When you consider how much Forest have spent net this season against what Huddersfield have actually managed to recoup this season, then surely Carlos Corberàn should be Manager of the season ?
After all he has achieved ( to date ) as much as Steve Cooper and his club are financially £6 million better off ?

I am comparing two managers who have both made it to the Play Off Final.
One who if you listen to some on here is the Messiah, compared to one who has truly worked a miracle getting his team to the final and actually saving his club money.
Twenty other managers, most of whom had a bigger budget, failed to achieve what Huddersfield's manager has

Don’t confuse him.

Huddersfield were a Premier League team in 2017/18 and 2018/19, their income in the last 4 seasons dwarfs Forests many times over (they talk about income a lot when it suits as opposed to actual spend).

Forest haven’t been out of this league this century.

I’ll do some maths and come back to this one…

Cooper was the “Minus £12m man” when we got to the play offs last season, don’t remember STID noting such a miracle.

Cooper was the “Minus £33m man” when we got to the play offs the season before, don’t remember STID noting such a miracle.

Cooper still has never lost a play off game to a team that finished below his side in the table. He’s done it again this season too, regardless of what happens this weekend. It’s 3rd Huddersfield vs 4th Forest.

One of them coming from bottom of the league with nearly 20% of the season already gone. Best manager in the league regardless, a truly remarkable feat fhat I don’t think I have seen in my lifetime.

They haven’t achieved the same, football is about winning games.

Cooper is top of the league of managers in terms of points gained per game. Better than Fulham even.

1.78 points per game for Corberan
2.00 points per game for Cooper

Cooper got Forest to the FA Cup Quarter Finals, ironically knocking out Huddersfield along the way (along with Leicester and Arsenal).

Anyone who doesn’t recognise the wonderful achievements of Cooper and his side this year has some serious chips on their shoulder.

The rest of the world can.

Clearly supporting the wrong team aren't you ?
Your hero worship of Cooper and Forest blinds you to seeing anything else.
The better manager is managing Huddersfield, based on this season's spend.
Nothing at all to do with past years.
Both seasons under Cooper, we spent a fortune on loans and a few signings, together with salaries.
Get real for once.

You created this thread, not me.

I’m trying to keep you consistent. Your logic is changing depending on who you want to back.

Cooper has got to the play offs 3 seasons running with a transfer net spend of MINUS £40m in total.

We did not spend a fortune on loans and we did not spend a fortune on new signings salaries. Myths.

whilst you talk about this seasons spend ot seems Huddersfield has spent a lot over the last five years...4th not the spend table whilst Forest are 16th and we are 22nd.

your dislike of Cooper is obvious...I wonder if you wi think the same of Martin should he leave.....even though he as achieved nothing in his time here so far...apart from a double...at least in the past 2 seasons we were in with a shout of promotion

But ultimately never got promoted.

I think as STID is talking about this season then it should only be looked at this season, wouldn't that net spend include Huddersfield spending some money as a Premier league team!?

Its a flawed comparison over 5 years and not a fair example and certainly not a solid argument to throw in other posters faces to gain superiority.

As I say Vetch, I will always play fair if others play fair and I think that link is certainly not a fair comparison to use and for the record.... I really couldn't care less who wins on Sunday.

You never ''play fair'', you chop and change your methods depending on who it suits.

You were taking Ayew's salary into consideration despite it being a product of seasons gone by, nothing to do with Cooper. You were taking parachute payment's into consideration despite Cooper not seeing any of it, lowest spend in many years to bring in his own players.

You talked of parachute payments for Cooper, but haven't remarked that he hasn't got parachute payments this season yet the Huddersfield manager does.

We now talk about net spend being -2m for Huddersfield this season but at no point have you remarked how wonderful a job Cooper did when his net spend was -40m over those two seasons.

Make your mind up, does current net spend matter or not? Do parachute payments matter or not? If they do then feel free to join the ranks in stating how remarkable his results were in the last 2 seasons, must have had the lowest net spend in the league, right?... .

Ayews salary was Ayews salary when he was playing for us!

Cooper had parachute payments as have Huddersfield have this season.

Not started this convo so not changed anything my side but just pointing out the above in my eyes.... Fairly as always.

Are we jumping onto parachute payments now instead of net spend!? Now who is changing to suit ones view!!

But what has that got to do with anything?

It wasn't Coopers doing, it hindered us not helped us. It means 80k of the salary pot was taken up by one Championship player. An awful burden to bear. Do you think we would have signed him on a free for 80k a week if he was unattached? Of course not.

So if Forest have zero parachute payments and Huddersfield do, then that's a remarkable achievement to be competing with such a team isn't it?

Corberan's club income must be dwarfing that of Coopers. Right?

There aren't my views, these are yours and the OP's. I am making the obvious point that focus changes depending on whom it suits. All we have heard with regards to Coopers success is ''parachute payments'' and ''spend on players signed before he came''.

Now all of a sudden historical signings aren't important, parachute payments aren't important and the only thing that seems to matter is current seasons net spend when of course it wasn't mentioned when Cooper was here when it was MINUS 40m.

Credibility of your position is zero. Same goes for the OP.

Be consistent.

Pound for pound, Huddersfield's achievements thus far this season is greater.

It's not though.

Huddersfields income dwarfs Forests. Huddersfield have parachute payments, Forest don't. Do parachute payments matter or don't they? Because they did when you were bashing Cooper.

Does net spend matter then? Because it didn't when you were bashing Cooper when his net spend averaged MINUS -20m each season he was with us.

Make up your mind.

I know it's convenient to not mention what you have said previously, but it doesn't work like that when you are directly contradicting your own logic.

So what players are currently in that Huddersfield team that fall in the 5 years that they signed, for how much and who would still be on a contract during their Premier league days?

I think they cut their cloth accordingly and don't think there would be many big earners or would their wage bill, I would think their parachute payments are being used too pay of debts and not on signing permanent players or expensive loans.

Our income was probably far higher than Brentfords the previous 2 seasons going by your view on things.

As I say, it's about being fair to the situation and certainly consistent In thought.

You can't use one example to suit and then poo poo it when it doesn't like you are doing here AND then tell someone else they can't do it.

So we didn't use our parachute payments to pay off debts? You realise we had an 80 million deficit to service don't you?

Our debts by far outweighed Huddersfields, we had 7 years worth of overheads to service.

What do you mean ''by your view on things'' - this is your view on things. I am telling you that your view is inconsistent, Cooper has either done exceptionally well this season or he has done exceptionally well with us.

You cant use different logic around the same situations to suit your narrative. You are (and have been) using these examples, not me. I have not given any.

So are parachute payments important or not? Because Forest don't have them and Huddersfield do?

Does income matter or not? Because Huddersfields income dwarfs Forests.

I have said it nuerous times firstly I am a Swasn fan....my posts are because i believe in fairness yet some of the crap that has been posted on here is crazy

I have critiicsed Martin why?

Because despite all the plaudits early this season about how much better the football was this was not the case. We were toothless in attack we just passed the ball around for passing sake. We were not getting results and the games wewre boring.
Martin talks a good game but in his 3 seasons of management has failed to deliver anything.
At MKdons he talked about a process and left 18th months into the process with the club finishing 13th and winning less than 40% of his matches....and conceding only 2 less goals than scored.

this season we finished 15th under this manager we wond less than 36% of our games conceded 10 more goals than we scored....bwe did finish top pof thew possesion stats table....as did MKDons last season under Martin.

I like to watch my team win....under Cooper we did that under Cooper we gor to the play offs twice.
This season the football ha s been crap...there have been some nice patches but in genetral I got bored watching us pass it around our half hardly going forwards. Now the manager is talking about changing formation for next seson yet many on here were saying we should be playing 4-3-3 a long time ago.

I have no great allegiance to Cooper I just fail to understand the "hatred" some on here have for him....leading to threads like this where a "smokescreen" is used to discredit him.

This "bottled" the play offs is crazy.....if thats the case Martin has bottled this season.

I am not praising Forest.....what I am doing is trying to point out by many who posted on here and other forums of how Cooper was a "lucky fraud" ,nothing without Ayew or his u19 loanees.

Cooper walked into Forest seven games in no preseason or input to players and took them form bottom of the table to the play off finals whilst also beating premier league sides Arsenal and Leicester in the FA cup.

So much for those comments

Martin had no real preseason had some input to player aqquisition but what did he achieve....? He is lucky he won the double.....our resultspost that were nothing to write home about....and as for thqt laast game v QPR......

Yes you have said that. Not sure why you keep making such a ludicrous point, it wasn't remotely interesting the first time.

We finished 15th. What exactly would you like me to praise?

You have started 7 Cooper threads in your last 2 pages of created threads. The people you reference have created that combined.

It's like this boys.Sit back ,read and let it sink in from the No 1 poster on this site.

It is about supporting the club not a coach.

Cooper failed;he blew 2 farking play offs.
Martin has also failed. Clearly

Problem is ,Cooper has gone and proven he can be successful whereas Martin has won bugger all and still with us. We will win nothing with him.

Now,People are supporting Martin as they see themselves as a better type of fan.Clearly.This is evidenced buy Fireboy's grotesque dig at fans HE sees as not a loyal as him. He has big chums on here who go along to games with him and get drunk along with him. This is good support, apparently.

People "supporting" Martin are doijg no such thing;they are supporting the club which happens to employ Martin. When he moves on,which he will, they will then support the new coach;which is right.

There is no need for any fan to wave his memeber at others making out he is in some way more loyal/supportive or a better fan and one who should be admired by readers.

Being the worse type of scumfan ,I really don't give a monkeys who coaches us or who doesn't but I will not have my club insulted by an ingenue like Martin nor will I be taken in by some incredible and relentless drivel about work in progress/project,etc.

Cooper fans we don't need

Martin fans too

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not
