The actions of Governments all over the world are shaped on the basis of the PCR COVID test results. For months now there have been serious question marks over the accuracy of the tests. Well now there is a definitive study on the original research and it's world wide adoption which is totally condemning.

Unfortunately the positivity rate in Swansea is more like 25%. Our hospitals are overrun with covid patients hampering other services.
There's no doubt that we missed loads of positive cases in the spring but we are in as bad a position now in terms of hospital admissions.
Have you got the figures for how many actual covid patients are there? Because I've seen on the national news some doctor saying 'all our covid beds are full', but then it was broken down, the hospital in question had 8 beds allocated for covid patients.

Even taking away the highly dubious pcr testing..
Let's go with increase in testing, so even using basic calculations, it's not rocket science to work out that on average they are getting a hit rate of 10-12% of positive cases..
So, by thinking of that, think of when the virus started February/March, although they never ramped up the testing properly till September, then the virus must have surely passed, or the results coming back are rubbish.
What would the positive cases been at the end of March, with near on 20,000 tests carried out?
There is an estimate that mass testing would have picked up 200k cases per day at the peak in spring. The PCR test is not dubious. Only to those who cannot or will not understand it

That was my point, taking away the pcr.. Looking at today's figures, tests carried out are last time I looked 20k in Wales alone, so no testing proper since September, then surely many, many people have had it.

The figures are on the public health Wales website.
ITU in Morriston have covid patients in overflow units that weren't used in the spring.

Thanks, I have played around with the PHW website in the past, I will look again over the coming week, certain things I was looking for before, did seem kind of hard to access easily though, but I will give it a go,

Which was my argument when testing was ramped up, you test more- you find more.
Our friend, the tax man had at her ideas though, said that couldn’t be the case.

Which comes down to my comments a couple of weeks ago, it’s how you spin the figures.
You can scare people by saying the beds are full then you could also tell them that there are only 8 beds, not so bad then.

That's completely out of context though isn't it?
I'm not convinced that is a direct quote and the answer to the question was referring to how likely someone would be to infect someone else, not that they were a "false positive".
Also the Portuguese case refers to one particular test on an individual tourist. That's not exactly conclusive is it?
The world hasn't been conned over covid 19, you're being conned thinking it has.

The question Cauci was asked was on the sensitivity of the tests. He actually said that any PCR test using 36 or 37 cycles or above was not finding the COVID-19 virus it was finding dead nucleotides. At those cycles they could not obtain a viable virus. So when someone is tested and found positive they should ask what cycles the test was run at. Listen for yourself
The Portuguese court case was for 4 people being held in quarantine based on the PCR test, the Judges ruled that the test was not accurate enough to detain people. I assume they had some kind of expert advice to reach their decision.

Dr Fauci says that at cycles over 35 the test IS dubious, in fact what he says is that when given a positive test you should be given or ask for the number of cycles. In his own words.
So which of you is correct, your goto expert or you with your years of experience, is he confused, lying, or what? Please clarify.

Which apart from it being four tourists instead of one is exactly what I said.
PCR may identify convalescent Covid patients but not false positives, and the PCR test is not completely infallible which I don't think anyone has ever claimed it to be? Remember false negatives are more common than false positives.
This to me sounds like a couple of claims that conspiracy theorists have jumped on but are taken totally out of context.

As usual you are waffling. They are both as I said, so Fauci is wrong then, when he said that was the reason for false positives that then tested negative?

That is correct. PCR will pick up non-viable virus and some free RNA. It is a positive as the indivdiual has been infected but may not be infectious. The conspiracy is largely moot as nearly all come up at a Ct range of 18-30. We design our assays to have a sweet spot of around Ct22. There are few coming up beyond Ct 35. RNA is pretty unstable so people will not come up a positive more than a few days after being infectious. False positives are really a complete no n-issue. Was surprised that the LFD performed that well and B’Ham Uni. We are also using them for students to allow travel home.
I have some sympathy with what Fauci says, and ideally we would be better able to define a cut off. BUT the danger of false negatives needs to be better addressed first. Alan Mc is also sequencing PCR products which will absolutely define positives. They found none in over 10k samples

There is nothing vague in my response. My opinion is clear. You've taken this out of context from a website that has posted it out of context.
The world has not been conned over covid 19 - you have been by these crazy websites. PCR isn't perfect (hence the Portugese case) but is as good as we have got. It identifies the unique genetic sequence of a virus that has killed people and put others in hospital. Other people have got better and the virus is no longer in their bodies (Fauci)
They key points are the uniqueness of the genetic sequence that is / was found in both the dead people (who were real) and the people in hospital (who are real).
I'm not pretending to be an expert - but that's what I've taken from your evidence. No waffling needed.

"Other people have got better and the virus is no longer in their bodies (Fauci)" Nope, tested one day positive, tested again a short time later negative. The con is not over COVID-19, it is over the usefulness and cost of the testing. Countries are being continously locked down based on these tests.

You got a better test then?
Funnily enough you can go from being positive to negative. That’s usually called immune clearance. And from negative to positive -which is called infection. Beyond a full shotgun metagenomic sequencing of samples it is by far the best possible test. Quick, robust and relatively cheap. Easy to scale up to achieve the numbers needed. LFDs are good for mass screening, but will have more errors. Viral culture is not feasible for the numbers, costly, slow and less reliable.
Decisions are not being made on a poor test. Go read some real science not the BS on YouTube. I would be happier taking a 1-2% false positive rate over the a 20% false negative if the test was increased to a higher specificity. Current reckoning is about 99.5% specific and 97% sensitive in U.K. testing

Then according to you as it is not false positives it must be finding asymptomatic cases, which is just as bad for decision making purposes. Their old decision making was based on most symptomatic cases being tested and found positive and that made sense. They now appear to be trying to apply the same decisions to people who appear to be positive but will not overload the hospitals and ICUs. They should only be using symptomatic cases for such draconion lockdown decisions.

Yes it does look bad, but it is not a true count of those with COVID-19 symptoms, it is the count of those tested positive. Which as we know are two different things.
The problem is that there has never been any decent data that I am aware of on how many people who have tested positive also have symptoms, so after 9 months we still don't know, but they call them cases. Where is the definitive data of what percentage of positive tests leads to actually being a "case". We are one of the few countries reporting to Worldometers that do not declare how many patients have recovered and how many are still infected.

How are they allowed to get away with calling positive results cases?
Surely a case is when you fall ill with the virus.

I see the UK media aka Sky news are now reporting Sweden has gone in to turmoil and they are having to send patients to neighboring countries to die or get treated, yet when you go and check the statistics on the truthful independent outlets they have not registered more than twenty deaths a day during the last 7 months, all a bit strange, and no one seems to question why a country for what seems that they never locked down are up against such a propaganda of lies from the likes of the UK.
