Any thoughts on them today with the season closing in ? Finances, ability to run the club, investment record etc ?

They are also the majority shareholders of the group and they certainly represent it. |
Sorry it simply does not stack up. Levien and Kaplan are the main people and representing themselves and bringing with them apparently 30 or so investors along with them that trust their judgement. They are not there simply to give a good impression. While Levien is both eloquent and convincing, Kaplan is less media savvy and stays in the background. They are not a manufactured "front". What you see is what it is. These are the main people. They were gracious enough to come and meet the fans in person and answer questions.

They represent the group and are therefore the front men. To them we are little more than a business investment. It’s not difficult.

I do not agree with you again. It is more than an investment to them. There are many other things they can be invested in that would make them much more money. Covid gave opportunities to make big bucks in certain businesses. In fact on this one they have lost money. As long as the business does not haemorrhage cash there is no problem. They see Swansea city as a management challenge. If I owned DC United i would watch their games for sure. I do anyway when they are on Freesports TV. Levien loves "soccer". He loved being the owner that humble Liverpool at Anfield. He is a football man. He did not come to Swansea to asset strip. You use the word "we" but he fans own body apparently wants to leave football and do something else. No one seems to know what exactly. The Welsh fans want to cash in, the American owners will press on. I' m backing the Yankees.

Hypothetically speaking, if one of us won 150 million on the euro would we put money into any football, I certainly wouldn't, you'd be back to scratching your arse trying to make a living again within 18 months I reckon, be like chucking your winning's into a fire I don't think we have anyone in or around Swansea, who could back the Swans financially with any sustainability and I very doubt they'd want to if we did have anyone with that kind of wealth.

Point taken but either way Kaplan and Levein fronted it.

Nothing wrong with chucking £149m into a (metaphorical) fire and living off a measly £1m. You can't take it with you. It might even last 5 years at Championship level, provided you don't "show ambition".

It can be more than aninvestment but they are still the front men for a group of investors. Nobody else in the group steps forward and speaks, they let the two "front men" do it. Again you bring covid into it, why? They bought the club before covid happened, covid has no bearing on them buying the club though it's undoubtedly made selling us harder for them. You claim they see the club as a challenge but in reality did they see an opportunity? What they thought was an opportunity anyway, to buy a Premier league club. As I said before, in my opinion these savvy Americans were sold a dud. Now the trust, we all know what you think of the trust but do they want to leave football? Can they leave football because if they are not the SCFC trust, what are they? Any money they may (or may not) make from the court case cannot be spent unless on the club, or is that wrong? It's the impression I got. So whatever funds they have cannot be disbursed to members or committee people, cannot just be spent on anything. And here is where I need somebody who knows for sure. To be honest though, you perpetually try to muddy the waters with irrelevance (like Covid) and you constantly deride the trust whilst defending the previous owners. You have your agenda and you never waste a chance to post about it. Face it, you have as much of an idea of whats happening as the rest of us. We see the news, things Keith puts on here and tht's what we know. What the owners are planning or thinking is a mystery to all of us. You can invent clauses all you like too, you don't know what is in the contracts.

Norwich city showed the way. They will have to pay the fans back in 2023. The £5m investied in the academy The club will need to find £7-8m in interest to the fans. Selling Max Arrons will cover that very easily or the blonde lad who's name escapes me. https://www.sports.legal/2018/

The things we put on here are a risk as well, especially with the twitter warriors. It’s a huge risk to your own integrity at times. We do have some very good contacts otherwise we couldn’t have guessed Hourihane or Piroe, impossible. Or indeed the loan signing coming in over the coming few days. You can’t make that stuff up. Guessing and debate are healthy on the forum though, everyone has an opinion and that’s great, especially when everyone tries to get along and accept differing viewpoints.

Its not the Trust money, to use willy nilly. its the members money, some seem to think its, the trust's boards money its laughable, if they sold their shares for a 1 mill or 100 mill it wouldn't be the boards money, these people are life long Swans fans same as its members, they aren't gonna walk away from the club, whatever the outcome or whatever the sellers mates or the sellers themselves think. Its a laughable suggestion. [Post edited 16 Jul 2021 23:40]

When have they ever been seen to look to sell? When asked, in 2019, if the Americans were looking for buyers Pearlman stated and Birch agreed there was no intention to sell but if offers came in they would be looked at as would happen in any business. I really think has annoyed the hell out of some fans that they haven't skimmed millions and have kept their word that they would be keeping their shares long term. Yes, they could sell tomorrow but don’t hold your breath and don’t expect any new share holders to hand over £millions to the club.

| Where do you stand regards the American majority owners ? on 10:00 - Jul 17 with 616 views | Dr_Winston | The thing is as investments go we're still a decent bet in the long run, largely due to the work done since relegation. A stable, debt free club with significant assets, control over revenue generated by its home and lying just one good season away from the riches of the Premier League. As long as we're breaking even and not losing money on a regular basis they probably will be quite happy to retain control. Compare and contrast to some of the slow motion car crashes taking place elsewhere in the Championship and we begin to look like where the smart money goes. | |

You've gotten the wrong end of the stick there. When talking about selling I was referring to the trust. I have never said the Americans want to sell. I did ask what if some of the investment group decided to sell? Whatever Kaplan or Levein decide to do, it will be influenced by the people in that group, it has to be. If the other investors wanted to sell, Kaplan and Levein, maybe Silverstein might decide to buy them out. One more thing, I'm not one of those fans who accuses the owners of "skimming off" and I have said several times I think the owners have done Ok, made us financially stable, though there have obviously been mistakes.

This ! It isn't a hedge fund. It is a group of investors. It is how it is done in American sport. There are some out there that peddle the Hedge fund bit because it makes the ownership model look worse than it really is. I may be wrong but weren't the Trust one of the first to call it a hedge fund perhaps to help their cause. I'm hearing rumblings that there is something amiss at Trust HQ

There is no real difference between a hedge fund and any other type of private equity investment. It tends to be a distinction of risk and liquidity of asset. So quite why you claim anyone’s ‘cause’ would be aided by calling it a hedge fund is a mystery. Glad to see there is yet another thread with the same half truths and lies being peddled.

The thread started mentioning matters covered by the legal case on page one. Over 24 hours ago. By the same anonymous posters. It’s not possible for there to be a frank and comprehensive assessment of ownership without mentioning the elephant in the room. So to allow anonymous posters yet another go is deeply unfair.
