Should the Senedd be Abolished on 09:12 - May 30 by BryanSwan
Using a poll with 40 votes with a quite select demographic is not really representative of a country as a whole. If people want to remove the senedd they should campain for it, as people who want indy do. At the last election anti senedd parties ended up with about 1/4 of the votes, much the same as indy, with pro senedd parties mopping up the remaining 50% give or take.
I pretty much guarantee that a referendum asking keep or abolish that it would be gone.
Ask the simple question, you’ll get the simple answer.

Many voted Labour as they always do but would rather the Senedd didn't exist. The pro Senedd parties by your figures had less than 25% of the electorate voting for them. Not a overwhelming vote of confidence in the Senedd.

Of the number of possible votes, Labour got 16% of the electorate. More people voted Tory (2890000) than for Plaid Cymru (226000) approximately.
Now as Drakeford has said more than once he is for staying in the Union and the Tories are obviously pro union, the vast majority voted pro union.
About 10% of the electorate voted for Plaid. Doesn't that prove that Indy support is nowhere near the numbers claimed?

If you don't vote you don't get a say though, could say the same about any election/referendum around the world. I think in Labour there is certainly an element of indy voters although it would alaays be hard to tell the exact number. Whether that number is 10% 20% 30% 40% it doesnt really matter as it is not at a level to change anything.
But much like Abolish people have to vote for a party to do that, I included Tory figures in with abolish as they seem to be where most abolish votes would lie. Still only 1/4 of the actual votes.

Over 67% Voted to abolish the Assembly. They can't all be Conservatives.

I haven't said anything the 53.4% who didn't vote though, I have just pointed out how few people voted and that more voted Tory than Plaid.
I have no idea how the non voters may vote, they aren't interested in politics as a whole or maybe just the Senedd given that Uk GE turnouts are higher in Wales?

Might be abolish voters, conservatives or even non voters. I cannot see anyone who wants the senedd gone voting Plaid or Labour.
If that is 100% right then it is still only what, 26/27% of the potential total vote. I don't think it is right though. A person committed to voting can be a Labour voter and still be pro union, anti devolution. It comes down to choice, does that person, a Labour supporter, not vote or vote tory because they disagree with the Senedd?
Surely it'd just as likely be a case of I can't get rid of the Senedd but I can still vote Labour which is better than helping the tories. Possible do you think?

Anything is possible, although i think it is probably quite unlikely. Either way i think there isn't much of an argument for Abolish or Indy currently and the only way either would come to fruition would be voting in a party that supports those ideas.

Abolish stood just last year and they got about 3% of the vote.
That is a fact.
We love our Iconic Senedd. We love Prof Drakers.
We vote for progressive parties. Always in Cymru.
Yeah, we love them so much they get just 16% of the vote where 53.4% don't vote. Most people in Wales are at best apathetic towards the Senedd.
Welsh Labour progressive. A health service in decline, the worst in the UK. Welsh infrastructure not even fit for the 70's, Welsh schools...yes, very progressive if the end target is a return to Victorian Britain.

Correct.
3%. Laughable.
Whats laughable is the way Wales has been allowed to decline and yet posters ignore the facts that for as long as Labour continue to be elected nothing else matters .

Not true.
People want Indy for Cymru, and a new poll suggests its now the majority.

just in case you missed this little snippet " Of people who responded to our survey, most felt that it was very important to them. Again it should be remember that this is only a reflection of people who filled in the survey, it doesn't apply to the whole of Wales. People willing to fill in a survey on a topic are more likely to care about that topic " Only 10% of the Welsh electorate voted for an independence supporting party at the last election. If people felt strongly about independence then surly they would have voted for a party that advocates it? The fact that 90% of the electorate did not says to me that either they do not want independence or that the independence is not very high on their list of priorities. Ticks in boxes at elections say a darn sight more about the public mood than a survey

Labour know its a safe vote and tories know they'll never win a seat. Both therefore never spend money on Wales. And the little money Wales does get back from UK tories is not spent wisely by Labour. Wales is in a constant lose lose.

Survey’s and polls mean absolutely hee haw. I’ve personally never been asked how I feel about anything. How about a referendum for the Welsh people regarding what is a very important decision, especially in times such as these.

I've constantly said the same thing. Except for the "little money" thing, Wales gets enough money if it was spent properly. We get more money per head than most of England.
These polls are nearly always found to be wrong, they are often weighted, which basically means changed to suit the opinion the question setter wants to push.
The only poll that matters is the actual vote and over 53% didn't vote for anybody in the Senedd with just 10% voting for the pro indy party.
Those 18-24 year olds, how many of them actually bothered to vote and how many of them will change their minds as they get older and experience the realities that the current older generations know all too well?
