| Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea City : Matchday Thread AFTER SHOW PARTY 17:00 - Apr 11 with 10129 views | NotLoyal | This game is another game in the EFL Championship, it could a game that Swansea have in hand, but for a game of football that’s silly and makes it rugby. If Swansea perform as they did on Saturday, then if Sheffield Wednesday play the same as Millwall, then the swans will win 3-0. EFL Championship Tuesday April 13th 2021 Kick off 6pm Hillsborough, Sheffield Match Officials JEREMY SIMPSON Jonathan Hunt and Wade Smith Fourth Official : Stephen Martin Watch the game on iFollow and Swans TV Remember the home game at the Liberty, that was the game referee Andy Woolmer was accused by Steve Cooper of having personal grudges towards him. Cooper was fined, but nothing came about as a result of Cooper’s remarks. Tango man, yup, the banned fat bloke Paul Gregory, aka Tango, was banned for two years from Hillsborough after insulting female stewards. That was in September 2019. As it’s now 2021 and hardly any supporters since then have seen a game his ban will be very short. Lucky fat bastard. Sheffield Wednesday record v Swansea City Games won: 13 Games drawn: 13 Games lost: 8 Sacked by both clubs Garry’s Monk, pointing at his shirt and being all loyal, hard luck that’s me pal Mr Monk was manager at Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday before he was sacked. He has also been sacked by Middlesbrough and other clubs like Birmingham City. Oh, and Leeds. There may have been others. He is currently somewhere else, probably spending all the pay off money he hasn’t earned. We don’t really know as his Mrs, who for some reason tweets about football ( well, it pays her bills ) hasn’t been arguing with other women in the world she travels in called “I’m special because I married a footballer” If anyone finds this annoying, then put a letter through Monks letter box, I did and I rang the door bell. He was home, I had been watching him for three days. It could have been a bit longer but I ran out of my meds after two days, and my toes hurt from the whispering. Injury and latest news Sheffield Wednesday will be without Massimo Luongo for the rest of the season after a fresh update on his injury situation emerged ahead of tonight’s Championship outing. The Owls have been putting in the final touches ahead of their clash with promotion-chasing Swansea City this evening and the injury situation at Hillsborough Stadium is still pretty bleak. It has now been revealed that the Australian midfielder will not return for their final six league games. Ben Cabango has been sent away from the squad on joining up with them yesterday afternoon he breached Covid guidelines on the weekend- putting the whole team at risk. BBC Reported Ben Cabango has been sent home by Swansea City after breaching the club's Covid-19 protocolsThe 20-year-old Wales defender has been barred from training and will not be available for Tuesday's Championship trip to Sheffield Wednesday. South Wales Police "responded to a report of a disturbance" in Swansea at around 23:00 BST on Saturday. "Upon arrival a number of individuals were spoken to and stop-searched by officers," added the force. "No offences were identified and no further action was taken." In a statement, Swansea City said: "The club is aware of an incident involving a first-team player that occurred over the weekend. "The player in question has been sent home from the training bubble and as a result will not feature in Tuesday's game against Sheffield Wednesday. "We work closely with Public Health Wales and have a strict set of Covid-19 protocols within the club and we have made these abundantly clear to all players and staff. It is disappointing that these protocols have been breached, and as a club we expect all personnel to adhere to such guidelines in a manner that is indicative of the huge sacrifices made by so many."The club will now conclude the matter internally." Latest two hours before Kick Off Chey Dunkley is expected to miss out due to a hamstring issue although Joost van Aken and midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru have returned to full training. Defender Moses Odubajo, midfielder Massimo Luongo, centre-back Dominic Iorfa and goalkeeper Cameron Dawson will all miss out. For the visitors, striker Liam Cullen closing in on a return to action following almost three months out with an ankle injury. Goalkeeper Steven Benda is expected to play for the Under-23s this week as he steps up his recovery from an ankle issue. Paul Arriola, Jordan Morris and Tivonge Rushesha are all out for the season. Sheffield Wednesday: Keiren Westwood, Liam Palmer, Sam Hutchinson, Joey Pelupessy, Barry Bannan (captain), Adam Reach, Julian Borner, Tom Lees, Josh Windass, Jordan Rhodes, Liam Shaw. Substitutes: Joe Wildsmith, Callum Paterson, Kadeem Harris, Matt Penney, Andre Green, Osaze Urhoghide, Alex Hunt, Izzy Brown, Elias Kachunga. Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Kyle Naughton, Ryan Bennett, Marc Guehi, Ryan Manning; Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (captain), Conor Hourihane; Wayne Routledge, Andre Ayew, Jamal Lowe. Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Connor Roberts, Jake Bidwell, Kieron Freeman, Joel Latibeaudiere, Korey Smith, Yan Dhanda, Ollie Cooper, Morgan Whittaker. Routledge is the difference again - as Swansea City win away again ! 13th Apr 2021 20:55It was another very decent display by the swans with Wayne Routledge once again starring for the second away game in a row. The swans took all three points at Hillsborough, and will maintain all is not lost in the chase for second place. It wasn’t pretty, in fact again it was quite frustrating, but overall any win away from home at this stage of the season is most welcome. On seventy five points now, the play offs regardless of the maths is almost certainly guaranteed. 0 Nothing Darren Moore to follow.

These are the same players you have personally claimed to have been run into the ground. It’s funny that now they aren’t showing any fatigue towards the end of the season those that have been screaming it are now saying “this is what we have been calling for”. Absolutely nothing of the sort. Half the players on that pitch would be sat on the bench if the screaming mob were listened to and thank goodness they weren’t. The only real different thing he has done is decided to see what Routledge can do. The 4 at the back formation is what he has played since he got here, it must be 50:50 between that and a back 5, or at least close to. This new found attitude is simply confidence. There are plenty of occasions we have scored and not sat back this season, each game requires different strategies and each game is different. This season 3 at the back has been doing most of the damage. But have dabbled in 4 at the back. Well done Coops and the players, about time people started to back track and show some respect. You speak far too much sense for the unthinking to grasp. You've hit the nail firmly on the head of the twpest pretender. For some, only knee jerk negativity works, in some twp attempt to appear all-seeing, in the vain hope the sheeple follow their fetid scent. Which some twps do, and the cycle continues. Without the sheeple, the pretenders would fade into the nothingness they are. Conspicuous in their absence after another massive win. Well done Coops, the players will be proud of your deserved fist-pumping at the away end tonight.

The international break and a change of formation/mentality. Perfect timing. Thank god Cooper has finally woken up and realised we have very good players at this club who can play attacking football. Carry on like this he's onto a winner. [Post edited 14 Apr 2021 7:39]

You said we were exhausted after the international break and “shot to bits”, you said you were wrong that we would be fresher after the international break and it was far worse than you had initially thought. I can’t keep up with when we are exhausted and when we aren’t, it seems it gets decided upon whether we win or lose. We were less attacking and dominant yesterday than we were in the reverse fixture many months ago - by quite some distance. this “new attitude” nonsense is a myth. It’s just clear the team is far better when we largely play our best players and when we are confident. [Post edited 14 Apr 2021 9:00]

Shot to bits as in confidence. We were exhausted before international break, Roberts still was afterwards according to Cooper. It's not opinions as you say, it is facts, managers of fellow championship clubs are saying it, our own players have said it, now our own manager has finally admitted to it in Roberts case. Difference is not every club at this level has the resources on the playing staff to bring in a 200 apps Premier League player for another player who is regarded probably the best in his position in the Championship. It's not a myth at all, we are a completely different side now, everything we are doing we look on the front foot, keeping the ball, making chances, scoring goals. As I say, thank god Cooper has finally woken up to it and realised, possibly three games too late. But better late than never as they say.

Why is this guy so pathetically disingenuous? Why pick out the reverse fixture when they were under Pulls? Sheff Weds were more than decent last night and played some good stuff. Their philosophy has changed completely since Pulls. Their commentators talked all game about it. And so has Swansea's, it's as clear as day we've adopted a completely different approach and Dimi will say the first thing that comes into his head to disagree. The boy really is a mess.

As I said, we had more chances, more possession and almost twice as many passes in the last meeting many months ago. So it’s a myth. Happy to look at any evidence you have which suggests otherwise though. You definitely said it in relation to fatigue, I made sure I highlighted that exact point to put to you - that was your response.

So it was a change to them that you think was the difference then? It’s awfully odd that whenever these claims get made, there is only evidence of the opposite. You would think that pattern would be the reverse... but no. Nuances I guess.

I originally said we needed the international break to recharge the batteries, the performances against Birmingham and Preston shocked me. We just looked bereft of anything, you was questioning if Cooper could motivate this team anymore and to be honest your questioning looked valid. Something has changed, the change in formation seems to have kick started us again, about time aswell as these players are more than good enough.

Right, so when you say new approach, you mean the old approach? That would make much more sense considering we seemed to do what you are claiming we are doing now, but to a better degree. In the last 2 games we have created less chances, had less possession, less passes attempted, less pass accuracy and more long balls than the reverse fixtures. And I am supposed to believe that these 2 games show we pass more, pass better and are more attacking? I am hoping you can see the obvious skepticism there. Maybe you can’t. If your point is simply we look more like our old self than the period of poor form, then I would agree. But that isn’t how you were branding it. Which I’m sure you know.

Having one more player in attack has helped, playing 3 CBs with 2 wing backs we were always susceptible to being pushed back, it happened in several games and until recently we have got away with it. Having a flat back 4 means we can be solid when we are being attacked plus having the extra player in attack means we can press more and give the opposition less space in the middle which means we have more chance to win the ball back in the middle and attack more, the 4 3 3 means that the team can accommodate hourihane as he can push up more where he can cause problems and atm its working. It is so good to see cooper move to this system but I think its come about now with the return of routledge, his experience means he can play in the front three comfortably and it has obviously showed in the last two games, perhaps cooper doesn't think that whittaker has the tactics nous to do what routledge has done. Hats off to whoever changed it as it has totally changed the mindset of the team, I do hope it is cooper and if it is most of us should eat humble pie as it could give us a real good chance of promotion but we have to look after routledge as he is the key.

Completely agree FB. How anyone can watch these games and say there hasn't been a complete change in approach is beyond me, but I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise either. Looking forward to the analyst guy on getting back to me with player positions last two games compared. Against Preston when we first tried the 433, Ayew was literally as deep as the three midfield players, he was playing in the centre of the attacking 3. He obviously wasn't suited at all to the role, and Cooper has spotted this and as you say Routledge has come in and got us moving forward, an outlet with his runs in behind the defenders. Completely different team.

A complete change from what time period? What seems to be the case is a certain few are pretending we have never played in such a way and is only doing so because they have demanded it. That’s false and quite ridiculous. If you are saying there is a clear upturn in performance from the last few months, then of course there has. But it’s not anything we haven’t seen before as I have shown. There is a concerted effort to take away any credit from Cooper and the management team to a point where this “new approach” myth has been created to pretend that it wasn’t his doing and he was forced to. This approach is not new, we just haven’t seen it for a while. I can show example after example of more passes, higher concentration of short passes, more chances created and more possession. So I am just ensuring the false “new” narrative isn’t going to be pushed without pointing out it’s not new in the slightest, not even the formation is new to Coopers Swansea. It was our preferred formation for large parts of last season.

How refreshing to read a proper analysis of what's changed compared to recent disingenuous attempts to gaslight. You also make a very good point about being in the other teams half a lot more and that one extra attacker is something that has been screaming out, well, since Gibbs White got injured. I don't think there was any dissenting voices when he played because we could all see his quality and that we liked to attack back then. But things changed - amazing that isn't it.... you know, managers change and then their old teams change. Imagine Pullis having 80% pass accuracy?! Crazy. But worse, imagine having the nerve to try and compare that with his successor, who tries to play an expansive, attacking game. Personally I don't think we've ever been a great watch under Cooper and he's very limited in his capabilities in getting his teams to play out from the back, like Potter for example. But the difference in these last 2 games compared to any other since January is immense. There's no point even debating that.

But the difference in these last 2 games compared to any other since January is immense. There's no point even debating that. |

| Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea City : Matchday Thread MATCHDAY LATEST TEAMS on 10:41 - Apr 14 by Dr_Parnassus | A complete change from what time period? |
You aren't ensuring anything, you're just rambling on. Cooper fell into 352 and it worked for him, until we got worked out, and he didn't change until Bowyer came out and told the world what we all knew, we had become stale and predictable. What was the words he used "Swansea never change from 352" There has been a mindset/attitude change and I applaud Cooper for that, not taking away any credit from him apart from saying this should have happened several games earlier, as in fairness, we all stated. Do I think he has changed because the fans have demanded it? Doubtful Has the players demanded it? Possibly Bowyer's comments? Yes I think that has played a big part. [Post edited 14 Apr 2021 12:04]

Dear God. Football is simple game but people need to analyse what they see . It is made complicated . Frankly, we have been crap and looked like riding on a down bound train but now the train has stopped and been rerouted and we re back on the right track . Either way, we are happier and that is it. The very worst of our fan base is fans looking down on other fans seeing them as thick, ignorant, shallow, fickle or plain deluded. All of those can go and screw themselves as far as I am concerned. Bullying can cover much of what is seen on forums of this nature. Many fans ,the majority ,let s not forget ,eschew this and other sites because of the hate posts That could or would aimed at them . It s pretty shaming

Pretty good post that, one I find it hard to disagree with. I find it funny that the infamous “brand new approach”, when put under the slightest of scrutiny has now turned into just an approach that has been different to a period of about 10-12 games (if we take out ones we aren’t allowed to count as they don’t fit the narrative ). Just pure nonsense. Give Cooper and the players the credit they deserve and the credit they have deserved most of this season and last. That simple. As a group they have worked incredibly hard to get where we are. We have played possession, passing football many times over and to a far greater degree than we have seen in the last two games, it didn’t take much looking to see that. It’s nothing new. It’s simply been missing while we have been in this slump. I think we are all relieved we have seemingly turned a corner in our difficult period as we were always likely to, as others have that have faced similar slumps. That’s football.
