Russia invade Ukraine 14:17 - Dec 23 with 153150 viewsFlynnidine_Zidownes

Discuss.

Also why is Putin always described in the media as this rugged strongman? He’s barely five foot tall with his high heels on.

But that’s another debate.

You only need an ounce of common sense to see that a 40 mile queue of military hardware perched like sitting ducks on a highway in a foreign country for all the world to see isn't a feint.

If it wasn't feint why do you thing it sat there for weeks and then suddenly just redeployed to the South East to complete the surrounding of the major Ukraine army.
Do you think it was because they couldn't have mass attacked Kiev if they had really wanted to?

Russia has 79 combat ready divisions, so far they have used 9. The Ukranian military infrastructure is being slowly eliminated

With all due respect the Ukrainian military infrastructure should have been eliminated by now.

We're three months in and what has Putin achieved apart from show the world his armed forces are a bit crap.?

Yesterday he killed a newly born baby and his mother in Odessa. Yet still you roll out the propaganda.

They haven't just suddenly deployed to SE Ukraine though have they? Putin announced a change in tactic to target the SE a month ago and have made relatively little progress since. Every troop movement that Russia makes is watched.

They sat in a traffic jam on the road because they thought progress would be easy and it wasn't. It's completely humiliating for them. Do you seriously think the Russian army would sit on that road for weeks while being watched by the world via satelite and at risk of being obliterated?

Militarily Russia could pretty much do what they want, eventually, but even Putin isn't stupid or deperate enough yet to escalate this to a war that Russia cannot win.

Oh come on, surely even you can see it. The convoy was stopped because it couldn't go any further. It was held up by breakdowns, by desertions too apparently and ultimately by the vanguard units being driven back and getting a good beating. They redeployed because they had to save face.

There was a video somewhere of a unit of Russian tanks being taken apart by Ukraine resistance using modern anti tank weapons though no doubt you'd say that was fake!

PS, they deployed to surround Mariupol, not a major Ukraine army. They tried for weeks to take Kyiv and they failed.

There really are none so blind.

You honestly believe it was a "feint" ? no army can afford to lose men and equipment at the rate the Russians had been with little or no gain, all those resource has had to be replaced at the monetary cost and the falling morale , and whilst that was going on other part of the country were given time to prepare for what they knew was coming next. .If it was a diversionary tactic then why not adopt the same tactics as we're now seeing in the east of Ukraine . Putin attacked Kiev the centre of government hoping to install his own puppet government (Best way to win a war ever, kill/capture the leader in your first battle) but failed dismally something which wasn't expected even by your so called experts such as Col Mc Gregor and Scott Ritter ( one of whom you claim are experts and never to be questioned) who both announced to the world that Ukraine would fall on the 1st day .

You know what it is, our experts are wrong and his are right...that's the mindset no matter the evidence.

And on the first day, Putin created a proper mess! But to some on here he a god who shall not be questioned.

I find it strange why anyone would take sides with a nation which has a proven record of aggression, subjection and domination over its own and other countries . The West is not prefect and we've committed enough of the above of our own but all these references back to decades now seems to justify what's happening today , a so called modern society destroying another on the whim of a mad man with dreams of obtaining his "noble goals" something even he's not clear about

It’s odd that all those who peddled all the anti vax nonsense seem to be the same people who are in love with Putin and want to lick his scrotum.

I guess some people just want to believe themselves smarter than most, even if it means serving up the hot garbage that they do.

Suspect a higher than average percentage of 9/11 truthers will be found in the mix as well.

Sadly not true . Russian started as the Duchey of Moscow and was relatively small. It expanded after the Mongols withdrew and conquered all the surrounding land now know as Russia. Further conquest followed of independent countries bordering it. These became Soviet Socialist Republics after the Russia revolution. Most of these former Socialist Republics regained their freedom following the collapse of the USSR leaving the core rump to be called Russia.

The West isn’t perfect and yes we had an Empire a hundred years ago and no doubt we did some pretty bad things to build the Empire, but that was in the past and there’s not a lot we can do to turn the clock back. What’s happening in Ukraine is happening now.

Yes, it's all true. I myself was locked up with many others in Mumbles Gulag.....oh sorry, that was a lock in down the Oystercatcher, which like Gulags is no longer there. Gulags though, Russia sent millions of its own people to them about 18 million,

Ask Putin's political opponents today, are they free or subjugated and I suspect the Putinators on here wouldn't like the answer.

I don't mean just the British empire. Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, USA, Spain Portugal, the list goes on. Any of their smaller nations could outdo Russia with their past records. It's not just Europe either, Africa, Asia all have their darker sides.

Yes but most countries no longer believe it is acceptable to invade other countries, kill civilians, execute soldiers and sanction genocide. Of course Russia still believes this is acceptable as do China still occupying Tibet, crushing democracy in Hong Kong and commiting genocide against their own Muslim population.

Any of the smaller nations could outdo Russia.....HMMmmmm.

Have all those named countries together locked up as many of their own people in forced Labour camps as Russia has?

Are any of those named countries currently involved in invading a sovereign state, committing war crimes, targeting and murdering civilians, lying to their own people about it and making veiled threats about nuclear weapons and a third world war?

Then from another perspective, accepting that all those countries have very dark bits in their histories, how does that even remotely justify what Putin has done and is doing?

You've tried this tack before, the whataboutery, what about the British Empire, the Germans, French etc and it was a straw man argument the first time. Those histories are just that, history, in the past. Who can possibly, with any sanity, say that what Russia is doing isn't so bad because...history!

I condemn Russia for what it's doing, but the west and particularly the US has done far worse.

Before we get too upset with Putin invading Ukraine, let's not forget what we did to Iraq.
For him to be a bigger bastard than we were, he'll have to kill between 400,000 and a million and a half Ukrainians, many of them innocent women and children, which is what we did to the Iraqis.

Let's see if he manages to kill more Ukrainians than we did Iraqis. Then we can see who is the more evil empire. What Putin won't do is destabilize an entire region, like we did in the Middle East

And people are still stupid enough to vote Labour, despite their leader at the time Blair, who took us into an illegal war that has resulted in millions of deaths, and the loony lefties still cover for the odious piece of shite.

But all the hypocrites are concerned about is if BOJO had some cake in his garden😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 , shows us all what their morals are.

Seems Russia is starting to cut off its gas exports. Poland and Bulgaria two countries formally occupied by Russia will have their gas cut off. Apparently Russia does not enough Rubles to pay for the war.

Looks like they are turning the gas off, meanwhile India is buying more cheap Russian oil.
We should remember who are friends are and who continues to trade with Putin while all this is going on.

Yes they have and more. Who was the first with concentration camps? Nazis murdered 11 million citizens. Belgian Congo, The US in 30 countries since ww2.

The US is bombing Somalia at the moment. Apart from this those countries aren't involved in anything at the moment, but it wasn't long ago that we were kicked out of Iraq and Afghan. The only reason there weren't war crimes, is, because the US hasn't signed up to the International justice system, and besides that, who would speak out against them, unless they want to join Assange

It's all about the money.

Stop the Russian gas and the US can and are sending more expensive LNG to Europe. It was always part of their plan to sell more to Europe and China too.Japan get's a lot from them as well, but that market is contracting This is why the US has been stirring the brown stuff in the Ukraine for years.

US gas cannot compete on price with the Russians, so demand for Russian gas will prevail over any altruistic feelings towards the Ukraine. It's called real politik
