The shocking truth about the NHS. 12:40 - Nov 15 with 3448 viewsA_Fans_Dad

According to this DM report.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/de
the NHS cost the UK public £229Billion last year.
That equates to more than £4,000 for every man, woman and child in England. (just forget about the rest of the UK) Which is over £3400 pwr person in the whole UK.
The article suggests that this is very poor value for money compared to other countries.
"For example, Britain has just 2.5 hospital beds for every 1,000 people. That is less than a third of the number in Germany; or even Bulgaria.

Britain also has fewer doctors, nurses, CT scanners and MRI units per capita than similar countries. We also have poorer survival rates for most cancers. And, as Mail readers know all too well, getting a GP appointment has become an endurance sport."

In a socialist world there would still be rich and poor. There would still be that gap.

If we had a Welsh Royal family, as you have sometimes wished for, do you think they would be happy in a 3 bed terrace on minimum wage?

As the Orwell book says, all pigs are equal.....

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I don't want a Royal Welsh family, I want no royal family.

Would privatisation be such a bad thing. Providing it provided a better service at less cost and staff were treated better.

To be quite blunt, privatisation would be great for those with a fair chunk of change. (Many of whom probably already go private anyway).
For the rest of the population it'd be a travesty.

The NHS is not beyond fixing, it just requires people with the resolve to do so (unfortunately none of them carry the title of MP/MS).

Labour created the NHS and labour destroyed.
Between creating "Trusts" with all the duplication that entailed, some parts being privatised and PFI backed investment costs.
Which should have been cancelled and paid off by the Government to relieve that burden.

Too much centralsation within Trusts.
Too much bed blocking with infirm patients who no longer have anywhere else to go.
Too many highly paid chiefs and not enough indians.
Paying too much for standard medicines.
Industry ripping them off on Equipment costs.

It needs professional cost benifit analysis, but that would end up taking too long and costing too much, because as we know governments can't run a piss up in a brewery.

Absolutely this, surely no-one can argue with much of it.

The Conservatives have been in power for twice as long (give or take) as Labour have since the creation of the NHS.
