The UK doesn't need the Monarchy. It's an outdated concept and there is plenty of land owned by the Monarchy for them to retire to. The land owned by the country can be put to good use.

Those assetts are out of bounds to the public anyway, as long as the Monarchy has them. There has to be something better we can do.
Besides, we can still use the palaces as tourist attractions, still doall the pompand ceremony that the tourists enjoy, we'd just save all the money we give to the Royalty from the Civil list.

I'll put aside that tourism may never be the same again to point out that in countries where they used to have Rpyalty they still have tourism generated by the now defunct Royalty. That's why I said we can still do the pomp and circumstance, still have the changing of the guard at the Tower of London, still do the Queens birthday ceremony but obviously once the Queen is gone, no ore Royalty there, it just becomes an annual thing. People will still come to watch it.
However we would lose the expense of the civil list, the security, the travelling, the hangers on. People would still want to see inside Buckingham Palace, still go to the Tower. | |

France gets far more tourism than the UK. Whilst London edges Paris for visitors, France has a whole has about 30 million more visitors than the UK.
It's either get rid, or a much smaller Royal Family (like the Netherlands). If we killed the royal family and placed their dead bodies in glass cases on display, I'm sure this would bring in much more tourism from around the world than they do alive. We could transport them around the UK to give different cities a chance to get some tourist dollars in.
