| The routine BBC on 06:35 - Oct 27 by Brynmill_Jack | I have to laugh at you - you regard the sheep sh*going chant from fans of rival English clubs but when Cardiff sing about us all being abused children you don’t utter a peep. Where the deck you draw your lines one never knows. As for Mohamed and his BBC cronies you’ll never understand because you aren’t a Swansea resident. It’s not just their marginalization of the football club but their attitudes to Swansea in general. That’s why when they say together stronger I usually raise my middle finger to them. Welsh nationalism would bring even worse - Cardiff had a fit when we got the Wales national pool and has lobbied Cardiff bay for much more funding than we’ll ever know. That is going to multiply by X amount when those berks in the bay get their hands on the purse strings. Let’s not forget - Cardiffs wealth comes off the blood and sweat of the valleys and a lot of people living there are oblivious to that fact. |
I strongly object to Cardiff city morons as much as Swansea ones. I find obscenity and hard man posturing particularly offensive when followed by the wimpish "we know what we are" chant. Being a Swansea resident make no difference. Swansea is a thriving city with massive investment in a time of austerity. Stop winging. You are uncomfortable being Welsh that why you take no offence when being insulted. This is perfectly valid. Many reluctant Welsh have immigrant heritage with values passed on. Wales in a broad church. However slagging of Wales at every opportunity has to be called out like our friend from the Wirral. The valleys were rinsed by London based capitalism in tough time for the average worker. Cardiff managed to keep a bit of the wealth as the coal passed through the docks. Wind turbines re plasters all over Wales Not too many wind farms in the 'home counties' on the chalk ridges. Hopefully deals are in place to compensate local communities.

You remember that the folk of cardiff voted against having a welsh assembly, didn’t even want it residing in the city yet we still got lumbered with them. Only city in Wales to vote against brexit too. No one I know is bothered with all this welshness being rammed down one’s throat, let them have it up north but no one cares for it down south….

Welsh ness is not rammed down anyone's throat. Wales has a lot of reluctant Welsh people from English Scottish and Irish heritage. It is perfectly natural for them not to empathise with welsh culture. I have no problem with this. I have problem with Welsh people that create myths. Welsh is rammed down their throat for example. Cardiff of course has Indians pakistani Bangladeshis and Turks these days too. Jason Mohamed looks Asian has Asian name but has bought into Welsh culture. He is hated by those who do not.

Kids have to learn a language that they do not like ,not use at home or socially unless they are shamed into doing so. Welsh is of no use internationally ;Spanish,French,Mandarin,Portuguese,Italian,German are. These are the languages that should be compulsory

No, the Welsh people have not spoken. When did we have a referendum on the Welsh language act? Most Welsh people do not speak Welsh. It's nothing to do with being reluctant or anti Welsh either. Besides which OHL is Welsh so why is it nothing to do with him? Is it nothing to do with Welsh residents who are not Welsh?

I have yet to meet a Welsh speaker that doesn’t like the Welsh language.

The Labour party calls the shots in Wales and Drakeford is the boss of the welsh Labour party. Welsh people voted for them and they are enacting their policies including the language act which as far as I know was not opposed that much (i will look it up) . Drakeford himself is a Welsh speaker as were both his predecessors Carwyn and Rhodri. OHL has left Wales and does not like the place. It does not stop him advising us how to educate our children. OHL wants Welsh kids taught Mandarin instead of Welsh. The kids in Aberaeron would be bemused at his wacky idea. Most would not even get passed the alphabet. Expatriate welsh people are not allowed to vote on Welsh affairs.

Then why do you for example when telephoning any medical or government department in Wales you’re now greeted in Welsh which is all well and good if the 1st language of this nation was Welsh , it isnt , nor should important information signs on major roads be in Welsh .

You will see the naked hatred endemic in many valley people for those in Swansea, which dwarfs outlying villages ,as it should. Go to Townhill,Portmead ,Blaenymaes and check out the Welsh patois on the estates.Ask how many are 'rsed about speaking Welsh as they try to survive and support their families. If you speak Welsh then fine but accept that for many it's irrelevant in most cases and annoying in others. Fact. We are conversing in a language , hated by resolven and builty. Strange innit

I love languages and speak three to a reasonable level. I do not hate English language. It is fantastic and so good it has bulldozered itself all over the world. Being bilingual is a good thing not a bad thing. Knowledge of Welsh enabled me to learn a third language. It is a well know fact. You might have noted Welsh speaking kids are more articulate in English. The last three leaders of Wales were all Welsh language speakers and good speakers, Teach kids in Townhill Mandarin. A great idea.

Welsh speakers who have it as their 1st language of whom I know quite a few are not articulate when speaking english , far form it, many admit they have difficulty when conversing in english. in fact many of my ex colleagues were often the butt of many a joke when trying to express themselves .

'Narrow minded' "narrow valley" "chip on your shoulder" heard them all before and reject it. You are now a "True Jack" and I am a second class fan. I do not accept that either. It is true that many urban fans have a low empathy for things Welsh. It has always been the case. Immigrant stock from mining jobs in the mines and foundries going back 200 years. Happily empathy for Wales is growing with each generation. It is a good thing. I do not actually know if I even favour independence. I am not socialist and Wales has leftist policies I do not agree with in general. I am not a Swanse person but see it as the main city of my land.
