Very common, we won't get the full amount for him. Its going to be a six figure I would say.

It's very common to receive compensation for a manager that's left the club? Really?

Yes, unless he was sacked of course.

| Hughton has gone on 15:12 - Sep 16 by Dr_Parnassus | So in your opinion it is nonsense and happy to say so. But me pointing out it sounds like nonsense is argumentative? Makes sense to you I guess. I said it’s nonsense to get compensation for manager that has left. That’s a fact, it needs no confirmation. If it’s true then Cooper never left and still under contract. I haven’t said it’s nonsense, that would be nonsense, but I may agree with you, ergo I may not. Quite simple really and not at all argumentative. | |

But what would we be being compensated for!?

For his remaining 12 months of his contract. He wanted out, we refused to pay him but the club didn't want a manager here who didn't want to be here... Both parties sit down and thrash out a deal so the departure is mutual consent. I am guessing the club are still paying Cooper a percentage of his fee and likely didn't pay anything up front. Cooper wanted out, he showed is hand first but there was no way the club were paying him up and no way Cooper was walking away with nothing. Even if Cooper walked with nothing, he takes a job up within the remaining 12 months of his contract... COMPENSATION. As the club are likely still paying him a percentage of his wage until his contract runs out, he takes another job... COMPENSATION. If we had sacked Cooper then we would have had to pay his contract up and because we sacked him, Cooper would be free to join another club with no compensation paid. Its a messy affair but if he takes another job within his timescale of his remaining contract, COMPENSATION will be coming the clubs way. Don't rule out the fee being a few 100 grand or so, club will want a swift end to it all.

I don't think it was any deal thrashing. Just an agreement that his contract remain in place but is on 'gardening leave'. Cooper continues to get paid and the club could potentially still get compensation. Perfect situation really, especially if Cooper fancied a season's break after the stresses of two play off seasons.

Once he said he wanted out then the outcome that followed was really the only option for both parties. One was never going to walk with nothing and the other was never going to pay the full amount...so probably no thrashing as the outcome was inevitable. No way would Cooper want a seasons break, he needs to jump on the next wave ASAP but he needs to pick wisely as the next job will define what direction he goes in his career.

I would be extremely tempted to take a seasons break fully paid. Assess options, do what he hasn't been able to do on the weekend for the last few years and have far more options at the end of it as clubs wont need to pay us any compensation. There will be far more jobs available at the end of this season. If I was advising him I would tell him to sit on the cash for now, enjoy himself and his family.

Even if Cooper walked with nothing, he takes a job up within the remaining 12 months of his contract... COMPENSATION. Can't see how or why we'd receive compensation under that circumstance. But I can see the mutual scenario you described being plausible. Technically then, we could refuse Forest permission to speak to him!

If someone has their contract paid up and then takes another job in the period they been paid for. The original employer can claim the wages they paid back from the employee. The new employer may agree to pay that on their behalf.

Added to the £2.1 million cut of the Dan James transfer to Leeds, means £3.2 million extra in

Where will the dosh go though. We have made good money and seen it disappear and basically not ask questions. Cooper will finish off Forest. I d be fearful if I wear Forest fan. Add in the ugly factor too. He ain’t a pretty site in any way.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on, this job is arguably the cross road in his career that ultimately decides what direction he goes.

We've already spent it. But I think it will give us more scope to get more in in January. We still need a LWB at least. As for this windfall. I think the CEO needs a pat on the back. Personally, even though I don't know much about what his job entails. It seems like WInter is doing a good job. With Allen at SD, Scott heading recruitment and our new, young management team, I think our backroom staff are very well equipped. The playing squad is the best we've had for a while all in all. We are on a good level right now. Slowly moving forward. STID!

I'm guessing he will try and sign a load of his players on loan again. It will be very interesting to see how he does there. I wonder i he will say the same things he used to say every week in our press conferences. I wonder if he'll try and sign the same players. I wonder if he will play in the same way, or adjust for a different club and players. I wonder if he is actually any good.

He needs time, pointless writing him off. …4 transfer windows before you can judge.

Apparently being chosen due to them having a young side. They want someone who can come in and nurture the youth. Got to say there aren’t too many better candidates for that.

Ah right well I wouldn't really call that compensation as such then? More like a rebate?
