Should the Senedd be Abolished on 08:13 - May 25 by Kilkennyjack
Start with the victims of British rule.
Google is your friend here. But brace yourself.
The Indian famine, the worlds first concentration camps in South Africa, the treatment of the Aboriginal people in Australia, the Mau mau in Kenya and genocide in Ireland closer to home. Yes feared is the right word.
So much so that apart from Ireland (obviously) these nations opted for commonwealth status.

People were slaughtered under the butchers apron, thats the irrefutable bottom line.
people were slaughtered under the French, Spanish, Italian, German, USA, Chinese, Russian.......................................................................Belgian, Dutch...get the drift.
Let the country that is innocent cast the first stone!
It must be a constant source of consternation to you that Welshmen took part in much of the slaughtering, Picton for example.

Yes. He’s not completely in charge down here - haven’t you noticed we have a devolved government.
The same Boris who’s suddenly published a rewritten the ministerial code of conduct presumably to make him even less accountable!

Anyone who sets the rules and has them enforced , then is so stupid as to think they don’t apply to him , gets found out for breaking those rules because of his own stupidity and then seeks to change the rules he was too stupid to obey should not be anywhere near power.

This is yet another disgrace to add to the long list. Oh, I've broken the rules, naughty me, I must re-write the rules so I can carry on doing as I please.
It's been the constant downgrading of rules over the years that has seen society as a whole turn more rubbish.
My sister spoke to an orthopedic surgeon this week and was told that the waiting time expected for hip replacement surgery for patients with Swansea Bay University Health Board is FIVE TO SIX YEARS.
Staggering!

Not Swansea Bay HB - but I spoke with a guy I used to work with yesterday and he’s having his hip operation next month, he’ll have been waiting a year. Does it may vary from place to place and possibly the seriousness of the condition?

Not sure but for someone in Swansea the waiting time is a concern.
Quote:" A woman travelled to Lithuania for a hip replacement because the NHS in Wales faces such huge waiting lists.
Jill Davies, from Birchgrove, Swansea, waited four years to see a consultant and was told there was a further three-year wait for an operation.

When I had my hip replaced last June I had been waiting 5 years and 3 months. I'd threatened them with legal action too, I was told it was a matter of clinical need that decided these things but after the threat of a lawyer, funny enough, I had my op done 3 weeks later.
I'm not surprised their saying 5-6 years now because the list has grown a lot in the last 2 years. It doesn't help (and this is purely my opinion based on my experience) that people who know people jump the queue and people who kick off ( a lot sooner than I did) get done quicker to shut them up. A person just up the road had been waiting 12 months (when I'd been waiting just over 5 years) and started kicking off and was done before me. It was finding that out that led me to threaten legal action.

The money needed to pay for the 30 new Senedd members could pay 300 hip replacements every year.
Interesting story and something which should prick up the ears of those who are concerned about which way Wales is heading , all in the name of climate change

£4.25 million for a farm to save the Green Man festival, when the festival isn't on the farm that they've bought.
Drakeford and his clowns are ruining Wales.
Something smells in the mudflats of Cardiff. The Senedd's Public Accounts Committee has agreed to ask the Auditor General for Wales to investigate the purchase and to presents its findings to the Committee before they decide how to proceed further. "It's clear that Labour ministers have purchased this farm, using some £4.25m of taxpayer money, in an exclusive arrangement with Green Man without any business case to speak of. This is not how public money should be spent. I am pleased that the Public Accounts Committee has asked the Auditor General to investigate ". Greenman have stated they are not planning to move form its present site so who's pulling the strings ? Gilestone Farm isn't the only property being purchased by them so I do hope those who's role is to scrutinise those spending our taxes are as independent as they claim to be .WG pleads poverty & points the finger at Westminster whenever things go wrong. We have plenty of issues that can't be explained away as being Westminster's fault.

So you'll willing to accept all the misdeeds, mismanagement and downright incompetence by those who should have more in common with the population of Wales as long as those in Westminster look worse . Sums you up to a tee .

Like I asked Resloven, please start your own thread, don't hijack others.
This farm the Senedd bought, what will happen to it? Was it worth the 4.25 million and who owned it, who got the money?
The stench of corruption is everywhere in politics and even in places where it doesn't pervade there is the stink of idiocy and negligence.
Wales needs farmland to be farmed, we need food as much as we need to protect the environment. We have to restore the balance, covering fields in trees doesn't do that. If we are to have cheaper food, not the expensive imported food, we need to grow what we can.

The Senedd should not be abolished. Even the question itself is absurd.
Please stick to topic, not farming.

The Senedd should not be abolished.
This is not the opinion of the majority of people living in Wales and the majority on this board, just look at the poll.
Using a poll with 40 votes with a quite select demographic is not really representative of a country as a whole. If people want to remove the senedd they should campain for it, as people who want indy do. At the last election anti senedd parties ended up with about 1/4 of the votes, much the same as indy, with pro senedd parties mopping up the remaining 50% give or take.
