called into the England squad!
Didn't see that coming.

I thought Gallagher was excellent when he was here.

He had a few good moments in his first games but then drifted off.
He certainly divided opinion from yours to some who thought he was no better than we already had in the squad but was picked because he was one of Cooper's Cup heroes.
IMO decent enough but didn't offer anymore than Grimes.

A minority on this forum are able to assess players without bias.

As we can see from some of the replies here, others do not.

How does this side match up to Mondays squad v Barnsley ? by huwrichards57 14 May 2021 3:16
Last year thought he made a very big error in leaving Cabango out for the second leg, tbh I think Benny makes us much stronger at the back

I thought he offered relatively little with us tbh.
Young though so he has time to mature and improve.

I hope he gets 100 England caps.

To not be better than Woody one would have to be pretty abject.
A craven excuse for a keeper that kept the perfectly capable Hamer away.

His quality was obvious on loan here due to the fact that he contributed something like eight assists in five months despite being continually played out of position. Has been excellent for Palace this season by all accounts so not that much of a shock really.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Absolutely outstanding for Palace this season, a well deserved call up

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Grimes, ratings for this season 7.13
Gallagher 6.88
Gallagher 19 appearances 7 assists Direct goal involvement 1 goal 264 minutes
Routledge (who I know so many appreciated!!!) 21 appearances 4 goals3 assists. Direct goal involvement 1 goal 136 minutes.
Gallagher wasn't poor but gained a lot of praise for ordinary performances.

Which one is playing in the Premier League and been called up by England?

He was more influential for Charlton than he was for us. Seemed to do too much running while he was here, always out of puff and miscontrolling the ball as a result. His arrival with Brewster coincided with our worst run of form of the season.

Well done to him for getting called up against San Marino after half their squad pulled out. Good spells at West Brom and Palace but it's going to be a big job to lock down a place in their midfield with youngsters like Rice, Bellingham, Smith-Rowe all knocking about.

Gallagher was I believe just 19 when he got to Swansea with hardly any league games under his belt. He was very inexperienced but anyone with half a football brain could easily observe that he had all the qualities needed to make a Premier League footballer. Of course he was inconsistent as all young players are. He was still developing as a player and still is. In another five years he will reach his peak and if he stays injury free expect him to a regular in a good Premier League side.

And it was indeed thanks to Steve Cooper that he came to Swansea. Along with Guehi what excellent prospects they both are.

He had 26 Championship games under his belt when he arrived. We sold DJ after just 33. After 26 games here Guehi was ready to be a Chelsea starter according to many of our fans.

Moving out of his mum and dad's must have really unsettled the poor lad.

Yes as I said hardly any league games. 26 is hardly any.

Not sure what point you’re trying to make anyway.

And yes he might well have been missing home. Most of us do when we are that young leaving home.

So you don’t rate Guehi or Gallagher?

I’ll stick with Vieira’s & a lot of pundits views which is obviously different to yours.

Guehi was the most complete defender I’ve seen at this level. It’s a shame we couldn’t have hung onto Rodon for a few more months, that would have seen us over the line I reckon. Not convinced with Bennett or Cabango.

Or held out for money rather than be bullied by Dan Levy.
Joe's career on hold right now too. He'll be earning big money but bored to be benched. A cracking lad and a tremendous player. Huge loss we have nowhere near replaced.

Guehi came good eventually but it took a long, long time.
Gallagher was decent but like a lot of players 'from off' didn't deserve the praise lavished on him.
But good for him, works hard and has improved.
