Any demos planned for this British woman yet? Might not be the case as she seems "middle class". Have we abandoned this woman or what? I find this outrageous. Espionage activities eh.

You really do have the biggest chip on your shoulder. There have been demonstrations in London about this for years now at various times. Her plight, of course, is not helped by the idiot prime minster that you fervently support who made her position far more difficult by his lazy, unbriefed and uncaring words about her.

Especially her considering she has an Iranian passport and her job history. Hopefully she is released soon without the UK having to concede anything to these animals.

Ah, it’s her fault. Visiting her parents like that. The U.K. has made her case immeasurably worse due to the moron Johnson. When she eventually gets back I hope she takes an action against him for his dreadful intervention.

If my memory serves me correctly, when Johnson was Foreign Secretary he promised that he would get her released. A great success he's made of that then.

He stood up in the House of Commons and stated that she was teaching journalism (or similar). Which caused her enormous difficulty. He did so because he’s lazy, can’t be bothered to understand briefings, even if he reads one, and is nowhere near as bright as he thinks. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Iran have been jailing citizens of other countries for years and are holding them for ransom. Some countries pay the ransom some don't.

There is no we, the foreign office are happy for her to stay in Iran because when / if she gets back the family will be able to spill the beans fully on how our government has acted / not acted. Johnson mistakenly claimed Zaghari-Ratcliffe had been training journalists in Iran - something the Thomson Reuters Foundation and her family have strongly denied. This has been used by the Iranian authorities to help justify the new charges and may have contributed to her lengthened sentence. Patel couldn’t care less, too busy trying to destroy lives and legalising torture while achieving nothing.

She was imprisoned before Johnson "intervened" and has had new, unrelated charges put on her today. It's quite obvious she will stay there until she dies or is severely ill, or the UK government concedes to the Iranian demands. Quite why she thought it was a good idea to travel there honestly baffles me. I hope she is released soon without the UK having to concede anything. We shouldn't negotiate with terrorist nations.

I think her latest jail term is for attending an anti Iranian rally in London 12 years ago. Clearly a trumped up charge. 12 years ago labour were in power.

Yes she is and I hope she returns very soon. I fail to see how that happens without the UK essentially paying ransom much like numerous other countries have done. $400,000,000 is what President Obama paid, in cash, when Iran imprisoned 5 of their citizens. Yes that's right. We don't need to deliver personal insults, manipulate data or straight up lie when we exchange views. I'm surprised Dr_Parnassus is still engaging with Lisa's obvious trolling. "One shot would have been enough" when an attacker had a knife inches from her target's jugular is quite frankly the stupidest sentence anyone has ever posted on this forum and proves Lisa is guilty of trolling on occasion, as whilst her football knowledge is lacking, we know she's not that dumb.

I know I'm not very bright and even I know Bojo made a right mess of this. Incometence is no bar to becoming a politician and we have plenty of evidence. I thought they were on the verge of releasing her. I can't blame her for wanting to see her parents but even so, going to Iran is not the wisest choice for any British citizen/resident, specially not when we have such a huge nugget for PM! Much as I hate him, Tony Blair would have done a better job of getting her out.

Definitely a trumped up charge, what’s happening is obscene. What is the relevance of there being a Labour Government 12 years ago when this alleged demonstration took place in London?
