Well then, it seems as if sections of Labour are turning toryesque on us.

Here is an article for you.

Absolutely hated thatcher but bringing her family into it and someone who can't defend themselves is naughty

People can say anything about someone that's passed away because there's no law to defend them

It was a different time, when people could get away with bad behaviour of that nature more easily than today imo, do you believe the victims in the article ?, there is a difference between an alleged groper and an alleged rapist but do you think that people should say nothing about Jimmy Savile because he is dead and wasn't prosecuted when he was alive.

Here is an article for you.

Professor Crick said that his piece was "written in the spirit of good- humoured satiric rage".

Satire, Tramp. The piece was from Punch.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

I listened to my elderly relatives of that period also and Labour were staunch left wing and not social democratics, hence why they sing 'The Red Flag'.

So staunch in fact they fell over themselves accepting knighthoods and sinecure placements in The House of Lords...

Yes indeed for a reason, it was their way of getting it out there, they were afraid to go to Maxwell.

I heard my mum's Labour voting docker dad going on about the working class struggle and my dad's farming background dad going on about the untrustworthy politicians of all parties and the hypocrisy of the "working man". They can kick my 'ese Ive got the foreman's job at last.
Most that make it from humble roots never would live in a working class milieu but would make the most of their "humble upbringing" when it suited. Nobody eulogises about being brought up in a "middle class",comfortable home and going to a good school were kid want to learn and not just about how best to deal weed.It doesn't sell well.

My old fella told me not to trust any of them ever 100% and he was right about that.

He was also right about grafting, getting educated and being independent relying on nobody for anything. To stand tall and look kings, queens or paupers alike straight in the eye and treat them the same.

It's why I am so vehemently anti (British) monarchy. I reckon I am more anti Monarchy that tramp and killy combined as I do not have class war as my rationale.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Afraid? Maxwell sat half a dozen years as a Labour MP and had strong links (probably illegal) with senior figures behind the Iron Curtain.

The only reason I can imagine him being reticent about upsetting Thatcher at the time would be if he was trying to get public money from her for one of his dodgy schemes.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

An accusation is not evidence though. Did any victims or witnesses give police statements? Whereas Jimmy Saville had a lot of people come forward and does anyone now not hate that person? We all accept he was an evil piece of work.

What is worse is you are trying to discredit Thatcher by going after her family. Maggie's deeds are her own to be criticised for. Her father wasn't even a tory voter, apparently, he was a Liberal.

I don't understand the criticism of Thatcher. She obviously had strong family values. Perhaps best demonstrated through her enrichment of her (arms dealer - allegedly) son Mark to the tune of around £5 million due to her government's ropey arms deals with the likes of Saudi Arabia. Allegedly.

Are you suggesting Thatcher was the same as Saville because there's a picture of them together?

Much what I read could have been spouted from a Rhondda Miner circa 1927
