Jordan Morris and Paul Arriola are well documented, and the chances taken on them on the other side of the Atlantic proved fruitless. They are both now back in the USA. However, and very quietly, one Orlando City loanee in a Barnsley shirt has played nineteen games since his arrival in January, and has scored nine goals. He is what we call a proper ‘danger man’ 0 Just what the swans wanted ! Click above. Click below to subscribe to us on Twitter.

| Barnsley v Swansea City : The USA loan player that is a complete success on 10:46 - May 17 by 34dfgdf54 | Not understanding the situation is when you genuinely believe a club would let their "$20m" asset play for another club during their season, which is now. Fair dos. |
Well a few things, hes undoubtedly one of Orlando's best players though isn't he? Maybe not be worth the 20mill dollars being reported right now, but he's 20&got all the tools, so there's more to come from him probably. It could be that Orlando are looking to cash in, players of that value don't come round too often in MLS and this spell at Barnsley is providing exposure. Barnsley it seems have some link with Orlando so that's probably why he's there in the 1st place & why he's been allowed to stay.

| Barnsley v Swansea City : The USA loan player that is a complete success on 10:45 - May 17 by Chief | Yes, but what i will say is that at championship level (not prem), its entirely possible that Arriola could have contributed. I haven't seen much of him just like the people claiming he's good haven't, so I'm not being hypocritical. But what's being forgotten by some is that had he not joined us, he had about 6 weeks - 2 months of pre-season training (and rehab from a serious injury) ahead of him before the MLS season started. Expecting him to perform in the championship instantly upon his arrival is fantasy. [Post edited 17 May 2021 10:48]

Absolutely, that’s why I made the point of correcting Risca when he said I was of the opinion he would not be a success here. I have no views on whether he would be or not, only that the evidence suggests the contrary. I doubt he would be success here, but it’s entirely possible he would be. We just need some evidence that he would in order to complain about him not playing. Ive not seen any. [Post edited 17 May 2021 11:05]

| Barnsley v Swansea City : The USA loan player that is a complete success on 10:50 - May 17 by Dr_Parnassus | Absolutely, they are asking for that kind regards of money BECAUSE of his success in English football, not as mere happenstance of it. Sending players into a good league, in their off season, to prove they are good enough is perfect business sense for them. They either get short term cash and the player back or short term cash and a cash bonanza. It’s win win. But like most things I don’t expect you understand that. It’s what makes our chats so entertaining I guess, so can’t grumble. [Post edited 17 May 2021 10:50]

Not sure, Pato is up front for Orlando along with Nani I believe. Who knows what he is worth, proof will be in the pudding, very good players have come out of the States and more will follow.

Eh? What has the Barnsley CEO got to do with anything? Again you are not understanding a current valuation and a pre authorised contractual agreement. Comedy gold is very true, but your lack of any sort of depth of thought on any subject usually means you are the butt of that comedy without realising. Quite amazing.

Dike got 8 goals and 3 assists in 17 games and he's aged 19. I know you're being deliberately obtuse but surely we can agree he's an important player for Orlando. His record for Barnsley backs that up. A lot of very poor players have also come out of the states and more will follow.

Very good players have come out of Wales, more will follow too... still wouldn’t be advocating signing Jazz Richards, Johnny Williams or Declan John though regardless of them having caps. You have to think a bit deeper than matching nationalities up and basing a decision on that... if it was as easy as that then Dhanda should be signed by a Premier League club because Steven Gerrard was English too.

Again, rambling along with no substance. Making a fool of yourself. I look at the players we sign, and go from there, the nationality doesn't matter, if they are better than what we have I believe they should play. What you won't get from me is blanket statements like "MLS signings very rarely work in their off season". You and your mate are now going on about Dike, like I've said he's rubbish, I'm assuming he's a very good player, which makes a mockery of your previous comments. Good on Barnsley. Good recruitment.

Again, you have no idea what you are referencing. The Barnsley CEO is not at “the bargaining table”, there is no bargaining. They have an option to buy at a pre agreed price. They now value him at $20m. One has nothing to do with the other.

Got the direct quotes to that $20m valuation? The article isn't available in UK. Chief - Out of curiosity aswell, what are Barnsley's links with the MLS which you mentioned? [Post edited 17 May 2021 12:16]

Rambling on? No substance? Which part specifically? If that is how you judged players then:- 1) Dike has no bearing on anything 2) You cannot say that Arriola should have played more I think it’s abundantly clear you judge players on what narrative you can twist that faux appraisal to suit your ends. If it suits you to say Arriola was bad and shouldn’t have been signed then that’s what it would have been. Currently you want to say he should have played so are staying you think he was good... but it simply cannot be based on how he played for us. If you made more common sense and accurate blanket statements like the one you quoted from me ...then you may just start making a bit of sense.

Orlando City SC are keeping the asking price at $20 million for Daryl Dike as overseas interest continues to grow, according to a report from Julia Poe in the Orlando Sentinel. Dike is on loan at Barnsley through the end of the English Championship season, then is due to return to the Lions for 2021. But his form at Barnsley — he’s scored five times in 11 league matches — has reportedly drawn interest from Premier League sides, with Orlando previously receiving a transfer offer, per MLSsoccer.com’s Tom Bogert. Poe reported that it was a $10 million offer and included a sell-on clause of around 20%.

Their ownership group includes Chien Lee an American businessman as well as Mr Moneyball Billy Beane who's dabbled in MLS teams previously is from Orlando. That and fact that they were able tempt a player like Dike over says to me there's a link there. So nothing concrete but a fair deduction? Only us and Barnsley in this country brought over American to play and what links us? American owners. I very much doubt any of the 3 players were the result of a random scouting trip. Pretty clear to me there's a relationship there.

Wrong. Again. 1) No bearing on us no, it just shows up your comment of MLS signings don't work in their off season. Barnsley have done it well. Good on them. 2) I can, because that is my opinion. I claimed at the time the lack of rotation would cost us in long run. I believe looking at the table from 30 games gone, to now, backs that up. Accurate blanket statements which have now been blown out of the water by Barnsley.

Dane Murphy by the looks, American CEO. Dike was on a three-man shortlist compiled by Barnsley’s American chief executive, Dane Murphy. “[He] sent me Dike clips and I recognised straight away that it’s a player for us,” says Ismaël. “They told me it could be a tight situation with him because the transfer window closed on the Monday and on the Sunday he played for the [United States] national team. He needed to play to get the [work permit] points to have the possibility to come to England. We took a big risk but the feeling was that Dike was the right player for us.”

Aye there we are then, wasn't aware of this additional link. Looks like there's been a bit of wider collusion in light of him getting the extra international cap just before moving.

this articles might help explain the links with BArnsley and the MLS https://eu.oklahoman.com/story https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/n Now today is the first of 2 games which could lead us to one more game to a potential return to the PL. How about we all focus on that rather than hyperbole about who we could have signed, did sign but for several reasons didnt work out. Agree to disagree about our Managers abilities forget finding the slightest tentative argument to discredit him until the this "mini tournament" is over. I get the blame deflection thing but think about it everytime you point a finger at someone there are three pointing back at yourself...maybe that is another lesson Cooper needs to learn re his PR. But for now lets all be united and get behind the team COYS!!!!

Its a great relationship to have. Consider a top young layer from Peru for example going to DC via their scouting system. The owners could develop him at DC for a season or two let him get a few caps, then send him on to Swansea on loan with an option to buy deal of £5m + percentage. Like Dike he could prosper seeing his Championsil valuation rocket to £20m. Swansea and DC very happy. Swansea were linked with the young fellow from Southend with a US passport. He has not kicked on at QPR like Dike but you should be able to follow my drift. Synergies are a win win. Sages on this board are against these things. Europe is more difficult now in Brexit Britain. Viva Argentina.

What has the Barnsley CEO got to do with it? He’s an Orlando player. We are back here again. If you don’t understand something it’s easier if you just ask rather than keep making the same mistake over and over. The valuation they have put on him and the pre contract option to buy figure is not the same thing. As you were.

| Barnsley v Swansea City : The USA loan player that is a complete success on 15:12 - May 17 by Dr_Parnassus | I remember when we valued Joe Allen at £15m and got £15m too. You are again making the mistake of using a completely separate player and assuming everything is based off that. Like Dike being good so Arriola must have been... They have already rejected a $10m offer for him so seems perfectly plausible they will get close to what they want now the Premier League teams are circling. What I would do if I were Barnsley is take out a loan to buy the player for whatever they have agreed if they need to, then sell him on. But whether he goes for $20m, $15m, $10m, $5m is irrelevant. We can’t afford him. |
https://www.barnsleychronicle. Great bit of business if he's telling the truth. Very odd to agree to a fee that low when they've rejected bids of $10m according to you? Anyway, lets hope he doesn't bolster his fee next two games.
