They are still way behind the UK total vaccination rate despite approving the vaccine first. UK vaccination rate per 100 people 201 (5th in tye World) EU vaccination rates per 100 people 166 (35th in the world) |

U.K. started quicker but is mid-table in terms of first two doses. Highest booster (3rd dose) rate so you are both right and wrong. But it’s not ‘leading” nor “lagging’

Correct your chart shows the UK has administered the most booster doses in the Europe. Your chart for some reason does not show all EU countries but includes Norway and Switzerland. Does per 100 of population UK 201 5th in world list EU average 35th in world list Glad you chart agrees with my figures.

Not perfect but it something. You can also request what is effectively a doctors paper for your absence. I can’t see too many people trying it on to be honest. |
It’s easy to try it on. You can get a positive test result by chucking Coca Cola or orange juice on the test. Something to do with the acid triggers a positive result. There’s one malingering 🔔-end I work with who is testing positive every other week. The problem with testing and isolation, lockdowns etc is that it all relies on the general honesty of folk. Unfortunately there is a significant chunk of the population who will see an opportunity to have a free week off and take it with both hands. This is probably why we have seen massive spikes in “positive cases” in and around Christmas week/new year.

He said EU average so producing the individual data for every country is just playing games. Or should we look at the worst performing EU country and boast we are doing so much better? As bonkers as Bojo is, he has still managed to do better (and even worse) than other countries, depending on which issue you mention. Vaccine rates good, corruption rates veeeerrrry BAD!

I’d have every NHS employee do a lateral flow test in the hospital.

Why? That’s a bit dull and unnecessary and risks bringing infection in to the work place where there are potentially sick and vulnerable people. Down our way there’s a requirement for NHS staff to self test every day before coming in to work. Those that provide a positive result have to attend a government site and undertake a PCR test. If a government PCR test isn’t available, staff are instructed to attend one of the Trust’s own pre op screening sites where clinical staff undertake the test. Samples are processed internally and dependent on demand and volume of work results are usually known very quickly. Staff are updated and attend work or stay off as per result of tests. Every effort is made to keep people in work and there’s none of this request a PCR through the post stuff that I’ve seen in other industries. [Post edited 9 Jan 2022 20:26]
