Michael Sheen joins in the criticism of Willy Wales 12:39 - Nov 16 with 2792 viewsKeithHaynes

WOL.

Michael Sheen has described the Prince of Wales' message of support to England's World Cup squad as "entirely inappropriate". Prince William met the football team this week and told them “the country is behind you”.

The Newport-born actor tweeted on Tuesday: "He can, of course, support whoever he likes and as President of FA his role makes visit understandable - but surely he sees holding the title Prince of Wales at same time is entirely inappropriate? Not a shred of embarrassment? Or sensitivity to the problem here? #PrinceofWales "

The Prince visited the England headquarters at St George’s Park on Monday before the squad flew to Qatar on Tuesday morning. Gareth Southgate’s side will play a potentially decisive final group game against Wales on November 29.

Prince William became Prince of Wales in September following the death of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and the accession to the throne of his father King Charles III. The Prince, who is president of the English FA, has not met the Wales squad ahead of the tournament, which will start on Sunday.

At England's training base he spoke to players and staff, posed for pictures and told the squad: “I’m really here to point out that the rest of the country is behind you. We are all rooting for you, enjoy it.”

Just to be clear to all are you accusing Mountbatten of paedophillia ?

I spend my Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings with a large bunch of teenage boys so obviously I must be a paedophile! That's the kind of logic being employed there, in a boat with 3 boys, well it was a blooming large boat with several other people there including the parents of two of the teenage boys and the other "young boy" was a crew member.

Suggesting Mountbatten may be a pedo for that is akin to suggesting Kilky knows what he's talking about.

Maybe he'll calm it all down by telling us he was joking.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Yes strange he omit the fact that he focused solely on the 3 lads omitting the fact that others were present during the murders, could it be a case of the lady doth protest too much

It was purely because Mountbatten was an English Royal. It doesn't matter that he was a famous war hero though to be fair, if Kilk had done any kind of research he would have known of plenty of accusations that he could fairly have mentioned.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Why does this upset so many , isn't the fact that Wales are in the finals enough without having additional validation from someone who was given a title by chance of who they are

And this yma o hyd shizzle is beginning to wear thin. Nationalists hijacking the Welsh football team but only now when they’ve reached a couple of tournaments. They should keep the f out

This sort of story just purports the belief that we are a neurotic needy bunch moaning about the investiture and the “imposition” of a royal prince upon us but by the same token moaning that he’s not wearing a bucket hat and drunkenly mouthing “please don’t take me home”. Are the Welsh really THIS bipolar???

Please don’t class all Welsh people the same way, some of the posters on here are a total embarrassment to our country especially when they are unable to put their points across in an adult like manner.

All on a forum of a club that play in the English system.

I’m not. It’s a kind of self stereotyping from him - all sheen is doing is making us look a bit like we need the Prince of Wales’ approval, validation and support when he’s English born and bred (and that’s someone I think who stands in the nationalist camp?).

We should be more self confident than that is what I’m saying. (And that’s coming from a unionist !).

I have no idea, just like you probably.

But these allegations have recently been made as a matter of public record in a British court of law.

‘Legal proceedings have been initiated against a number of institutions in Northern Ireland alleging that Lord Mountbatten abused a boy at a notorious Belfast children’s home in the 1970s.

Arthur Smyth, a former resident of the Kincora home, has waived his anonymity to make the allegations against the earl, a great uncle of Britain’s King Charles.

He alleges to have been abused twice as an 11-year-old by the deceased royal.

It’s the first time that someone has stepped forward to take allegations against Lord Mountbatten into a court.

That decision hasn’t been taken lightly.

He understands only too well that it will be a deeply unpopular case with many people coming as it does within weeks of the passing of the Queen.”

I guess the court will decide on the truth or otherwise.

Any idea why a 79 year old Royal would be …… umm …… in a boat in Ireland with ‘3 boys’ , as you put it ?

I look forward on hearing your views…. 🤷‍♂️

The three murdered young boys were his 14-year-old grandsons Tim and Nick Brabourne, the other was 15-year-old Paul Maxwell, a local Sligo kid who helped crew the boat.

Any idea why they were there, you ask? The twins were lobster-potting off Mullaghmore with their parents and grandparents.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

You’re the one that raised the issue not me, regardless of anyone’s status in society abuse should never be condoned ,but until any facts are presented then he’s innocent . Always easy to fight when your opponent cannot defend himself ,wait and see then comment because I will
