Conor Hourihane - Your thoughts ? 21:09 - Apr 13 with 1420 viewsKeithHaynes

I’m struggling with a Hourihane, a remarkable impact at the start of his loan but I’m seriously struggling to see what he is currently offering, seemed to me to be almost anonymous this evening.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

He does ok when we're bossing the game but when the other team have a spell on top he vanishes. He doesn't get tackles in, he doesn't bust a gut like Fulton and Grimes do, he waits for us to regain the ball and pops his head up again.

That makes him a luxury to me. Games are so often won or lost in midfield so you need all those players putting the effort in.

You can't doubt his quality, his skill set but unfortunately hard work and getting a foot in aren't in there.

Your first paragraph sums it up for me. He’s either not fit enough, or doesn’t put enough effort in.

Very frustrating because while he’s doing enough to get by, I want him on the pitch for his dead balls and although we haven’t seen as much of it lately, his shooting from just outside the box.

Pretty much what Trundle was alluding to last night ... wanted to see him put more effort into general play.

Shades of Gylfi Siggurdsson. Was talking to an Everton fan earlier who thinks he steals a living and hides during games. Couldn’t agree more.

Siggy used to bust a gut every game. The last person anyone could accuse of shying away, in our shirt anyway.

Yeah, Siggy used to cover a lot of ground for us, worked very hard. Certainly put a lot more effort in defensively than Hourihane.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It’s quite a shame anyone would mutter the two names in the same breath.

Described by one of our correspondents as a "one trick pony".

Siggy simply the best player to play for us .

Ivor was wonderful but I think for effectiveness for our team at the time,Siggy gets it-just.

We had 42 million for him and replaced with Clucas for 16 who was then old for 8.

THAT is what really should grip our shyte.

We would rather rip into each other than the jerks who allowed that to happen.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Siggy is up there with some of the best to have ever pulled a swans shirt on, Hourihane isn't half the player Siggy was for us (no disrespect to Hourihane).
