Waiting times at A&E have been too long for years now. They have consistently failed to meet targets even when the Senedd relaxed the rules.
It's not the hospitals fault. What did we expect when, faced with a growing population they kept cutting beds and closing A&E's down.
If you have a heart attack in Mumbles the travelling time alone to Morriston could mean your too late. Singleton should have an A&E, a place the size of Swansea should have 2 A&E's | |

I know someone who was in A & E yesterday, the delays and queues are down to Covid. Its chaos.
For non Covid alot of the consultants dont work weekends. If you are seriously ill I suggest making sure the illness happens Monday to Friday. 9 to 5 would be perfect. [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 19:26]

Lose weight, dont drink excessive alcohol, dont smoke, walk an hour for at least 5 days a week, dont eat cake or biscuits more than once a week, avoid stress in work and life.

I’d imagine 99.7 % of people would do fine without the jabs.
I’m a great believer in people doing what they want to do, smoke, drink alcohol, take drugs, eat junk food, etc, but the reality is now that the NHS won’t be there like it has been in the past.

The frontline of the NHS is currently under huge pressure. Society is open, people are carrying on as normal and transmission levels are high and the hospitals are starting to fill up with Covid patients. As the number of Covid patients increases, they need more Covid wards which in turn means less beds for non Covid patients.
If the hospitals can’t discharge in patients on account of a lack of care packages, no spaces in care homes or the care homes won’t accept patients out of fear they may bring Covid in to the home then it becomes a toxic mix. Throw in a combination of staff shortages on account of staff having Covid or having to SI following exposure to Covid, then it really starts to become a difficult situation.
Morale amongst a lot of front line NHS staff is very low and some staff are burnt out. The last 18 months have been very difficult for medical staff who’ve had enough, some are along with their feet.
Primary care GP services aren’t seeing patients like they were before pandemic which means even more pressure on A and E. A lot of GP practices are businesses and run independently of the NHS which means Health Boards have limited influence over GP services. [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 22:02]

Sadly the vaccines do not appear to be preventing large scale transmission, but three quarters of the people in hospital with Covid are from the 10% of society that has not been vaccinated.
The 25% who have been vaccinated and are now hospitalised include the old, the vulnerable and people with underlying health conditions including cancer etc.
75% of the patients coming from 10% of society should tell us something. | | | |
