And his wife supports the oppressed by giving them low paid jobs in her native country. Why our government hasn't done something to speed up the HGV testing process is beyond me. There are apparently thousands of people waiting.

We’ve made our choice and now we need to give a go. What would be good is if we had a competent PM and Government. There are appear to be a few capable ministers but some appear to be totally inept and there’s an air of sleaze! [Post edited 11 Aug 2021 23:18]

Driver shortage of 150,000 reported in tye EU with France, Sweden and Denmark badly affected. Is it because of Brexit, Johnson or perhaps the worldwide pandemic?

You do have a voice at least every 5 years. Wales voted to keep Labour on power for another 5 years. The UK voted Conservative for another 5 years. Everyone in the UK has a voice that is heard and Everyone can vote. Just remember you had no voice or vote on any of the unelected Commissioners who run the EU. Do you think that was democratic?

Nor do we have a voice with the myriad of quangos that have been created and stuffed with the chums of the political establishment or with the House of Lords. The EU wasn’t perfect and neither is our system of government and to pretend otherwise is madness. What we need is good governance, transparency and accountability, we don’t have that in this country and neither did the EU. [Post edited 12 Aug 2021 8:27]

What a load of rubbish. Wales has had huge extra funding throughout the pandemic billions of extra money from the UK government in furlough payments, billions of extra NHS payments, business rates relief, plus many more. Total so far for Wales £8.6 billion . Wales had lost £373 in structural funding which I seriously doubt it would have received from the EU during the pandemic anyway. The UK has spend huge funds throughout the UK Even most bigoted fool knows that. Try doing some basic research otherwise you really do look like an idiot.

That lack of accountability in both the EU and Westminster had a bit to do with my vote to leave. How many undemocratic, corrupt, negligent governments do we want running us? Isn't one enough? Where once we used to have one lot of politicians, after devolution we had THREE. We had MEP's, MP's and AM's/MS's and it was costing us a fortune but what improvements did we see. We still have two governments but why do we need so many Welsh MP's now? We could vastly reduce their number to save money. At the same time the Senedd is talking about increasing their number but recently they told us they were broke! They pushed through votes for kids seemingly against public opinion. Accountability, do the politicians have ANY?

To equate the additional spending made as a result of the pandemic with the funding provided by the EU on infrastructure and other projects in Wales is completely deceiving and wrong. Excluding Covid, Wales is much worse off. The latest cost estimate for Boris’s aspirational policy (and its a very worthy and important policy in my opinion) to level up the UK and reduce the North South divide is almost £2tn - about the same as what it host the Germans to get the former East Germany up to the level of the rest of the country. The Treasury is baulking at the costs. Closing the North South Divide is important as there are big variations in quality of life, opportunity health and life expectancy.

To assume Wales may have got the same UK taxpayers money paid to the EU and then returned is deceitful. Nobody knows what would have happened it is all guess work. Just remember Wales gets £9 billion subsidy a year from the UK government under the Barnett formula far more than a couple of hundred million from the EU. To spin it any other way is nonsense What would Wales prefer £9 billion every year or 250 million a year not guaranteed?

If you add in deaths saved in Scotland, Wales and Ni that is 110,000 to 115,000 lives saved thanks to the UK government decision to leave the EU vaccine procurement process. Well done Boris.
