| Good bye to Mr and Mr then on 18:03 - Feb 17 by londonlisa2001 | Nope - you posted without it occurring that exactly the same thing has been and is happening in reverse across many more States and countries than California. They don’t refuse to employ people who are not a minority. Firstly the diversity targets are at board level, and secondly they are additive not instead of. It’s always amusing when Trumpies say how they hate identity politics when the whole ‘Maga’ thing is more tied up with identity than anything the ‘other side’ ever indulge in. They even all have little matching hats ffs. It being illegal to employ someone because the are gay is as much ‘identity politics’ as employing someone because they are gay. And the former is far more prevalent than the latter. California doesn’t have any tax rate of 54% btw. The top rate that applies there is just over 50%. And that’s for earnings in excess of $1m. Not much different than we have in the UK and ours kicks in at around £150k. California has relatively reasonable sales and property taxes of course. It’s all swings and roundabouts. And many of the biggest companies in the US are still based there, including Apple, Alphabet, Intel, Chevron, HP, and Facebook. Yes, Tesla have moved with the usual ‘look at me’ trumpeting from Elon Musk, but much of that was around incentives. |
I have no idea what you mean regarding posting without it occurring? Again, in California they are putting in a mandate that companies have quotas to fill with regards to minorities, including sexuality. Yes at board level, what has that got to do with anything? That means if a gay person and a straight person go for a position and there are no other applicants, if the gay person is a worse candidate (yet they don’t have a minority yet) - the straight person would be denied employment based on his/her sexuality. That’s awful. No idea what you are going on about regarding “Trumpies” either? I assume you are taking the opportunity to rant at people you perceive to be your political opposition rather than make any kind of legible on topic point. I don’t have a MAGA hat and don’t identify as anything much other than an individual, so if it is me you are referring to (which seems to be the case) then that a pretty poor assumption. Maybe a “Common-Sensie”?. But it seems you may be into stereotyping which is strange considering your stance on such behaviour. 54% (53.8%) tax hike proposal:- https://www.google.com.au/amp/ The state is also in its record low population growth. I know many libs and SJW types like to deny what’s in front of their face against all common sense but this is the way it is. Employing based on anything other than talent and experience is absolutely wrong, that’s just obvious to anyone without some kind of political agenda. Identity politics is gross and has always been this way. The California exodus:- https://www.google.com.au/amp/ Sorry you disagree, but regardless of your opinion - people are still leaving California in their droves, taking the jobs they provide with them and employment based on identity profiling is not a step forward. Anything else is just bumf. [Post edited 18 Feb 2021 6:28]

I defend common sense, not Trump. I don’t “stick up” for anyone. It just so happens that the majority of the nonsense heads his way (much of it from yourself, which I assume is where your gripe lays) from sensationalist media and Libs who feel threatened that he is someone they cannot control or manipulate. He could create a cure for cancer and it would be reported on here that he has done it for financial gain or to stoke his ego or such like. It’s quite extraordinary. Trump is the embodiment of anti identity politics and cancel culture. You have read a poorly thought out article headline and ran with it. I can’t help you with that. That anti-identity politics, and a better quality of life is why people vote for him. It’s about business, it’s about drive and it’s about entrepreneurial attitude - this victim and professionally offended attitude that has creeped into society is pushed to the wayside. Democrats love the identity politics which is why they brought the race card to the table and ensured it stayed on there until it stuck, because they could make no headway on the political front. People are still banging on about it. You along with others fall over yourself to ridicule politics you don’t like, even going to extreme lengths and round about interpretations to do so. You then rely on the most bonkers and outrageous stuff to promote your own politics. It’s quite incredible, but it’s nothing out of the ordinary in this day and age. You aren’t a bad poster I just wish you weren’t so blinded by hatred. Some of the lengths and obvious wild reaches I have witnessed over the last 12 months on here in order to manipulate reality to an alternate narrative has been incredible. But you aren’t the only one and you won’t be the last. [Post edited 18 Feb 2021 12:25]

Lengths and wild reaches, more soundbite meant to deride. I don't hate Trump. I have no political favourite in the USA, I've been critical of Biden too but you ignore that to claim I hate Trump. Where was the common sense in Trump claiming voter fraud without any credible evidence? EVERY court turned down his cases because there was no credible evidence, where is the common sense in defending that? It's your opinion that article is poorly thought out, why, well obviously because it criticises Trump and you can't have that. If I am blinded by hatred, it's a hatred of all politicians. Try and find one I regularly say nice things about. There is the odd recognition of something good but generally I struggle to find any politician I think good. What you are guilty of is the ame behaviour as the many Left wing posters that no longer use this site. When I criticised Corbyn I was obviousy pro Tory and to them, when I criticised Bojo it was purely to hide my real political leaning. You are doing the same by accusing me of hating Trump....maybe I hate Biden too eh? Maybe I don't hate either and think the USA was caught between the same rock and hard place the UK was with Bojo and Corbyn. All those people who votd for Trump, well Biden won the popular vote by over 7 million in a record turnout. Bonkers and outrageous stuff to promote my own politics you say, well what are my politics, do you know? WHo do I vote for? Am I left or right? You should know the answer because we've been here before but still you make false claims and why? Well it's all in defence of Trump.

No soundbites, no derision. That seems to be what you say when you don’t like what you read. I gave you examples, the latest being that Trump planned the riot in conjunction with another group. Just bonkers stuff. In this thread you have read a left wing opinion piece, that in itself took a wild reach and you have decided that is enough to call Trump “the poster boy of identity politics”, which is up there with the most ridiculous things I’ve heard considering he’s clearly the opposite of it. I disagree, I think it’s clear you hate Trump. Being critical and being intentionally manipulative in order to take a slant are wildly different things. I don’t see you doing that with Biden. Trump thought there was voter fraud. You can certainly see why he would think so, some of the numbers coming in late seemed extraordinary, especially with the voting system brought in by the Dems with a history of weaknesses and manipulation. I don’t know what you mean by “defending it”? I have always said I have no idea whether there was or not, but all accusations need to be followed up thoroughly. That’s common sense isn’t it? It’s poorly thought out because it immediately defaults to race, which is what the Dems do and is wholly inaccurate. Considering a large portion of Trumps votes came from non whites, in fact he increased his support in all races and genders apart from white males. The article ignores the facts and promoted a falsehood that democrats have been doing for years associating race with the administration. It’s been a sham from the beginning and it continues to be. Your political views are anti-trump. That’s clear. What your wider political leanings are, are of no consequence to me or the conversation. Doesn’t matter if Biden won the election, essentially half of America voted for Trump and they did so for the reasons I state, that hasn’t gone away. You can keep banging on about this bizarre “defending Trump” rhetoric but that’s all it will be, noise. Your attacks on him and his administration rarely hold any sort of weight and intentionally ignore common sense to bend the narrative. When I add common sense in, you claim it is defending him. I can’t help with that, I will continue with the common sense view. You will just have to deal with it I’m afraid. Stop making silly reaching comments and I won’t have to put them right. Easy. You said, and I quote: “ Could you imagine a day where we would be getting or denied jobs not on ability but on who we are attracted to? Madness.” People have been getting or denied jobs based on who they are attracted to for ever. You quite obviously didn’t think of that when you posted. No problem - you made a silly mistake without thinking. Everyone does it. Don’t make it worse by pretending you didn’t, as it’s more than obvious. As for the rest: “ That means if a gay person and a straight person go for a position and there are no other applicants, if the gay person is a worse candidate (yet they don’t have a minority yet) - the straight person would be denied employment based on his/her sexuality. That’s awful. ” Nope. That’s a misunderstanding of the suggestion (which is quite likely to get overturned anyway btw). As I explained, it is additive. So if a company has a board of directors who have no representation from either people of different ethnic background, different sexuality, or people who are transgender, they appoint an additional director (or more, depending on the size of the board) who brings an element of diversity. It’s not a case of a gay person and a straight person ‘going for a position’. I was laughing at your position on ‘identity politics’ not ranting about it. A bunch of people saying they hate identity politics while all wearing their little matching hats - it’s hilarious. Your article on tax rates is outdated. The proposal (to increase the top rate of taxation to close to 54% on those that earn in excess of $5m ) didn’t pass. So you’re criticising a tax rate that doesn’t exist. Re population growth etc - so? Not even remotely relevant to the point I made. On the more general point that employing people based on anything other than talent and experience is wrong. I agree. But the issue is that the person judging the talent and experience tends to employ those most similar to themselves. That’s their benchmark of talent and experience. If a large company has a wide and diverse range of customers, having people with experience of those customers is a very valid way forward. It would be impossible for me to understand fully the requirements of a community of which I am not, and never could be, part. But that’s by the by. The issue is that companies have been unbelievably slow in moving voluntarily to a more diverse leadership. Because people appoint ‘their own’. That’s as much ‘identity’ politics as anything else.

Yes I did say that. Stand by it too. People have not been getting denied jobs on who they are attracted to forever. It’s very rare. In the overwhelming amount of cases you get hired based on suitability . Yet it’s now going to be mandated, there is a huge difference - although I’m sure you know that. How on earth is that even close to “making a mistake”. Don’t be so silly. Doesn’t matter if it’s being described as an additive, it’s ridiculous. It’s mandated and must be complete by the end of 2021. As a company I may be wanting an extra person in the boardroom. Yet I would be forced to employ someone I may not think is right for the role simply because they are gay, denying a more suitable candidate. Some companies may not have the budget for any more bodies on the board. Money doesn’t grow on trees. It’s madness and it should absolutely get binned... although it’s California so it very feasibly won’t. You weren’t laughing at anything, you were stirring the witches cauldron, as you tend to do. I don’t have a MAGA hat, as I assume you don’t have a pussy hat right? Maybe you do? Many other feminists do. I’m sure you can see why your assumption is ridiculous now? Identity politics is disgusting, as are these stereotypes. I’m telling you there is a mass exodus from California, you tried to claim it was only really Tesla. Well no, you are wrong. It’s not just Musk, it’s hundreds of thousands of people and as a result they California is in its lowest growth period, really is basic stuff. If you want to deny that then it’s up to you, but you are quite clearly wrong. Nope. I’m criticising California, their taxes, their tax proposals and the fact they punish successful people. Ask the people that live there if you won’t believe little old me. https://www.google.com.au/amp/ I’m glad you agree that basing hiring decisions on anything other than talent and experience is wrong. It seems I was right and you took a post you agreed with and made it sound like you didn’t to further a political point and rant at someone you deem to be a “Trumpie” as you call them. I can’t help you with that.

Yes they have. As I’ve said, it’s illegal in many States and countries to do certain jobs if you’re gay. Has been forever. You made a completely stupid point given the history of this stuff happening and, as usual, won’t admit it. I was absolutely laughing. The Maga idiots who moan about identity politics are hilarious in their lack of self awareness. I didn’t say you have one of their little hats. Who cares. I also didn’t claim it was only Tesla. You continue to make stuff up. On the contrary I simply pointed out that many of the biggest companies in the US remain in California. There are all sorts of reasons why companies are based where they are. Income tax is only one part. California has a fairer corporation tax regime than many states. It’s far more complicated than you seem to think. Not sure why you posted another article though about a tax increase that didn’t happen anyway. California doesn’t have the rate that you said it does. You were not correct. I wasn’t nor am I ranting - I’m just pointing out your post was utter nonsense. Lisa it’s rare (in the Western world). What % of jobs are as you describe, do you know? There is nothing remotely stupid (or wrong) about my point. My point was that hiring by sexuality as opposed to talent and experience is ridiculous. In reference to the California mandate where people believe they are doing these things for the good of humanity and absolutely messing it up... you know, in keeping with the theme of the thread. This mandate brings it into every boardroom in California, regardless of industry, it makes it mainstream... you cannot compare. Although not surprising you tried. You were referencing me, otherwise what on earth point are you making? I am referencing identity politics, maybe take it up with them? As I have told you three times now, I do not own a MAGA hat, am not a “MAGA idiot” and don’t identify as such. We talk about misgendering someone, can you mis politicise someone? Because you are certainly trying. The California exodus is happening, and for the reasons I state. You tried to play it down by pointing to Musk leaving as if the fact was based on that. That’s wrong, but I’m sure you knew that when you typed it. I posted the article because it shows the tax (already very high), the people who live there and their views on that tax rate and the proposals that are always on the tip of the tongue for California. It really isn’t difficult to understand. That point was, is and always will be correct - just like the rest of what I typed. You saw my username and got all ranty. It’s fine it’s what you do, it’s what you have always done, I’m not offended. But I’m glad you agree the Democrat driven California mandate is wrong after all, you could have just said so.... It is currently legal in many States in the US for any business with less than 15 employees to sack someone simply because they are gay. No other reason. No cause. Just because of who they are attracted to, It was only in June of last year (yes, 2020) that the Supreme Court finally ruled it was not legal to sack someone for being gay in companies where Title VII of the Civil Rights Act applies (companies with more than 15 employees). Until then, roughly half of all employees in the US could be summarily dismissed just for being gay as they were in States without protection. It is illegal just as another example, for someone to serve in the US military if they are transgender. Nothing to do with ability there. Trump brought in that legislation, by the way, overturning Obama’s legislation. Your post was absolutely ridiculous as it was framed as though employing people according to their sexuality was something previously unheard of. “ Could you imagine a day ” you said. When that day has existed for many millions of people for ever. As I’ve said repeatedly, I don’t care whether you have a Maga hat. I really don’t. And I can’t be bothered to enter into a long discussion with you over taxation. You didn’t even know the legislation hadn’t passed so any further discussion is a waste of time. Tax in the US is very complicated. Far more so than it is here. And it is excruciatingly boring. As for the ‘seeing your name’ bit, you are mistaken. God knows when I last bothered to respond to one of your posts. I only responded to this one as it was so utterly ridiculous. Edit - your habit of editing your posts after the event is truly tiresome. But inserting ‘ in the western world’ has no effect given I’ve specifically discussed the US (as that was what was being discussed), your second para edit - yes, I can compare, it’s far more widespread the other way round. Inserting Democrat driven in the last para is a waste of time. We know California is a Democratic State. [Post edited 19 Feb 2021 0:34]

| Good bye to Mr and Mr then on 00:25 - Feb 19 by londonlisa2001 | It is currently legal in many States in the US for any business with less than 15 employees to sack someone simply because they are gay. Being legal and being common aren’t the same thing. You are comparing apples with vegemite. One is a mandate which requires every single boardroom to hire based on sexuality or race, the other is a rarity - a bad rarity, granted. But a rarity all the same. Half the country was protected by such discrimination prior to the 6-3 Supreme Court ruling, the other half have now been, apart from in rare circumstances. It wasn’t framed as anything of the sort, that’s your intentional misinterpretation of my post in order to push your narrative (if you remember, you pretended to not understand). It was framed as it was posted, a recent mandate to employ purely based on identity is shocking and wrong. You agree, I’m glad. Whether you care what hats I own is not of my concern. You took the opportunity to attack the fact I hate identity politics to lump me in with what you describe as “MAGA idiots”. You can pretend you didn’t all you like but it’s clear you did. That’s wrong of you but I won’t hold a grudge. But 70+ million people of all races, sexuality, genders and walks of life voted Republican, to lump them in together is grossly lacking understanding of the situation. You won’t enter a debate about taxation with me because you know you have no leg to stand on. Unless of course you claim to know better than the droves of Californians leaving over such things? And of course the facts of the taxes themselves, some of which are the highest in the country and state. You rarely respond because you know you can’t bludgeon me into submission as you do with others and I can call you out every time you try to covertly divert attention from something incredibly incorrect you have written. If you want to do some research about the taxes like you did when you realised there was a Supreme Court decision in June regarding discriminatory sacking then I’m here when you are ready. One minute you claim I see your name and start ranting, the next you claim I rarely respond because it’s you. Make up your mind. You’re moving goalposts again, aren’t you. You started off by asking who could possibly imagine anyone having employment decisions being made on grounds of their sexuality and now it’s been pointed out that it’s happened forever to gay people, you’ve moved to the ‘ah well it’s not often and the fact it doesn’t apply to many companies still now is going to be brushed over’ tack. It’s not every single boardroom btw. It’s public companies only. So large companies who can well afford the cost of an additional part time role. The actual reason I can’t usually be bothered to converse with you for any length of time is that you always resort to the whole nonsense of your last paragraph. If it makes you feel better to pretend that I only now know that there was a Supreme Court case on Title VII last year (despite the enormous amount of coverage during and after) or that I don’t know anything about taxation in the US then great. It’s just genuinely tedious though to be honest. Particularly given you quite obviously know absolutely sod all about most of it anyway. [Post edited 19 Feb 2021 12:52]

It’s all part of Dr. P’s debating technique. The next part will be holding you accountable for things you haven't said as proof of your opinions. This will take quite a long time as there will be a myriad of things you haven’t written on an Internet forum. Eventually you’ll get bored and stop engaging and Dr. P will either pronounce himself the winner or tell you you’re beyond help.

Oh I’m bored already. It’s why I can’t be bothered conversing with him. I only did in this case as his post was so ridiculous. There wasn’t a part of it that wasn’t just wrong. Anyway, I will leave him to it on this topic as you’re right, it just carries on forever and he will declare himself the winner, so may as well do so now,

I claim them both, why do they have to be independent? You usually see my posts dying to respond but instead use someone else’s post and make a post that responds to mine. You have always done it. On the rare occasion however that you feel particularly brave, you will respond directly to me. Usually when you feel particularly strongly about some sort of social justice thing that you are currently on the wagon of. So the forum got lucky with this one. No I’m not moving any goalposts. Again, it has not “happened forever to gay people”, it’s utterly nonsense. What you mean is it’s happened to some gay people. A tiny minority. Comparing that to a mandate that covers every public company boardroom in the State in every industry is not even close to being the same thing. But you used it to further a pretty tired and outdated social justice message, because at the time you had no idea of the Supreme Court ruling, did you. Whether “they can afford it” is meaningless. If they can afford another board member and needed one then they would employ one. You are forcing companies to take minorities and pay them a salary into a position they don’t need, and possibly aren’t even qualified for should the applications be so poor. They are forced to employ someone. It’s ludicrous no matter how much you try and deflect or defend it. You have jumped in with very little knowledge and a fire in your belly for your latest quest. While admirable on the surface it’s old hat and very tiresome. You won’t get an inch from me, but I’m sure you know that. So after all that we agree California taxes are very high, leading to a mass exodus of people, many of which taking their jobs with them... and employing based off identify is abhorrent. You could have just agreed you know.

There is not a single part of my post that was wrong. You have thrown your toys out of the pram because I called you out for feigning to not understand the point I was making to further one of your causes. My post clearly stated that the woke ideology that is purported by the likes of you (ad nauseam) is sweeping the world to such an extent that their is now a mandate in place for companies to hire minorities including sexuality. I then went on to say California is becoming one of the most unlovable places in America and it’s no wonder people are leaving in droves. While you like to dance around the points being made and then pretend the post was wrong and you are “only responding because of how ridiculous it is” (you use that line a lot when you have lost a debate). The facts remain, and for anyone who would like to read up on said facts.... The mandate:- https://corpgov.law.harvard.ed The exodus:- https://www.google.com.au/amp/ The unliveable city:- https://www.google.com.au/amp/ And there is no winner, just right and wrong. And I’m absolutely right.. [Post edited 19 Feb 2021 15:06]

There is no technique other than calling bull when I see it and making complete common sense. I don’t hold anyone accountable for what they don’t say. I add context that if comments are only made about one side yet the same scenario happens on both, then what you do say probably comes with a dollop of bias. Common sense no? For example. 12 months of Democrat rioting discussed on threads with yourself involved in, complete silence. One Republican riot and it’s the world is falling in, as if the previous 12 months never happened. It’s a pattern; not an anomaly. Sorry if that has upset you, it’s just the reality of the situation. But happy for you to pretend otherwise. [Post edited 19 Feb 2021 15:04]

Fair play. You are ,to me,a classic example of what I call a great poster. Great posters aren't those who post to impress their chums or to seek friends by posting prosaic piffle;they are the ones that stimulate debate, even if it gets too personal and feisty. Ive no idea if you are right or wrong but you're a good read and sem to have an independent mindset which is precious these days of vaccuous virtue signalling.

| Good bye to Mr and Mr then on 15:33 - Feb 18 by londonlisa2001 | You said, and I quote: “ Could you imagine a day where we would be getting or denied jobs not on ability but on who we are attracted to? |
” A bunch of people saying they hate identity politics while all wearing their little matching hats - it’s hilarious.” Antisemitism!

Nope, I add context where there is intentionally none, Your posts have always needed them as you claimed to be impartial yet the written word never seemed so. If you talk about a subject long enough, then what you don’t say often becomes more telling than what you do say. So you can pretend I’m making assumptions based on a whole load of subjects based on what you don’t say - but that’s a smoke screen and a falsification. It was a very specific subject, a subject you have been talking about for a year with daily rioting yet only managed to state your distain a year later when “the other side” acted that way. You did the same regarding Fox News suggesting the Biden marriage wasn’t real, yet stayed silent when CNN were stating the same about Trump and his wife. You may think you are impartial but you aren’t. I understand you didn’t like the fact I pointed it out but I’m afraid I see right through that sort of behaviour and will call it out every time.
