So you can only have a successful season if you get promoted? That’s baffling.

Did Chris Coleman fail in Euro 2016 by finishing 3rd out of interest? Giving Wales their best showing at a major Finals. Was he a failure?

AsWe didn't compete so yes failed at the final hurdle. Like the horse in the Grand National that falls at the final fence therefore didn't look like winning in the end. That was Cooper and Swans last May

We did compete, we only lost 2-0 with 10 men to a side now mid table in the Premier League. The Grand National is a single race. A season is the equivalent 46 individual races. If a pretty average horse that wasn’t expected to do much at all, managed to get to the Grand National by winning the majority of the previous 46 races then that horse racing season would be a resounding success for the horse, regardless of expectedly losing in the Grand National.

Believe what you like. You are totally mistaken on this one. He failed us twice and glad to see him gone. He will fail Forest when it comes down to it too.

The idea that Cooper had no centre forward is a myth. He had Goykeres for 6 months and did not develop him. He would have been available of a snip price at the end of he season. Goykeres has close to matched Piroe for goals and impressed many at Coventry under a manger that believed in him. He is also outscoring Keinan Davis who Cooper did want and now has. Had Cooper been a good team player and networker the two USA internationals would not have come as he would have n been able to dissuade Winter and co from going down that route. They came after Obafemi got crocked in training.

Goykeres was hopeless when he was here....it happens with players Brewster was electric here and did little at Sheffield United...

There was one point we were only about a point off second with about four games in hand and lost them all. From memory at one point we had only conceded 17 goals quite far into the season and 7 of them were against Huddersfield.

There is nothing to believe, it’s simply a fact. We had two successful seasons under Cooper, not getting promoted doesn’t mean failure. Otherwise we have failed almost every single year. Laudrup failed to win the Premier League.

Indeed, it came from his success. We had the most incredible first half of the season, possibly in the clubs history. Did we have a better one that that? Certainly not in my lifetime. People said it was the second half of the season that let us down, yet if we replicated the first half of the season in the second half we still wouldn’t have been promoted automatically. I think we got 43 points in the first half of the season and 37 in the second half. 6 points difference. Yet finished 11 points and 16 GD behind second. Automatic promotion was never a realistic prospect. To expect a 92 point season is pie in the sky stuff.

Gyokeres hasn’t been very good for Coventry either. He had a 10 game purple patch. That’s about it. He’s scored 4 in his last 25 games.

A you say with comparing Cooper and Martin you must consider the whole season not just part of it. Goykeres may have been rubbish because Cooper did not play him. Cooper wanted Davis last season and he has not set the VChampionship alight. The club delivered Cooper, Goykeres (a real goal threat in this league) and Gibbs White another real talent alongside Ayew and Lowe. Nothing to complain about in my view. He also had Peterson who was no mug but he refused to play for Cooper.

I have considered the whole season. 13 goals in 37 games is hardly a wonderful return. Looking at the whole season it’s strikingly obvious that the bulk of those goals came in a 10 game purple patch. I have also split Martin and Coopers seasons down to show how they have progressed or regressed. Gibbs White was available for what, 4 games? Lowe is a winger and Ayew is a wide forward. Neither can be accurately described as centre forwards. [Post edited 22 Mar 2022 14:58]

Goykeres was a credible centre forward. Gibbs White was placed under the service of Cooper and got injured. Morris got injured. Stuff happens .The club provided Copper with the tools. To argue the club did not back i him is fake. You said he had no recognised centre forward. Goykeres is recognised 1 in 3 goal per game is recognisable form.

What do you mean by credible? You said he was rubbish when he was here, which he was of course. So Cooper should be happy with his options despite them not being available? You don’t half talk some nonsense. I said a suitable centre forward. Gyokeres was not suitable as he was rubbish, as you also stated. In January he asked for a centre forward and was given some ridiculous off season American loans, a sub keeper and a sub right back.

"In January he asked for a centre forward and was given some ridiculous off season American loans, a sub keeper and a sub right back" In spite of which we managed to beat two and draw against another of the promoted teams before Cooper turned us into a simpering, whimpering version of ourselves at Wembley. He thought he was Crystal Palace bound and did not give a shite. Cant understand why you think the sun shines out of his harris

Oh aye. So can you explain why we turned from being top two contenders to no hopes in a two team race in such a short time ? Rather than being personal?

So you have never heard of the pressure of the moment causing players to lose their confidence and abilities? Do you watch much football other than the Swans? The most classic case was England in the Euros, they lost the ability to pass, trap the ball and score goals, even Rooney with all his skill and experience was totally lost.

Yes thanks plenty. If it was pressure of the moment how do you explain us going from top two contenders to play off sloppy seconds ? Wasnt just the 90 minutes at Wembley, although that was the worst IMHO

how were we top 2 contenders ...sorry STID you keep changing your arguement as you are challenged if all stemmed from the final now its failure to get automatic...you didn't like Cooper we get it but stop digging a hole

I hated Cooper mainly for buggering up two play off chances. Not really logical I detest Martin for exactly the opposite reason. I would have Cooper back in a heartbeat though and put a muzzle on him as he is so ugly. He'll be overjoyed to have got out though.
