| Nottingham Forest on 00:12 - Mar 24 by Dr_Parnassus | You think we should have earned 92 points in a season? I defend common sense, not Cooper. Cooper just happens to be the target on this occasion. As I said, if you want to say we played poorly in that 90 mins, no issue. If you want to blame Cooper for that game and criticise his tactics, no problem. But when people start pretending he failed, pretending he should have broken all time club championship points records, pretend he didn't care or whatever other anti-common sense rubbish that is uttered - then I will stand up for sense. Laudrup came to us when we were a non Champions League club, he left us as... oh yes, still a non Champions League club. [Post edited 24 Mar 2022 0:13]

Nonsense. If I came on and said the sky is blue and the sun is orange, you would come on and say the sky is green and the sun is white just to disagree with me. You know he failed us. He took a team that was competing for the top two and made us very distant also rans in a two team shoot out. Whatever words you choose you to describe what happened that day, it was inexcusable. Had the roles been revered and Brentford had turned in such an abject performance against us, their manager would have been sacked the next day.

It has absolutely nothing to do with you. I had this common sense view and documented it on here long before you came onto the scene with your obsessive nonsense. We were never competing for a 92 point season, you are kidding yourself. Brentford went into that game as odds on favorites, of course if roles were reversed it would have been worse for Frank. They were expected to win. Brentford had spent 35m on players in the two seasons Cooper had spent 2m. His stint here was clearly a marked success. You may not like that of course, but that isn't relevant to reality. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ ''Steve Cooper’s time at Swansea was a success. Despite regularly losing key players, Cooper twice led the Swans to the Championship play-offs.'' [Post edited 24 Mar 2022 0:37]

| Nottingham Forest on 23:15 - Mar 23 by STID2017 | As football fans of course we expect our team to win, especially against teams of equal standing. They finished one place above us. At the end of the season in the play offs, league standings count for nothing. Plus as I am sure you will acknowledge anything can happen in a one off game. When we played Man City under Potter, we could and should have won, but we were robbed by lack of VAR and blatant cheating. We never looked like scoring or really threatening the Brentford goal. Not once. That was down primarily to one man - Cooper. Not sure why you feel the need to defend him ? |
so you have forgotten about Ayews header early second half which went just passed the post...when Fulton was red carded we were attacking with 6 players inside the Brentford box...does that sound like a side not trying....we list to a better team the penalty was a turning point.....going behind so early was a blow their second goal came from a breakaway when we had six players in their box and 2 just outside Ayew fave the ball away and they broke with pace and we just 2 back.... you and others make it sound as though we didn't turn up we did have away a sloppy pen to a better side it was an uphill task from there. We arent even at the races to fall at the final fence this season and I doubt we will be again for a while to come...the past is the past..did Tosh fail because we didn't win the old Div 1 title as we were on top for a while... Liverpool won the title yet they failed to beat us with us drawing at Anfield and beating them at the Vetch.... Opinions but to diss Cooper for 90 mins is crazy..and for discussions still to rage on about past events whilst we are going through what we are is mad.

| Nottingham Forest on 00:07 - Mar 24 by STID2017 | Possibly we should have yes. Or at least enough to finish in second. Why do you defend Cooper so much ? It is sad as he has ultimately done nothing for us. He came to us when we were in the Championship and when he left we were ... oh yes still in the Championship |
Potter is lauded when he arrived we were just relegated form the PL had a squad ful of PL players and spent some money on transfers having rh benefit of parachute payment he managed to finish 10th since he left tp manage in the PL he has not set the world alight Cooper arrived yes we were in the Championship we lost two star players in Oli and Dan with Dan also being the player who had got us out of our seats during Potters reign of "magnificent" football....we finished 10th in our first Championship season yet with very little spend on transfer fees we finished 6th yes we benefited from some PL club youngster loanees but as is much stated Geuhi was pretty ineffective for most tof the season and then Brewster and Gallacher helped out 2nd half so we improved Our second season under Cooper saw the heart of our defence taken away with Van Der Hoorn and the Rodon going again little spent on transfers though again we had some loan options some good some not so good and we lost Gibbs White early doors who could have made a difference had he stayed...none the less we finished 4th in the league and lost in the play off finals...efectively our league position was a true indication we lost to the team in third. YEs we were in the Championship when Cooper arrived but under him we rose 6 postiions. SInce leaving us Cooper has taken the side he joined form the bottom of the table to touching distance of the play offs and many pundits tip him to get there and winning promotion despite his lack of preseason and input to player acquisition. This season Russell Martin has arrived with us in the Championship, admittedly we lost some player but we have spent some £5.5M or so as well as having PL club loanees, we finished 4th last season yet we find ourselves 16th 12 places below where we finished last season so whilst under Cooper we progressed under MArtin we are going the other way. WE had a player who played for Liverpool in the Champions league and PL last season so he would not have come cheap...yet MArtin completely mismanaged him...a naturally left footed player who played on the left side for Liverpool was played on the right for us whilst Cabango naturally right footed usually played on the right was played on the left ....I dont call that playing to players strengths. When Martin arrived we had just finshed 4th in the Championship we may finish 14th at best....ut of course no preseason, exodus of players are to blame, like that doesnt happen at other clubs or not happened here before. You are correct Martin does need help but he wont accept it The "blind" support he received and still does from some quarters is unbelievable..to deflect from his shortcomings attention is deflected to our previous manager who also had his faults but at least delivered results and yes failed at the final fence but at least he made best use of the resources available to him. I care about my club I am frustrated that we find ourselves in our lowest league position for many a year whilst also playing "crap"...with no signs of any glimmer of light. IT worries me too about the calibre of the clubs leadership .....I am not convinced by Winter and our DoF has no real football pedigree...meanwhile I keep being told Martin needs more time and transfer windows. So I do go on mainly as I care and also cannot stand the hypocrisy and revisionism that goes on on here when discussing things. We all are entitled to our opinions but when the arguments used to back them up are flawed I cant sit by and let it go on...
