Why don't you give it a rest? You’ve started to derail a decent thread.

A poster wants someone to pay for £5 tickets. I suggested the Trust. They have £880k sitting in their bank account doing next to nothing. On the thread no derailment.

I believe it is feasible. Exeter city Supporters Trust run the everyday affairs of their club with an execute board including setting ticket prices.

| £5 Entry on 06:09 - Jan 17 by YrAlarch | Unfortunately those times when 'working people' identified with the footballers they watched week in week out have long gone. As long as we have wealthy Saudi, Russian, Chinese, American etc 'investors' willing to pay inflated transfer fees and wages then that disconnect will prevail. I cannot see that changing now. It seems that modern football club supporters welcome such investment, regardless of it's dubious origins. Just look at the reaction of Newcastle fans to their Club's takeover. Yes, bumping into Swans players down the old snooker hall has long gone. |
That ended when the team training moved from Jersey Marine.

The person who wants to attend the game can pay for it themselves, or the seat will stay empty. Exeter City Supporters Trust are majority owners in the club, Swansea City Supporters Trust aren’t.

You've answered your own question. Swansea City Supporters Trust only own 21% so don't have the decision to instigate CLNs, or be included in them. The Americans do but they choose not to involve the trust so blame them.

| £5 Entry on 08:34 - Jan 17 by jack_lord | Builthy, I think there are 6500 thousand seats available that are not already paid for. Probabably 4000 for the home support. It would be a nice gesture but surely it would be loe making exercise, especially if all the seats are nor sold? Away fans will probably come anyway but what percentage would that increase by if prices were slashed? Better merchandise sales on the day and more food sold for sure. |
A thousand at £25 will generate more income than 4000 at £5 even if we could get an extra to 4,000 to turn up.

Gate money yes. That's the narrow look on it. Refreshments, merchandise, would make up for that. Plus some may come back again. Plus a better atmosphere. Fill those empty seats.

Why don't your friendly EX owners stump up some cash? Prior to them losing in Court (as the club isn't footing that bill!) would be good

The ex owners are still actually owners owning around 5% each of the club. I highlighted the words of Mr Winter which stated the US and (other shareholders) had contributed to the convertible loan note. This is likely to mean the sellers still keeping a holding. This money is keeping the club in the black buying new players doing maintenance and subsidising season ticket holders. (you may be one). The fact is the sellers (sellouts you probably call them) have invested while the fans have not. Swansea.com has sponsored the stadium for £1m. Owned by a seller. I believe that the sellers (sellouts) have resolved their business with the US owners already. I do not believe there will be a court case but could be wrong. They seem to be getting on fine these days. You ask why the sellers do not stump up cash? . They have. Fans need to demand more of their own organisation that was worth close on £20,000,000 for 3-4 years in the Premier league.

| £5 Entry on 22:23 - Jan 19 with 429 views | AndyCole | . 'Build it and they will come' (Field of Dreams, how apt). We need to build on the 2nd half vs Hudds, and the 2nd half vs West Brom, and the 2nd half vs Luton etc etc. And build a winning offering. A winning offering will draw the plastics back. This should be the focus of the Board and Marketing team. To 'sell' the winning formula, make it more obvious to the passives that what we are doing is building an exciting brand of winning football. The mooted £5 ploy smacks of short termism, shallow and a poor attempt of drawing sustainable, ongoing interest. The fans would see right through it and perhaps resent it. Our proper fans would and should be more than willing to properly support our winning team, and help recuperate the massive financial hit the Swans and all clubs have suffered. Get the Marketing right. . . | |

- a sponsorship deal isn't investing in the club. It's a contract paid for services rendered. - the trust have paid the players wages in the past. So they have invested. - what business did the sellouts have to resolve with the US owners? - what insight do you have into the trust and the American owners that gives you the impression they are getting on fine? - they aren't a bank account. And as you know, they were excluded from monetising their worth. Now they are pursuing it though, you criticise them. Another demonstration of your inherent bias.

The sponsorship deal is another example of commitment to the cub by people invested in the club and city. It may be in leau of actual investment. All the Trust's great activities were 20 years ago. I applaud the pioneers of the Trust. I argue they have lost their way. The open dialogue minutes were enlightening and suggested people working together. Mr Winter has always talked in respectful terms of the Trust.

- as I say it's a services contract. He pays the club money, club advertises his company. - you say they have lost their way although you offer no substance behind that claim. The only way they operate any differently is because they have less of a loud voice and sway through no fault of their own. - Winter and the day to day workings of the club have in reality no connection to the shareholdings issue and American owners, so it's not particularly relevant because they are the ones who make the really large significant decisions&we know that they aren't open and transparent with the trust. We know that to be fact.
