LATEST STUFF
Swansea City are set to play hosts to Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday in their next EFL Championship game. Swansea City come into this game following a 2-0 win over 10-man Luton Town on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium. An early first-half goal from Welsh right-back Connor Roberts and a late second-half goal from Ghana international Andre Ayew secured the win for the Swans against Luton Town, who had defender Matt Pearson sent off in the second half.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, beat Barnsley 4-0 on Friday at Oakwell.
Goals from Denmark international Philip Billing, striker Dominic Solanke, Spanish left-back Diego Rico and young forward Sam Surridge ensured a comfortable victory for Bournemouth.

The two clubs last faced each other in 2018 in the English Premier League, with Bournemouth beating Swansea City 1-0. A first-half goal from winger Ryan Fraser, now at Newcastle United, secured the win for Bournemouth.

THEY PLAYED FOR BOTH CLUBS
Yes, they probably did.

WHAT IS A BOURNEMOUTH ?
Its an odd stat but the club that is Bournemouth is called the cherries, and everyone from Bournemouth still hasn't actually had some cherries and lost them. It may well be that this could happen in the future, but as it hasn't happened yet its a real Bournemouth fact. Bournemouth has a pier, it was set on fire by the IRA by all accounts and in the summer of 2020 twenty eight thousand morons or indeed non morons all sat on the beach together and passed on a variety of illnesses including the ficticous Covid-19 which isn't real unless you die from it. Then it all of a sudden becomes very real.

SO, WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW ?
Between August 1963 and October 1964 the Beatles played more live gigs in Bournemouth than anywhere else in the UK, outside of London. This may well have had a detrimental effect on the local populous. John Lennon bought a house for his Aunt Mimi in neighbouring Sandbanks and spent a lot of his time with her there. The identity of Jack the Ripper is still unknown to this day. One of the men who the police suspected at the time was Montague Druitt. He was a barrister whose body was found in the River Thames shortly after the last murder. Could the killings have stopped because the killer himself was dead ? Druitt used to play cricket for the gentlemen of Bournemouth. Cricket is a game where a ball is hit with a bat, much the same as a head is hit with a bat in Whitechapel or in any other situation where a head is hit with a bat.

This is the Beatles yesterday at the old Boscombe charity clothes shop, less than 50p section.

This is Steve Cooper, lovely chap.

COOPER TALKS
It makes for a mouthwatering prospect, and a game the Swans are very much looking forward to. "They've scored a lot of goals recently. For me, they're the strongest squad - in terms of talent and depth - in the league," said head coach Cooper. "I'm not surprised at how well they're doing with the amount of good players they have at their availability. They can make loads of changes and they don't lose any strength in the team.

"But we're at home and we want to win.

"We just know that when we come up against them on Tuesday and when we play them again later in the season, it's going to be as tough a game as any. "But at the end of the day, we need to get excited about these games."

For those that don’t know this is what is referred to as a fixture

It’s a good sign we are picking up points without playing well but I hope we start playing well at some point.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Excellent result, and very decent controlled performance against a top top team

I don't know if it was the way we played, but I didn't think much of Bournemouth at all.
Although I lost the feed for the last 15 minutes.
But then I have never liked bulllying, niggly teams.

Good point in the end. Good defending and kept our shape most of the match.

Joel Latibeaudiere looks a great prospect.

An excellent first 90 mins!

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

Gritty.
Latibeaudiere and Cabango were immense. Good dry run for Ben for Saturday.
Fair play to Grimes 70 minutes of graft.
Roberts and Ayew performed really well but he rest was a team effort but somewhat frenetic.
Please Brooke was taken off ... cheating little shyster.

Won't be a popular opinion, but thought KN26 hard a great game, talking to the youngsters and his positioning was outstanding.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Considering how under par we've been recently I thought a point was a decent result all things considered , a change of personnel at the back again with no goals conceded and chance to see how Joel Latibeaudiere would fare so a few minor positives from tonight , keep ticking over in the top six and see what January brings in terms of much needed striker and kick on from there

We're going through a period when our form isn't great, and against that background this was a very good result. Lots of gritty performances in the defensive half.

A good point in a game neither team deserved to win. I can’t be too hard on the lack of quality displayed by either team though. How could any team play football on that cabbage patch? Our pitch is past a joke now - it is a total disgrace.
From memory of my long ago playing days, I’d say they’d be better off moving the next home game to Ashleigh Road - no fans, so nothing lost, and the playing surface from memory was much better than what we saw tonight.
I switched over at the end to see the end of the Stoke v Cardiff game - the pitch looked like a billiard table in comparison.

Incidentally, Swans better be a bit miserly with opposition corners on Saturday. Cardiff scored twice from corners tonight. Four wins on the trot now. Tough challenge.

We definitely played to our strengths & with Bennett plus Guehi due back shortly we are fine at the back & in holding midfield - both key areas to collect points & being incredibly difficult to beat - that delivered a hard won point tonight.

That said unless we can add real quality at the top of the pitch in January then it’s top 8/10 at best with too many draws & the occasional frustrating defeat when we lose a tight game.

Interesting to see how much our American friends are willing to gamble with.

The clearly never saw the state of the vetch field in December nor did you ever play at Ashleigh road if you think it is better than the Liberty even in its current state. No use complaining about it now noth6much can be done until the close season.

Have to say... fair play to Cooper. He got it right under difficult conditions. The players delivered on the patch despite the odd flutter. They had one shot on target. Need to freshen midfield on Saturday. Fulton has had a good rest and needs to play as does Palmer.

I’ve seen Penydarren Park and the Vetch Field in December. And I’ve seen many other mud bath pitches in the winter - there was never a blade of grass in the goal area.

But that was in the 50s and 60s. Things have moved on a bit since those days. Modern pitches tend to be pristine svelte playing surfaces, as did the Liberty in our PL days, and prior to that. That’s why the current state is so shocking. If we did get promotion I doubt the Premier League would allow matches on that surface.

I’ll ignore your insolent comment about me and my experience of Ashleigh Road. I assure you, I played some of my best football on those hallowed fields when I was a student at UC Swansea, and again when i worked at the DVLA for 2 years in the 70s. I also scored some great goals there. If you can spare an hour or two I’ll talk you through one or two of them.

Not even bothered about the lack of attacking football off us tonight, that pitch was not fit for ska Championship football match.

Good point against the leagues best team imo. Latibeaudiere was quality, lucky to get away with challenge on Brookes but looked quick over the ground and decent in position. Cabango was outstanding.

Talking to a few Cardiff supporters they reckon they were awful tonight, they seem to be able to stay in games, stoke missed a pen, lost their striker to injury and capitulated. Wilson went off injured aswell. I’m feeling quietly confident about Saturday.

He's been oytstanding for some time. Such a clever player, natural athlete and a massive quietly assured presence.

In our top 10 for assists says it all.
