Britain is overreacting to Omicron 19:25 - Dec 15 with 11861 views73__73

DR Angelique Coetzee. No doubt the vaccination and lockdown zealots will call her a nutter etc.

Once again I’ve been proven correct - Britain is overreacting.
Drakeford will push more people in wales into poverty with his ridiculous policies, make you think is that his aim in the first place, make more people reliant on the state.

Think you will find Drakeford, Nicola are overacting meanwhile in England they are looking at the scientific evidence first. The have even cut the isolation period from 10 to 7 days if you have a negative lateral flow tests on day 6 and 7.

If scientific evidence is being listened too, why has the isolation period been cut to 7 days in England and kept at 10 days in Wales. Peoples lives and businesses are at stake here. How can the scientific evidence differ from one region to another, or are they adjusting the evidence to suit their political agender. Possibly nobody has a clue what to do for the best.

Drakeford doesn’t need a pandemic to push more people into poverty, his lack of forward thinking on infrastructure to attract business to Wales being a prime example.

But the people of Wales continue to vote for him.

He made his move before considering all of the evidence.

It's a big call whether to put restrictions in place or not based on what we knew a week ago, but now it seems that the restrictions in Wales may be over the top. If the omicron peak has indeed passed in London without too much bother then we know what is to come.

Will he now roll back some of the restictions? Of course not, he's be admitting he made a bad call.

Meanwhile I can sit in a pub crammed full of tables of 6 people but 51 people spread around a rugby pitch can't watch Pontyberem RFC play on boxing day. Brilliant.

And lets be honest if you are 18 you can book 3 tables of six when you go inside the pub/restaurant and still comply with the rules.

Had my result this morning, its positive but they've not said what strain it is, I asked when IO had my test and they said that I would be told, rung 119 earlier and they couldn't tell me, bloody hopeless.

All the best Max. Sounds as if you caught just before the booster could take effect.

Thet only sequnce about 30% of tests to know what variant it is, they may not know.

Hope you're better soon.

Yep. And here’s the key point in the subheading of the article:

“ The data clearly demonstrates that people are far more likely to end up in hospital should they be unvaccinated”

It’s really, really basic maths.

And if you'd read the whole story, it would tell you the numbers say the unvaccinated are far more likely to end up in hospital,

Go on, read it all.

A lot of us felt Wales was over reacting. A lot of what was said showed that Omicron is less dangerous than Delta.

PS, they changed the rules so local teams could have spectators, up to 50 I think.

I doubt very much that those deaths are related to Omicron, the strain has not been in Wales long enough.

So, explain these "basic maths" to us please.
Because according to this Welsh NHS website which that Mail online data was taken from here
https://www2.nphs.wales.nhs.uk

Which is the latest data that I can find, perhaps there is later data elsewhere?
But what it shows is that when this data was reported 02/12/2021 they showed
Welsh Unvaccinated = 18.6% of the population
Welsh Vaccinated = 81.4% of the population
Welsh Unvaccinated in hospital = 16.5%
Welsh Vaccinated in hospital = 79.6%
Unknown status in hospital = 3.9%

There is a major difference between admitted to hospital, they rates they showed and actually staying in hospital.
Even the website I linked to is being deceitful because that table 4. showing those in hospital did not show the rates per 100,000 and this is why.
Unvaccinated = 17.36245081
Vaccinated = 19.07016013

Massive difference of 0.024570025

You don't do numbers do you?
The Welsh data shows that there is little difference in actual hospitalizastion rates where a stay in hospital is required.

I’m looking at the Uk figures.

I try not to select a subset to suit an argument.

The probability is the ones unvaccinated are likely to be a lot younger than ones vaccinated, that no doubt hasn't been taken into consideration, when data has been compiled.

For those fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca's vaccine, booster effectiveness dropped from 60% to 35% with a Pfizer booster and to 45% with a Moderna booster after 10 weeks, the UKHSA

I will need another shot in feb. Not sure there's much point, especially if Omicron is confirmed as being mild

Why do you introduce UK stats when the discussion is about a WOL article on Wales?

Because the larger the sample the more accurate the data.

Trump seems to agree the case in the US too. Or has he been taken in?

His massive ego will not allow him to accept that he was completely fooled by the CDC/FDA and the vaccine manufacturers.
He cannot even admit to the severe adverse events shown in the VAERs system.
