I read that so had a look and what I've seen is that vaccines can RARELY cause GBS but so can recent surgery, maybe I shouldn't have had my hip replacement then, after all do I want to take the risk of GBS? That should remove thousands of people from the Welsh NHS waiting lists. Well if they are all as potty as some of the posters on here anyway!
On the other hand, having had both vaccines AND recent surgery maybe I should wait and see if I develop GBS? How long should I wait? Well it'll be 4 weeks this Thursday, is that long enough?

Yes I did read it.
I simply said that loads of countries require compulsory vaccinations for children. I didn’t give my view. I will though if you want.
Ethically, the dilemma is between the rights of the individual, as outlined in the UNESCO document and the rights of society at large.
There is no question in my mind that where the health of another is not affected, an individual should have the absolute right to refuse medical treatment, intervention etc whether treatment or preventative. Or to choose which of two or more medical interventions or treatments they prefer.
However, that right should not take precedence over the health of society as a whole if treatment is required to illness or death in others.
If the judgment of the experts is that the vaccines are safe in children and that the benefits outweigh the risks to them as individuals (the benefits would then automatically outweigh the risks for society) then those vaccines being mandatory is, in my view, fine if the uptake was not high enough. I’d rather it was made available in the first instance in the hope that most parents aren’t dribbling idiots, but if it proved necessary then it being compulsory for school attendance (I don’t think they’d make it mandatory beyond that) that’s ok. Where have I called for that? because I am quite happy they are ending-no bother for me as I can get back to doing my job properly. I have asthma but not severe enough and well managed enough not to worry. Just concerned with the haste that there is a risk for a large unvaccinated population and the complete abandonment of any restrictions being an ideal scenario with a partially vaccinated population to develop vaccine evasion. I have no problem whatsoever in children in my family having the vaccine once it’s been recommended as safe and effective. Same as every other vaccine.
People are being incredibly cavalier at the thought of their kids catching Covid given we don’t know the long term effects in the young and the effects of long Covid.
