No they haven't. The "nudge unit" referred to was in Camerons government.

You've posted a link you haven't read again haven't you?

I've just read it again, it says no such thing. You're full of it, don't worry Brynmill believes you.
[Post edited 14 Jan 2022 23:29]

The nudge unit was started in Cameron's government and is still there.
The accusations of fear inducing propaganda was made by the previous head of that unit and you are saying he doesn't know what he is talking about.
Just like very expert in the world that disagrees with your outlook are all also wrong.
I will take his word over yours any day of the week

You said.

"they admitted they used scare tactics."

The "they" is someone who is no longer involved and refers to his previous involvement in completely different things. Details. But important details you didn't pick up on. You never do.

Does it matter how old it is? You claim the UK overreacted but South Africa had greater restrictions.

It basically proves you completely wrong.

Your logic is baffling.

Surely you can’t be that thick ? Where have I ever mentioned anything about restrictions in South Africa ? Listen to what I said, and this is the doctor who discovered omicron stated that the U.K. is overreacting, and that’s because omicron is extremely mild, and she is 100% correct.

I wish people Drakeford would open their eyes and ears and listen to others who know what they are talking about, instead of relying on the so called modelling and treating that modelling, in the same way as the Ancient Greeks would treat the oracle of Delphi.

What?

The title of this thread is "Britain is overeating to omicron", England reacted less than South Africa. South Africa had a similar level (if not greater) restrictions than Wales.

What do you find difficult to understand?

Where in the thread title do I mention South Africa, or the restrictions South Africa had in place ?
The fact is the Doctor who first discovered omicron is South African, no where did I mention the Dr has any influence over South African government policies.

You are reading things that don’t aren’t there. I’ll say it again for you. The doctor who first discovered omicron said and I’ll quote “The UK is overreacting to omicron”.
Nothing hard to understand, really isn’t.

85% of the Britain had virtually no restrictions so how did Britain overreact?

Drakeford overreacted and for too long. Westminster didn't

"The co-founder of No10's 'Nudge Unit' has accused the Government of using scare tactics to get people to follow Covid rules during the pandemic.
Behavioural scientist Simon Ruda suggested there had been an overemphasis on modelling and data that he warned was 'propagandistic'.
Writing in the magazine Unherd today, he said fear was initially used to boost public compliance during the first lockdown but had been carried right through the crisis.

'That fear seems to have subsequently driven policy decisions in a worrying feed-back loop,' said Mr Ruda, who help set up No10's Behavioural Insights Team in 2010.

In a response to the use of covid modelling to make decisions you said.

"the point about the government information which you totally ignored was that it was propaganda and not factual.
They deliberately used scare tactics and now admit to doing so."

They have made no such admission, someone who worked two prime ministers ago has claimed that is the case.

You lied in your very first response to my original post, because you think that giving your opinion which is at complete odds to the data supplied is not lying.
Quote "That first link is irrelevant though isn't it? "

How can a quote by an expert on psychological manipulation critisizing the government be "irrelevant"?
It doesn't matter that he no longer works for the government because that in no way reduces his expertise when you are trying to claim it does .
"He knew what he was talking about. Past tense. "
You deliberately make incorrect claims and then pick on odd words in reponses to hide the fact that you are wrong.
You then state, in your opinion "They didn't use scare tactics they portrayed the worst case scenario and acted on it, in the first two waves they were absolutely correct to do so"
When an expert in scare tactics says they did, quote "In my mind, the most egregious and far-reaching mistake made in responding to the pandemic has been the level of fear willingly conveyed on the public"

You change your angle of attack at every opportunity to hide that you were wrong from the start, classic Troll tactics.

Well that's a massive diversion again. You do that a lot for someone who doesn't do it.

Where have the government admitted to using scare tactic propaganda? I notice you've changed tune from the government admitting to doing so to "an expert on psychological manipulation". He may be an expert in that field but he is no longer part of a government team, he's speaking from opinion not inside knowledge as you alluded to.

I don't and didn't lie. You've misunderstood yet again.

It's irrelevant because the government have done nothing but rely on the modelling and been open about the worst case scenario. In his opinion its propaganda. In mine it's using the worst case scenario to make decisions and being open about the process.

Yes, the OSR rebuked Javid for his scare tactics of saying there were 200,000 cases when there wasn't any evidence for it.
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news
Try checking the government's own data for the December the 14th.

As to your continuing to ask about the government admitting to using scare tactics, they don't have to, their ex Expert did it for them.
It is also in the SAGE minutes
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne
"SAGE members have since claimed the British public have been 'subjected to an unevaluated psychological experiment without being told that is what's happening.' "

"How is my opinion that the link is irrelevant a lie"
Because it is relevant as the Expert pointed out and Javid's statement showed. They continually presented worst case scenarios based on crap modelling to get the public to accept controls, more vaccinations and boosters and vaccine mandates and passes.
It is lying by ommission for poilitical purposes.
Your problem is that you think it was absolutely necessary for "The Greater Good" which is a very slippery slope and a complete erosion of personal rights, which you arre in favour of.

In response to this comment "One SPI-B scientist told Ms Dodsworth: “In March [2020] the Government was very worried about compliance and they thought people wouldn’t want to be locked down. There were discussions about fear being needed to encourage compliance, and decisions were made about how to ramp up the fear. The way we have used fear is dystopian."
"Steve Baker, the deputy chairman of the Covid Recovery Group of Tory MPs, said: “If it is true that the state took the decision to terrify the public to get compliance with rules, that raises extremely serious questions about the type of society we want to become.

“If we’re being really honest, do I fear that Government policy today is playing into the roots of totalitarianism? Yes, of course it is.”"
