague Druitt. He was a barrister whose body was found in the River Thames shortly after the last murder. Could the killings have stopped because the killer himself was dead ? Druitt used to play cricket for the gentlemen of Bournemouth. Cricket is a game where a ball is hit with a bat, much the same as a head is hit with a bat in Whitechapel or in any other situation where a head is hit with a bat. This is the Beatles yesterday at the old Boscombe charity clothes shop, less than 50p section. This is Steve Cooper, lovely chap. COOPER TALKS It makes for a mouthwatering prospect, and a game the Swans are very much looking forward to. "They've scored a lot of goals recently. For me, they're the strongest squad - in terms of talent and depth - in the league," said head coach Cooper. "I'm not surprised at how well they're doing with the amount of good players they have at their availability. They can make loads of changes and they don't lose any strength in the team. "But we're at home and we want to win. "We just know that when we come up against them on Tuesday and when we play them again later in the season, it's going to be as tough a game as any. "But at the end of the day, we need to get excited about these games." | Swansea City v Bournemouth : Official Matchday Thread TEAM NEWS on 21:58 - Dec 8 by jackrabbit | A good point in a game neither team deserved to win. I can’t be too hard on the lack of quality displayed by either team though. How could any team play football on that cabbage patch? Our pitch is past a joke now - it is a total disgrace. From memory of my long ago playing days, I’d say they’d be better off moving the next home game to Ashleigh Road - no fans, so nothing lost, and the playing surface from memory was much better than what we saw tonight. I switched over at the end to see the end of the Stoke v Cardiff game - the pitch looked like a billiard table in comparison. Incidentally, Swans better be a bit miserly with opposition corners on Saturday. Cardiff scored twice from corners tonight. Four wins on the trot now. Tough challenge. |

Ni disrespect to Luton but I wouldn't expect them to come down here and have a lion share of possession at the best of times, never mind when they are down to 10 men for 25 minutes. Bournemouth I can accept for reasons stated earlier in thread.

Yes. It he dived twice in the box. Latibeaudiere made a fool out of him by very cleverly making sure he got his feet and legs out.

And? That’s implied negativity and a criticism of our lads for the sake of it. Give it a rest. We’ve conceded 10 goals only all season in a very competitive league. That’s some record and our team defended as though their lives depended on it against a very strong, talented Bournemouth team with Premier League quality right through it from 1 to 11. We are playing to our strengths and getting good results. Until we can strengthen our forward / attacking options long may it continue.

No criticism of the players as I know they can play passing and possession football ... I just don't believe Cooper has the ability to coach and instill that style.

To play “ passing and possession “ football as you call it you must have an end product, you need talented attack minded and preferably quick players in wide areas , central and attacking areas to being able to penetrate well drilled opposition defensive set ups. You do not pass a ball around for the sake of it mainly in deep positions if you cannot penetrate. We don’t have that attacking quality Ayew apart. Then often those attack minded players aren’t able to offer much ( or anything ) defensively so it’s about a balance. We aren’t too far away. It’s so easy to criticise. It might mean going out and spending £20m though ...

Sinclair, Boini and Michu didn't break the bank but hey did have managers who knew how to get the best out of the available players.

Neither Michu nor Borini needed managers to get the best out of them. Nor any other talented frontline. Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole defied coaching intervention, even from one of the best. Ayew doesn't need coaching intervention. He leads our frontline and midfield. He shapes, orchestrates and leads by example. Others follow and Grimes picks up the baton behind. He shapes and orchestrates our defensive line.

Na there's a clip doing the rounds on twitter. Clearly shows Brooks going down before he's got to Latibeaudieres legs, which he did well to move out of the way. Let alone the theatrical fall afterwards. Credit to the ref for not falling for it in real time.

Brooks was at it all night. In this instance he did exactly what Ashley Young used to do for Man Utd - dive over an imaginary fence before contact is made. It just looks ridiculous. Unfortunately refs often fall for it.

It's what young players are taught in British academies. All sorts of gamesmanship and cheating. Some of them these days can barely trap a ball but they know to kick a ball away and stand on a free kick. Players who can dangle a leg in the penalty area and fake a foul get a pat on the back and a new contract.

Its not a dive,it may look like one but when your going one way at speed and change direction by cutting back you plant your foot to stop and bounce back so both feet are then off floor to get the change in direction and one sligt touch will put you off balance and make it look like a dive but it was no way a dive..if that was us I would be disappointed if we was not awarded one

So why was he on the way down before there was any contact? Plus, did you notice there were no great protests from the Bournemouth players? Tells you everything. [Post edited 10 Dec 2020 16:29]

| Swansea City v Bournemouth : Official Matchday Thread REACTION on 16:35 - Dec 10 with 545 views | Badlands | Re Brooks. I noted a Bournemouth newspaper had a few comments following an article from their manager claiming it was a penalty. Of the 6 only one thought it was a penalty. 2 not and three not sure after looking at replays. I age In real time it looked like Brooks was determined to con the ref. They are given unfortunately. The ref should have booked the cheating lit shyster which suggests he might have been evening out the Swans hand ball claim earlier. | |
