We have Martin’s man that we have paid 500k for who we fought hard to get, we have Benda coming back from loan who has been very good at this level and we have Hamer.

Heading the ball is part of the rules of football. Tall goalkeepers can pass as well as Fisher and make saves. They are tall enough to collect the ball off the head of Kieffer Moore when required and place an elbow in his ribs while earning a free kick. They may have a stronger throwing arm.
Deliberately selling tall and strong players then complaining that the team cannot compete physically and athletically is suspect logic. Clearly Martin at 1-4 v Reading and 3-0 v AFCB could, if he had selected them, have brought on both Bennett, Burns or even Cameron Evans for the last 30 'dust up' as Ince and Parker went direct. Horses for courses. I fully support a manager that wants to bring back the beautiful game but fear he may be making the club soft and dandy through dogma.
I believe a strong captain would put the case to Martin to be more flexible and be able to react to opposition tactical switches and "leave it to the lads" to do what is required free of managerial prescriptions. |  |
