| King Charles 111 coming to Wales on 14:00 - Sep 11 by trampie | Well the war in Syria or was it Iraq (I can check if you like), there was a vote for use to put boots on the ground, Celtic MPs voted against on mass, the majority of English MPs voted for war, now as you know the weight of numbers favour English MPs but because it was virtually 100% of Celtic MPs voted against they just about carried the vote and stopped the country going to war, the vote was not on party grounds it was stark the MPs based in the Celtic countries voted against war the MPs based in England voted for war, it was not reported in the press in that vain but that is what happened, the voting record is a matter of public record, it was a big thing at the time we was about to go to war out there, I checked the vote, got a pen and paper because it was jumping out at me and low and behold literally to a man and woman the Celtic MPs voted against war and the majority of English MPs voted for war, so there is a difference in sentiment and I would be hopeful that an independent Wales would make great fair and just laws. |
May I ask you this ? Name one ‘English’ law, you think is unjust and which wales would amend ?

| King Charles 111 coming to Wales on 13:38 - Sep 11 by trampie | What we can take from the past is if we are independent again then our laws can again be far advanced of other jurisdictions , fair play and justice has always been deeply instilled in the Welsh mindset. |
Yes a land where everyone's equal and the clouds are made of candy floss and unicorns roam unfettered, you can't realise that the laws from the past were as decisive and unfair as they are to some these days

Truth is the single biggest barrier to advancement for most of Wales is the Senedd. [Post edited 11 Sep 2022 14:57]

| King Charles 111 coming to Wales on 13:18 - Sep 11 by Sirjohnalot | Even if that is correct how is this relevant in 2022 ? We and the English are of one people. |
This is clearly factually incorrect. The UK is of 3 nations and the occupied north of Ireland. Therefore we are not one people. We are part of a single political structure, of course. Do you think the Scots and English are one people ? Do you think the Irish and English are one people ? Are the Ukrainians and the Russians one people perhaps ? I think you should take the BBC with a pinch of salt. The ‘Great’ in Great Britain refers to the island landmass, its not a comment on the achievements of the long gone British Empire. The uk union would be a lot stronger if it modernises, without that it will end in its current form within a decade. Drakers is a yoon but he has said as much. Rowan and Laura’s Commission reports back in November. If it concludes that Wales and England are one people then i will donate £100 to your charity of choice. And i dont bet !!

My reference to one people is there is no difference between the South Walians and the people of my nearest city, Manchester. Same background, same look on life, same impression of being ignored from those in power. I’ve lived in England now for longer than lived in wales, more or less, around 20 years. I just find the ‘anyone but England’ and the general dislike of them, to be baffling.

Don’t be baffled Allow. Me to clear it up. Many in Wales are not as wealth as in England. They need a crutch. The language is one such aid as it gives strength to the soul. Just for being brought up a Welsh speaker. Extend this and you see the filth, the hate, the derision, the despicable cynicism and hypocrisy in all its feted glory . It’s why you went away and stayed Jon and are happy to live in the lovely place you do. Do not feel obliged to return to a land out of sentimentality . What you are seeing is that which pollutes the soul . Many are happy to see others unhappy

Many in Wales are not as wealth as in England. They need a crutch. The language is one such aid as it gives strength to the soul. Just for being brought up a Welsh speaker. In the SE of England maybe, but my point was Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, not many wealthy people and certainly not much wealthier than Wales. I wish I’d kept up Welsh, and still try to learn it through duolingo, it won’t benefit me up here, but it’s my language and wish I could speak it. I moved away, simply because, this is where I was offered a training contract, had it been Swansea or Cardiff I’d have moved there. Also part of it was I didn’t know anyone up here and I thought I’d do me good moving somewhere completely new. I also applied to Australia and NZ too. I’ve no reason to come back but that’s simply because I live here and my life is here. I still like going home to see mum and dad but there’s no other reason to return but that’s just practicalities. If my wife was offered a huge job in wales, and it made sense, we’d move there. People are people wherever you go, the things you describe are alive and well in wales but also in other places, but they’re a minority. People, generally are decent, nice and will help you if you need it.

Prohibiting Welshmen from entering Chester before sunrise and them having too leave before sunset. Also been able to shoot them with a crossbow within the city walls within this timeframe. Wales would not do the same in Wrexham in response for Englishmen because we are the good guys.

Makes you wonder what would happen if England put up up the shutters on the Welsh seeking treatment for life threatening illnesses . Clatterbridge is full of them and Insuspect Christie’s too. Nobody questions their accent or language they speak . More important matters

I’ve never found problems anywhere in England looking for work. I’ve always been welcomed, in fact my accent has helped. Edwards isn’t doing badly, His anchoring of the Queen’s death was superb.

Not a level playing field him getting to the top because he was Welsh, he got to the top because he was head and shoulders better than anyone else. He recently seemingly had an issue over him and a Welsh flag, that was a Wales England thing and they didn't like it.

Oh come on, do you honestly think he encountered difficulties because he was Welsh ? I’ve no idea where this perceived injustice comes from. Both my cousins and my uncle are from Carmarthen, read medicine in London and got jobs in England, my dad did national service in England, and worked in Leicester and SE England, all welcomed.

| King Charles 111 coming to Wales on 12:54 - Sep 11 by trampie | Yes that is correct, the Welsh have always had a much greater degree of equality than the English who have always been son and heir the Welsh divide their property and land, look at the entitlements for women who got divorced under Welsh law, we were so advanced, I have heard it said that it took England a thousand years to catch up with Welsh laws, Welsh laws were admired throughout the World. Gruffydd ap Llywelyn ruled all of Wales for several years, see the map on wiki and the quotes from the renowned historian John Davies. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wik |
That link confirms my point perfectly. The gavelkind succession split the realm into lots of separate little kingdoms. When the Normans conquered England and looked west all they saw was a fractured, puny bunch of petty kingdoms squabbling with each other. The suggestion that we had slightly more equality (not really true, it was a horrendous time to be a woman anywhere) doesn’t even factor into the equation.

Swearing in public should be illegal and the punishment should be doubled for swearing in front of minors, any swearing on TV the programme should carry a warning.

We do have s5 public order act but times have changed the odd swear word when there are just adults present in a normal public place would be unlikely to fall foul. Repeated in front of kids, he f or c word, is likely to fall foul of the law. Also why we have the watershed. Any more than that you’d have to vastly increase court capacity as they’d be full of people getting criminal records for swearing which may seem harsh

The Normans conquered England in a single handful of years (I think it was 5), the Normans took over 200 years to conquer Wales. After a period Norman nobles would marry Welsh nobles, ordinary Normans would marry ordinary Welsh because the Normans seen the Welsh as being of the same standing, not the same with the English, the Normans thought they were better than them and wouldn't marry them like for like like they would the Welsh.
