Michael Sheen has described the Prince of Wales' message of support to England's World Cup squad as "entirely inappropriate". Prince William met the football team this week and told them “the country is behind you”.
The Newport-born actor tweeted on Tuesday: "He can, of course, support whoever he likes and as President of FA his role makes visit understandable - but surely he sees holding the title Prince of Wales at same time is entirely inappropriate? Not a shred of embarrassment? Or sensitivity to the problem here? #PrinceofWales "
The Prince visited the England headquarters at St George’s Park on Monday before the squad flew to Qatar on Tuesday morning. Gareth Southgate’s side will play a potentially decisive final group game against Wales on November 29.

Prince William became Prince of Wales in September following the death of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and the accession to the throne of his father King Charles III. The Prince, who is president of the English FA, has not met the Wales squad ahead of the tournament, which will start on Sunday.
At England's training base he spoke to players and staff, posed for pictures and told the squad: “I’m really here to point out that the rest of the country is behind you. We are all rooting for you, enjoy it.”

William is President of the FA a position he held before he became Prince of Wales so no criticism of him can be made for carry out his duties as President.
He does of course often support the Welsh Rugby team.
I wonder why not criticism was made of the President of the Welsh FA did he meet the Welsh players before they departed.
