Those fellas need an absolute hiding and then chucked in solitary confinement for the rest of their days

But there are around 21,000 far fewer officers since 2010. That’s not going to help

It isn't though. It's been tried. It didn't lead to a drop in violent crime. It was often abused by the police and led to more trouble than it was supposed to prevent

Statistics show that crime is rising across the board in Khan’s London...so, no.

Not just London, other cities too. London is the most populated by far.

So the answer is to sit on your hands and hope it goes away. or do you have another solution to the rising knife (some as large as swords) issue.

Don't repeat something that doesn't work. The answer is more police and a better judiciary.but we have a Conservative govt that has cut both to the bone

Well, contro no doubt believes masks are no deterrent to covid and the vax is a sham. We are so utterly screwed.

Some on here would argue that Khan is doing a good job as mayor of London, and that the murder rate has actually decreased. BTW, I don't agree with that, in fact I think he's a slimy piece of work.

Anyone believing the stats is being naive. Only if you are at the sharpest of ends can one know what is going on. Im very close to one who is and ,folks,it aint pretty but stay safe as those who are slagged off by contro and angry and others will be out there while you are in the land of nod, oblivous to it all. You are 200 mile away in Swansea .Another world. Be grateful

I have worn a mask throughout and believe they are highly effective. I had had both AZ jabs with no ill effects whatsoever, however I don't believe they are as effective as we are being told, especially against the Delta variant. It's why we should still be cautious
| Hyde Park Yesterday on 00:34 - Jun 5 with 767 views | majorraglan | The police are in a difficult position. Stop and Search can be effective and useful tool, but equally it can result in large numbers of innocent people being searched. We’ve seen lots of articles in the press where innocent, law abiding black people have been searched and the suggestion is it’s simply on account of the colour of their skin. If they carry out a search and get it wrong they risk being called a racist, a complaint, potential disciplinary action etc. Imagine being a cop working in a multicultural Borough in the Met , high crime, violence and then having to search people, potentially no support from bosses, the police service, government etc and everyone wanting to litigate, make complaints, sue and want to you to lose your job! Not a great fan of Khan, but this can’t all be laid squarely at his door because a lot of this has been years in making. | | | |

Violent crime rose from 2011, under the previous mayor, and under the Home Secretary of the time who oversaw significant budget cuts which affected the kind of community policing that had worked to flatten and then reduce crime under the Major, Blair and Brown Governments. London was a violent place in the 80s and early 90s which seems to have been forgotten. Not by me as I lived there for five years. Plenty of organised gang violence then, though fewer street gangs which are the problem today. It’s been brewing up for a decade and whilst Khan has been too reactive and indecisive, the problems are as much the making of Johnson as mayor until 2016 and the Cameron government and Theresa May as Home Secretary. Roundly booed by the Police Federation I recall. Will take a long time to put right again.

You are right with regards to Theresa May. I seem to recall the Police Federation had a “Cuts Have Consequences” slogan/campaign to highlight the impact the cuts were and would have on policing, Theresa May replied that they were “crying wolf” and scaremongering. I think they were right! She oversaw a raft of changes a number of which are slowly being undone by the current government. [Post edited 5 Jun 2021 8:47]

Theresa May is perhaps the single most useless individual to ever hold high office in the UK in my lifetime.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Boris didn't have a clue either, he had no idea of the underlying causes. Some on here have very short memories and don't learn from past mistakes
