Will you be wearing a mask on public transport in shops etc ?

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Here’s one for you.
An elederky person with breathing difficulties, on a train, bus, whatever, mask exempt asks you to put one as they are frightened of catching the virus. What do you do ?

Simplistic I know but If it was a relative of mine , I'd make sure he/she didn't have to catch public transport

Apologies and put your mask on, it's a question of respect, simple as.

I’d already have one on, but if I didn’t and could wear one I’d put one on.

It may be easier for these big stores to just refuse entry. They have security staff there, but they don't care as long as they make a sale

Fair point. The woman who runs the cinema is getting some grief over her position, companies like Tesco should be doing the same. The Cops don’t have the personnel to enforce mask wearing and other Covid regulations as they have enough to do their day job. There’s a lack of political weight behind the enforcement, it’s a case of Boris talking things up but not wanting to really do much about the issue. If they wanted it enforced, they’d have to dish out huge amounts of OT to the police etc to make staff available to enforce it.

Yes it is the law, it’s been passed by Parliament and yes I will be and have ben wearing a mask throughout, small price to pay to save someone’s life.

Oppression ? So many people ask about how wonderful Britain was ‘back in the day’ talk about the Blitz spirit. Same people refuse to do things for the public good. Theres so many articles from doctors in hospitals begging people to comply, I’ve no idea why they won’t show a modicum of respect to these wonderful people that have saved so many lives,

This is still not over. Irrespective what this awful PM and his cabinet do.

Yep, "blitz spirit" & "I would/wouldn't have person X with me in the trenches" uttered by many utter bellwhiffs who feel that vaccines are oppression even when enforced public health mandates have bee legal and accepted for over a hundred years.

Any successful prosecutions for not wearing a mask? Or are you just making it up as you go along?

I've read with interest all the measure supposedly going to be introduced in Bavaria, Austria, Greece etc, and i have to say that i find it all bizarre, making unvaccinated people wear badges, inflicting monthly charges for the unvaccinated, i mean where the hell is this all going. I have never in my whole life heard of this going on in previous Pandemics, I m telling you now this is not good, this will not end well. Even some of the vaccinated are beginning to question the motives. Something is not right with this picture.

Yes sir. I’ve prosecuted and defended some.

Whatever else I may be, I don’t make anything up.

In time when we look back on this period and hopefully we’ll understand more, those who wear masks where required will have two thoughts:

Either

I wore a mask and prevented1000s of unnecessary COVID transmissions

Or

I was mildly inconvenienced for a small period of time in certain crowded spaces for no reason.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

Just come back (flight) from an oversees jaunt with a large group from the extended family. We’ve all been pinged on track and trace having been exposed to Covid. Apart from when I was eating/drinking, I wore a mask (as did most of the family) but I can’t say the same for a significant number of the other passengers. Now have to go through the hassle of PCR’s and potential exposure to Covid, Fuming.

Public health mandates have existed for generations so your limited timescale view is deeply flawed. I'm not arguing your points, merely pointing that your start point is bereft of the majority of time and actions.

Just out of interest the ones you prosecuted, did they more or less incriminate themselves, by saying something like, 'don't believe in it'?

Because from what I can see, there seems to be no way a prosecution can take place for non mask wearing, if the accused just says, I'm exempt There is no legal requirement to wear a badge displaying this.

Would a prosecution be impossible, if those words were said?

Wasn't having a pop it was a genuine question as I know a lot of people who have been fined for not wearing a mask, those that fought it had it chucked out in court

If a person runs a defence in court saying they’re medically exempt, they’ll need to show how and why they’re exempt. Court is different to a shop. If they’re genuinely exempt they’ve no reason no to do so. If they’re not, they deserve all they get.

On the spot fines should be introduced. Simple.
£50 a pop and everyone will soon wear masks.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I really don’t understand the problem. I was in the Court of Appeal in London yesterday and had to wear a mask on the train and the tube . It was a pain but it did it. Virtually everyone on the tube was wearing one. Most people are sensible

Thanks, From what I understand doctors won't issue an exemption letter, so the way I see it, you can self exempt yourself.

I would think, there would be no need to prove how and why, just by saying putting a mask on causes anxiety and distress, would suffice.

Can’t see that working, it doesn’t work when people refuse to provide a sample of blood for drink drive offences.

Maybe those exempt are those who would most benefit from mask wearing.

It's inconvenient to me wearing glasses and hearing aids and Im certain I could be exempted but it' a small price to pay to help your fellow man.
Too many are simply selfish

If you dont like a mask to shop, send someone on your behalf

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Entirely different, if asked to provide a blood sample, you would have already blown a sample of breath to be above the legal limit.

I'm not advocating non mask wearing, but I'm certainly against people being prosecuted when they shouldn't be.

That's why I said to Sirjohn, about people incriminating themselves, surely if it got to the stage of being questioned by police, then all you have to say is, I am exempt, if the doctors won't issue you a letter, you have no choice but to exempt yourself.

I normally wear a mask in shops, but if I was pulled for not wearing one, I would tell them that, and if the police pursued it any further, as in taking me to court, I would definetely consider suing them.

I got to say, that I find it very hard to work with a mask or wear one for any length of time, I get all flehmy and feel that my breathing is compromised, highlighted by getting hot and bothered, I've tried several masks and they all seem to give the same result.

Not in court no. You’d need to provide evidence. Could be your GP’s notes eg. Problem is there’s so many people who have nothing wrong with them who are claiming expemtion.

Yes, my evidence would be I suffer anxiety and distress putting one on.. How could you prove otherwise.. Or if someone said 'I can't breathe with one on' how could you disprove that statement?

Regardless if there are so many people claiming exemption , the point is, if people are being prosecuted for this, they shouldn't be, it's a grey area of law, and nothing is crystal clear.
