What the hell is going on Swansea City ? 16th Jan 2023 19:24
Glasgow Rangers bid last week for Morgan Whittaker has been described as incredibly low and not warranting consideration according to a source we speak to close to Swansea City. And even closer to matters of this nature at the club. Had the swans accepted the bid they wouldn’t have even recuperated anything close to the initial £725,000 fee paid for Morgan back in 2021. 3

Just to clarify when I was saying gut feeling I was talking about me and not a slight on your sources.

I know it's been done to death, but the owners took over in a less than open way by ignoring the Trust. Since then it has been P.R. after P.R. with words not matching deeds.

Edit due to predictive text.

None taken 👍 I know you better than that.

Martin obviously doesn't want Whittaker, but I think he's been sold down the river on this one, Morgan's confidence was obviously high, playing well loved by all at Plymouth and now the rug has been pulled from under him, got to feel sorry for the lad.

I don't believe whatever Martin does or doesn't want , when it comes to money the owners have the final say . Regarding Whittakers feelings yes he's been hard done by in some respects but he's been around long enough to understand that players are just commodities , to buy and sell . Our owners imo are short term with no apparent long term plan other than buy low sell high regardless of the profit margin.

Can't argue with that Boundy.

I am quite liking this form of management. The owners were advised by "football people" at the club that Whitaker is a big talent and the stats back that up. Martin tells them he wants a new striker but not Whitaker who he did not want at the club.

The owners have brought Whittaker back to the club against the managers wishes and told him to play him or sell him. Martin has plenty of strikers and took a long time to give Benda, Ollie Cooper and Cullen a chance.

It is good management. Remote Americans cannot tell the manager what players to pick. This did not work well with Potter and Cooper and will not work with Martin. They can tell him though he cannot have new striker. He has 5 already at the club. Obafemi, Patterson, Whittaker, Cullen, Piroe and Joseph on loan.

Not sure if that is good management , another year with us could have increased his value 3 fold and if not unless he has a career ending injury his value remains as it is . A "big talent" is yet to be proven at C/Ship level I believe Whitaker hasn't played for us since his return is because that a Club has made a bid for him, that doesn't mean Martin doesn't want to play him but can't.

You mention we have 5 strikers at the Club but forgot to add that prior to Whittakers return only two are /were available .As many have alluded to and we've experienced this with other managers is the owners won't spend without selling , one of the troubles with that concept is the value is decreasing every year . Patterson is being spoken about as being sold for 250k , now we're dealing in the bargain bin and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future . The Academy keeps throwing up surprises but looking at the current crop most will play at a decent level but C/ship and above unlikely .So imo the owners don't appear to have a long term plan of progression .
